Despite the fact that the video was posted 11 years ago , it still gives me the chills and these uncomfortable goosebumps because of how Syria was in the past and how it is now. As a Syrian who is 17 years old realizing how college life in the 2000’s was just simple and nice makes me want to relive what these past college students lived. Eventually, we all hope that Syria would come back standing strong.
I'm from Algeria, and I was in Syria in 2007 for tourism with my family, I visited Damascus Aleppo and Lattakieh, it is a very beautiful country, I saw no terrorists in there, I even saw a Muslim with a beard hanging out with a Christian having a cross on his neck, they were having coffee together just like these people in the video. My arab world I cry for you everynight :'(

Son what happened in Syria was very bad foreign policy and involvement by a very stupid man named Baraka Obama. I am 18 yo Syrian, grown up in horror and under bombs, left my home as kid and never came back and seems never i will be able to. I heard our country's beauty from my grandparents and my parents stories only. So it's heartbreaking to see this video from the good old days.
I'm Syrian myself. This video made me smile big honestly. What happened to our country wasn't a civil war as mainstream media claims. It's a universal war. I love Syria so much and I hope one day all Syrians can live a normal life like they did before. I can never imagine living outside the country. I have so many memories here.
@@LionOfBabylon00 hi wow I totally forgot about the comment I made on this video, and now I see someone checking up on me two years later. Thank you so much. Damascus Is a beautiful City. people think that Syria is a run down war torn place but actually many parts of Syria could be mistaken for parts of Paris. I lived in Damascus for over a year during the Civil war and I loved the City and the friendly People.
I am a white, Christian, middle class, suburban American. This video is one of those things that shows me how my life is just ridiculously privileged. Of course, privilege is not something to feel ashamed of, it’s just something everybody needs to understand they have, no matter how much of it they possess. My heart goes out to everybody that has been negatively effected by the ruthless conflict in Syria over the years.
These young people should be as old as I am. I started college in Syria in 2009 and I live and work in Germany now. This video made me cry. I hope these beautiful people are safe and I really wish they could meet again at the same place 💛💚💙
Yes, you are so right bit the one responsible for destabilizing Syria was the very stupid who didn't know his elbow from his "A hole" Barack Obama with his cowardice foreign policy. Just like Carter with Iran and Bush with Iraq that should have been better thought out,Obama once again with Syria, and the Green Revolution in Iran ( poor kids slaughtered) Trump with announcing the pullout of Afghanistan alerting the Taliban to there eventual take-over and Biden by allowing the Taliban thugs to pressure him to exit irresponsibly. The young people of these countries were and still suffering horribly especially the young women.
@@firass2173 LOL. Why are you pretending to be a Syrian? Your country raped Iraq and the whole region after 2003, bro really said we are alive because of US lmao.

I was a student at Damascus university english literature department from 2011 till 2014.this bring tears to my eye remembering how i it used to be back then.I used to have like 55 friends in general and around 15 close friends we used to do a lot of things it is very similar to those fine people. Now they are either dead left college or lrft the country. At the last exam I applied for I only saw 4 of them.So yeah fuck war.don't do war.
I'm Syrian I know this place..it's in a elite upscale neighbourhood called Malki and it's residents have always been "and still" quite liberal comparing to an average syrian..there's no war in those neighbourhoods... so I can confidently say that those people either left the country or still here without any trouble
I'm going to visit Syria and looking sooo much forward to it!! I do think that the students here are more western minded than most Syrians but from what I have read on the internet, the country is full of wonderful friendly people open minded to visitors, including those from the western world. I think the key to a better world is simply more respect for each other and getting to each other better.
After 13 years, I want to ask you some questions. Did you go to Syria? Did you like it? What happened there? He asked the important thing: Are you still alive?
@@have5211 Yes and yes. It is 13 years ago and the most memorable 12 day trip I have ever made. One year before the war. It's a long story but Syria was and probably still is a wonderful country. The war is an incredibly sad and complex story and my heart goes out to all Syrians who have had to endure so much hardship.

Daniel Navarro yes that's correct i have relatives who live in Venezuela who would assure your idea that syria was one of the safest countries to live in. I was born and raised in Ukraine, but syria is a second home to me, im still studying in Damascus university regardless of the war which is going on, it's not so safe to live here honestly but fearing death is pointless! nothing but some bombs here and there, which you can't know about, only if you were hit by one of them :) everything else is normal! Do you have any relatives in syria that you used to visit before? Cheers from Damascus!!
I met some Syrian people in Jordan after the war in an education centre and they are really kind and have hospitality and with good manners and ambitious people and like to have fun and laugh , they are really just like this group I hope everything to become Better than before in Syria soon InShAllah

This video was taken in 2009 But yeah ppl still hang out even if there's war. The places that got hit are certain parts of Syria in which oil is located. Also there's a Gold mine that place too has been targeted. And certain neighbour countries like Turkey and Israel are also taking parts of Syrian land the closest to them. So it's now certain parts of the country is basically theirs unfortunately unless the president has enough power to fight back which unfortunately is not the case one can't stand alone it's hard. So these places are avoided. In other parts everyhting is perfectly fine still the same.

That's awesome...despite the country being torn apart in war, I feel good to see that life goes on. Maybe you guys and girls can tell us about the real situations in Syria. You girls are gorgeous. keep it up.
Not really. It is almost normal life. We just hear rockets on Jobar from our army on the terrorists. Sometimes the Terrorists shell back but it doesn't do alot of damage. Just now people are celebrating in the streets because we qualified to the World Cup playoffs versus Iran.
Thank you! Suicide bombers are rare in this year 2017 and back in 2016. But from 2011 to 2013 we almost hear suicide bombs everyday, Very sad we would sit around the Radio hearing the news and our eyes watery (Power used to cut alot back then because we used to live in Eastern Ghouta. The part that is in terrorists hand now). I have lived my entire life in this war I was 13 when it has started. Now I am 19. I have witnessed horrible stuff and then moved to Damascus finally. Things getting alot better in safety.
@@starlight122012 heey! Idk if you'd have problems being British but during the fair there had been people from around Europe even French ppl. But don't take my words for granted I suggest you to wait for UK or other European embassies to open

Mohamed Mo You're full of shit. The Syrian "revolution" was fueled by the West to make Syria the next Iraq and Libya. Assad is protecting Syria and it's secularism. This made me tear up. The fact that none of this is the same rn ... not only the place but people themselves has changed and what hurts most is at that time Syria was developing but look at it now
This show gave me goosebumps, it's really heart-touching. It took us back to the old good days. Hopefully, each one of them is doing well.
I am 18 yo Syrian, grown up in horror and under bombs, left my home as kid and never came back and seems never i will be able to.
I heard our country's beauty from my grandparents and my parents stories only.
So it's heartbreaking to see this video from the good old days.
The regime has fallen, refugees are coming back, immigrants are visiting, what about now?
What about now?
I'm Syrian myself. This video made me smile big honestly. What happened to our country wasn't a civil war as mainstream media claims. It's a universal war. I love Syria so much and I hope one day all Syrians can live a normal life like they did before. I can never imagine living outside the country. I have so many memories here.
You're Right it is Not A Civil war as mainstream media says, it's A Tyrantt Killing His People!!!
Universal War You Say, Shut. Your Anus I Say
Hi sweet friend💚
Are you still alive ?
Your country is free now, congratulations ❤️
@@LionOfBabylon00 hi wow I totally forgot about the comment I made on this video, and now I see someone checking up on me two years later. Thank you so much. As someone who's in a minority, I fear for the future of the country, but I'm looking forward to what life (and the region lol😅) has in store for us. I'm just wishing for the best.. thank you again 💕🙏🏻

15 years can change so much… hope we can see them now ❤
I met a couple Syrian girls here in California, and all I can say is they're beautiful :)
when was this?
Middle east woman are the most beautiful woman of all..
Why the fuck Syrian live in evil country that destroyed them?
I love the Sryian people 🇬🇷❤️🇸🇾.
May God make them healthy and successful.
Thank you very much we love Ελλάδα ❤
Why mention ur color ?
@@beyondthestars4299 It makes more sense that mentioning that he is christian, considering that almost half of Syria are arab christians.

@@firass2173 لا تطبل

Of All the Arab countries Syria was Best in the 90’s and 2000’s thanks for the memories as Kid love 🇸🇴❤️🇸🇾
The whole region was great, however the West ruined the whole region when they illegally invaded Iraq in 2003.

I'm Syrian I know this place..it's in a elite upscale neighbourhood called Malki and it's residents have always been "and still" quite liberal comparing to an average syrian..there's no war in those neighbourhoods... so I can confidently say that those people either left the country or still here without any trouble
Aaaah they're at Malki, they're probably fine then
although i'm watching this in 2017 Syria is filled with beauty! I will visit Syria before i die, despite the war.

+madlen sehnawi I used to take my family to Syria for vacation in 2007, 2008 2010 and to tell you the true Syria was 1,000 times safer than Brazil. +Chris B Really?? Poor boy ...try to travel more and learn more culture from other countries ...perhaps near future you will have better point of view...Have a nice day!

But yeah ppl still hang out even if there's war.

Not really. It is almost normal life.
We just hear rockets on Jobar from our army on the terrorists.
Sometimes the Terrorists shell back but it doesn't do alot of damage.
Just now people are celebrating in the streets because we qualified to the World Cup playoffs versus Iran.
