I grew up in Southern California in the 70's/80's between a couple wealthy neighborhoods (La Jolla & Rancho Santa Fe). 6.9's were not and uncommon sight. But they sure look nicer in Euro-spec trim (we had the ghastly 5-mph bumpers in the US).

just a silly legal question coming from someone in France. I saw the beautiful w108 with this immense roof top which was not factory made . Can you guys in the UK still register this car with collector's plates after this kind of intervention?
I was a lad back then , doing a paper round everyday that included the Mercedes dealership. I remember the W126, W124 and the W201 when they were new. I’d call in to the showroom floor every so often and chat to the nice salesman about these cars. They always gave me brochures , free caps if they had any going spare, pens or anything with the Star on, just to get rid of me. 😀😀😀.

Ponton most likely has unibody design, not monocoque. I know the Brits typically confuse the two, as with the New Defender.

Its just too bad Mercedes Benz is not the same company anymore. They are barely supporting their old cars, many parts are NLA.
