I bought a Virtual Gravity Nano years ago when it first came out and I had a very similar reaction with it. Could not for the life of me push it out , would hug the inside of the lanes and cross over most the time. When I finally did force it out to the 2 or 3 board it would burn up so much energy in the front end that it would flatten out and not even get back to the pocket or it would come in super flat. I tried messing with the cover stock, even had it redrilled to go longer, and I just couldn't get a good look out of it, and yes I was using it on a longer oil pattern. Man where you were bowling at the lanes dry as hell compared to the alley I work at. I throw one hand no thumb and when I use my jackel ambush I stand like 23 and throw 15 on the right side and it doesn't over hook. But if I stand left and try to hit like 10 board down lane my pearl ball will ice skate and hit 3 pin of I get lucky lol. And I like your video
Some of us that are speed dominant actually do need a ball that hooks at your feet sometimes. 🤷♂️ If i was bowling on what you’re bowling on I wouldn’t even take it out of the trunk.
I mean for your rev rate and volume of that center you CLEARLY should never throw this ball. Now, here in the Baltimore area our center have a considerably more oil. Would I get one? Probably not as it's still to strong for me, but lower rev rate and speed dominate players in this area are having very good success. So its a niche ball for sure but some will benefit from it.
I agree. I knew it wouldn't be a good fit BUT most people order online or have shady shops selling them anything. We have that luxury of knowing what we do and don't need.
@@hihbowling thus why I research balls EXTENSIVELY before I spend a crisp $220 on it LOL. I appreciate all you guys do to show viewers exactly what these balls are designed to do and who they are really designed for.
I don't have the Ambush but I do have the Ghost, Legacy, Flash and Mythic. When you bowl in the desert what do you expect? I have balls designed for medium oil that I can't throw in most houses out West without standing as deep as possible. As stated some MD houses have more oil and thus balls of this calibur perform well. On the other hand I agree that this ball wasn't pushed by Motiv like others. In my opinion I think this ball is for sport shots. Thanks for the review.
I'm 4 3/8 by 7/8 up, 17.5mph (machine) and about 20 out of my hand 450rpm.Ball is 60x5.5x35. I tried to throw mine at OOB 1000. I'm in MN and there is NOT enough oil unless someone dropped the bucket on the lane. It hooked in my backswing. So I went 2000, 3000, 4000. Now it is still early, but not nearly as bad. It's not a house shot ball for the most part, at least for me, but for heavy oil tourneys, it's been solid. I've gone way inside with it for practice and it does work for me in there, but I can get it to burn up. I think when I come across some of the Long patterns or some of the heavier sport shots it will be money. Right now it took the Legacy out of my bag, and that ball has gotten me multiple 700s and an 813 this year. SO... it's gonna be a car ball on tourney days. When I walk in and if the legacy just doesn't have it, guess what does. I'll head to the car and pull out the Ambush. In the end, I don't think it's a bad ball. I don't think it's a ball for a high rev guy on a house shot. I think Motiv hit exactly where they put it on the ball chart. It is the biggest nastiest heaviest oil ball they have made. And if you throw it in that type of a condition, it's going to be solid. Throw mud tires on an Indy car and yes it's going to suck on a track. Put Slicks on Bigfoot and it's going to suck crushing cars. But yes... on a house shot, it does suck horribly.
@@hihbowling i understand that, but also look at their axis tilt, rotation, rpm etc. Most of the reviews aren't anywhere near your RPM especially. My last point and ill let this die... is every ball that a company makes designed for a house shot? Of course not. This ball being the biggest and most nasty heavy oil ball they have tells me that is probably the case with this one. Again I can appreciate that you may not use it because it doesn't fit a house shot. I bowl tourneys and I think this ball will be money on some of the heavier oil or long pattern shots
Seems like it would be hard to be accurate with that much hook at the end, one review said you have to stand over by the left gutter and throw it more in the middle where more oil is. I’m still using my blue hammer 😂
@@hihbowling not at 300 bucks. I was for sure a 3 ball a year guy before the prices went sky high, I just can't justify it. especially when I'm not killing my forge.

I am curious? What polish did you use? The reason I ask. I use to resurface, my Ex Wife's and my equipment, yes, I had a ball spinner, but the polish I used was.... 3m Finesse it 2, at that time it was 35.00 a Quart, now it is 70.00 a Quart
@@hihbowling 3m Finesse it 2 was the stuff to use. After I used the 3m Finesse it 2? I would hit the whole ball with a light spray of Windex. If it was a Basketball? I could have palmed it.
Honest reviews love it. They don’t give these bowling balls a chance they making too many at once u can’t even enjoy one for 2 months before the next one comes out.
I'm speed dominant. Low revs. My Pro told me about this ball. I come up the back and usually play between 8-12 boards. It works for me. But I need some grab to hook all my balls. I bowled a tourney today where the lane guy had Double oiled the lanes FROM SIDE TO SIDE. cuz he was pizzed by all the complainers of the tourney from yesterday. Our tourney paid for those dudes yesterday. Pizzed is mild way of putting how everyone felt. Well, this ball basically slid straight. I normally roll about 17 mph, but I had to go down to about 12mph just to produce a hook. I went to the Ghost, and finally was able to produce some hook. And finally went to the Radioactive Vibe and was able to move up to about 14 mph. Anyways, I digress, I think this ball is built for speed dominant players, more than high revers like you. I watch a few lanes down at some guy rolling the Ambush, Hi rever,, and he guttered three times. that's how bad the lanes were. So maybe there is something to the ol' " a ball for everyone" scenario. Anyways, love you vids. subbed and liked. Oh and I am going to use some of your training vids to learn how to increase my revs. Good stuff.
This reminds me of the Motiv Raptor Talon, way too much ball unless you're on very high volume or like a 50ft shot. All im gonna say is my attitude control looked like it hooked later than this thing haha. Don't get me wrong it has a use, but how often is a normal league bowlers on 50ft of oil? At least back in the day Motiv promoted their equipment for sport conditions so you knew what you were getting into.
My man! It seems like this ball is too strong for your style. I love your videos and I seen how you throw and it appears that you have a good amount of power and speed. When I see you throw this ball the same way. The Ambush looks like it needs more LOL. Please correct me if I'm incorrect in my analysis of your bowling. This ball might suite me because I'm a speed guy,. I'm typically around 20 to 22mph consistently. Not sure what your speed is but it looks close to that. Thank you for sharing. I might pick this ball up!
I have been watching a lot of ball reviews, call me Old School, but why do all of these guys, want equipment where you stand Left, and throw the ball right? Why don't these guys, want equipment that covers All Types of Lane conditions? Am I missing something here? My Best Ball, I ever owned, was a Tropical Storm, with the Pin 6 inches out, I had it drilled Tame, over the label, where it only moved 4 boards left on synthetic lanes. It was my Dry Condition ball. I shot so many 700 Series, 279's, 288's no one talks about this anymore
Its kinda true. Everyone want's aggressive stuff. I've shot tons of high games with a Strike King, which is even LESS aggressive than the Tropical. Ball rolled super smooth and yet, it wasn't aggressive at all.
@@SirJoelsuf1 Great call. My Ex Wife Hated that Tropical Storm, but that ball, more than Paid for itself!!!! The complete Arsenal, is not what these guys are about!!! I use to Resurface, my, and my Ex wife's equipment, and yes.... I polished my bowling balls with Number 7 polishing compound, and 3m Finesse it 2
My go to ball are the low end stuff, the left to right hook is going to happen with me either way. The only thing that changes is the name of the ball, I was doing this with a Black Knight.
What's an example of a pearl that hooks too early? I have guys in league throwing the quantum evo hybrid, mythic jackal, and proton physics with no issue. I throw a quantum evo pearl half the time without issue. How much stronger of a pearl/hybrid do you get? The katana and widow 2.0 should slay for lower rev bowlers on house
@@hihbowling I could maybe get on board with that. I have a slow two hander on league that isn't getting anything out of theirs. The lower rev guys love it though
@@hihbowling I just don't understand why companies make balls like this. WHERE CAN YOU USE THIS THING??? There's ABSOLUTELY no way I would touch this ball.
@Mikey I think I might actually bowl at a house that this can be used lmao. Where I bowl the lanes are drenched so it might actually stay where it should lol
@Mikey it definitely is! Funny enough, every house I have been to since feels dry in comparison. But then when I got back to it after going elsewhere, it throws me off 😂
So, here's my hang up with this "review": You didn't even try to explain or show where this may be in play. You didn't explain what type of bowler this would match with or what conditions this could play on. All you did was tell everyone how shit this ball is. There was zero objectivity. If someone didn't understand that this ball was way too strong by watching the vid, you didn't even say the word strong..you said it was simply trash. I liked the fact that you polished it, but didn't even explain or try to project that a ball like this burns up all its energy being polished and won't make the turn. Just really bummed you didn't give this ball a proper and objective review...regardless if you matched up well or not.
I can respect that. My fault, I was irritated as a consumer! I actually paid $$ for this. Now those same gripes you have about a consumers review I have with the manufacturers release statements and staffer parading. I KNEW this wasn't a ball for me but if they're going to parade EJ out there ON HOUSE I gave it a shot for my community. The fact that it made it to the channel is being unbiased. I don't like just burning $$$. The fact that tons of comments are coming out NOW saying it's a niche ball is the reason I didn't hold back. THAT should come from manufacturers NOT a staffer or fan trying to bail them out.
For sure. I have a handful of balls that weren't as advertised and it pissed me off as well. Just money wasted. Tbh, it doesn't change a thing about your channel for me. I love the content...mostly because you don't bowl like me and I really like to see how pieces COULD roll. Either way, keep crushing the vids!!! Thanks for the explanation. Most content creators don't respond. Much respect!!
I threw this at the demo day was not impressed at all, even with neutral drilling. But I'm also partial to hybrids. Then I threw the sky raptor and that has been the worst bowling ball I have ever threw, even the motiv rep was saying that the sky raptor is situational use.
@@hihbowling I don't own any motiv balls personally but I did fall in love with the ripcord launch. If I had a spot forward in my bag I'd have one but there's just no spot. I am thinking about exchanging my hyped hybrid to the fatal venom though, do you think this would be a good change out?
Anything under 2k surface is a problem for me. Even 2k is a problem. Usually have one ball under 3k and everything else above that. Have a urethane at 2k and it's great. Idk why people need to kill a ball by sanding it down soo much. I've also kinda stopped polishing by equipment. Like I'll do all the steps up to 5000 then hit the ball lightly with a 3k pad. It gets alot of slide like polish but has alot more drive
Sometimes I feel bad for pro shops with people coming in ordering the next “hook monster” and then bitching about why it doesn’t cover as many boards as their low end reactive.
I threw mine for a few games on various patterns and have it yo one of the Jr's when I was done. I have a 475 rev rate and this thing just wasn't it. My problem isn't getting the ball to read it's getting it down lane. So hard pass.
You'd be amazed how well a ball will roll when you let it roll off your fingers vs hitting hard at the bottom of a 14ft back swing. You might see the ball walk right into the pocket at 22 mph. I have a new pink widow that won't go over 13 mph and miss the head pin and sometimes the 7 as well, with me running to the line and putting all my hand into it, but if I tiptoe to the line and let it float off my hand, it will roll 18 mph hooking the whole lane and hammer the pocket. Or i can plumb it up 12, or 10, or put any angle on it necessary for the pattern and hit the pocket without overreacting. Still love watching every video I can!!!
Balls shouldn't have disclaimers. This channel was for high rev players because there wasn't any other references out there when I started. If a $80 ball can handle it so should a $220 ball.
@@hihbowling my point is hitting up on the ball isn't adding to the revs, but taking from the speed. You can let the ball float off your fingers and still hit 600+ revs and you don't have to loft half the lane or the gutter to get it to the pocket and you shouldn't have to polish the ball unless you are bowling on less than 22 mils. But even then, this ball isn't meant for that condition anyway. Cores do funny things when they get revved beyond their drilling limits. I have watched other high Rev reviews, and they were able to plumb it up between 3rd and 4th arrows just fine, 475 to 550 revs. You probably have 700+ off your hand and when it hits the oil the ball tears through the oil, slowing the ball to 500 and turning the core prematurely and hitting the pins below 400. If you rolled it off your fingers gently, you would probably average 600 the entire length of lane, from off your hand to the break point, thru core migration and through the pins. I love watching you bowl, don't get me wrong. I think you should be bowling with the pros on TV, but to make sanded solid asyms roll right, you have to have a gentle hand and steady feet. They will rev fast and roll hard, putting all the energy into the pins and not the lane.
No way I'm paying 300 bucks for a bowling ball. Big strong balls don't make you bowl better. It's like thinking a pair of Jordans will turn you into a basketball star. Lol
I disagree that this ball doesn't have a purpose. No, this ball isn't for everyone and no, this ball isn't going to be successful on most lane conditions... HOWEVER, I have put one in my bag and one of my student athletes has put this ball in his bag. My student athlete throws a slow, low RPM ball and the Ambush works great as a first ball on the lanes because it continues. This ball just doesn't run out of energy on the back like a lot of others. For me, I need very specific lane conditions for this ball to come out of the bag. I have a tweener style, moderate speed and moderate RPMs so this ball for me needs heavy oil. There isn't enough lane right of the headpin if it isn't heavy oil conditions, but again, the ball just doesn't stop. It reads early and all the way through the back of the rack without running out of energy. This ball can work for up-ten-dumpers and those with low RPMs but for those with high revs, this ball isn't likely going to play a good line for them (not with a market full of other options that would allow for better lines).
Yooo throw a BRUNSWICK TWIST!!! $70 ball vs this $309 ball lmao hahah ;D REVIEW the BRUNSWICK TWIST. Top of tha line ball vs Bottom BYTCH yea yayay ;D I'm getting a 3rd Twist its AMAZING!!!! =D

Well as long as you loft it 35ft and your breakpoint is the pocket that's the ball to use
🤣🤣🤣
I just like watching you throw the rock lol.
💪🏿💪🏿
You really went ethnic there 😂
Respect!
So you know the struggle...🤣🤣🤣
Man where you were bowling at the lanes dry as hell compared to the alley I work at. I throw one hand no thumb and when I use my jackel ambush I stand like 23 and throw 15 on the right side and it doesn't over hook. But if I stand left and try to hit like 10 board down lane my pearl ball will ice skate and hit 3 pin of I get lucky lol. And I like your video
Oh and also I got my jackel ambush for 220 with drilling
Yea, area is a factor that companies don't think about.
Some of us that are speed dominant actually do need a ball that hooks at your feet sometimes. 🤷♂️
If i was bowling on what you’re bowling on I wouldn’t even take it out of the trunk.
My thing is EVERY review I saw was on house. I don't promote or sell anything as a business that I wouldn't use.
I’m still using my blue hammer 😂
this is what i have my forge flare drilled like. burns up instantly on house shot. destroys the challenge flat patterns.
You plan on getting this?
@@hihbowling not at 300 bucks. I was for sure a 3 ball a year guy before the prices went sky high, I just can't justify it. especially when I'm not killing my forge.
@scottweiderman9286 it isn't 300 bucks that's motivs recommended price, every where iv seen it has been 200 bucks. I just bought my ambush from my proshop and it was 200 bucks
This ball is goated for badger
Spelled dumpster wrong....lol
I am curious? What polish did you use? The reason I ask. I use to resurface, my Ex Wife's and my equipment, yes, I had a ball spinner, but the polish I used was.... 3m Finesse it 2, at that time it was 35.00 a Quart, now it is 70.00 a Quart
Think they used Reacta.
Facts!!! If these balls are so great why is there a rush to replace them every month?
Facts. Useless...lol
Please give Motive another chance and review the Carbide and the Shock.
Might do the primal...
I'm so glad I bought the Ghost instead of the Ambush.
Don't even see staffers throw it..lol
Love this TRUTH. They ain’t trying to hear it though.
Not at all...lol
The disrespect.....🤣🤣🤣 my man's said chittlin juice.
🤣🤣🤣🤷🏿♂️
I need a ball like that because some centers don't take care of thier oil machine, especially the squeege, and there is no friction at the backend.
Well it's definitely a hook monster, not suprised in the slightest it didn't work with you.
Had 0 expectations but not this!
@@hihbowling can't even be mad lmao it's comedic hopefully the guy who got it has more oil at his home center

I need you to do a review of the Primal Shock please
🤔🤔
Which ball do you like better the Ambush or the Gem?😂😅😂 I never laughed so hard. That thing rolled out at the arrows 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🗑🗑
Exotic Gem hooked too early and was DOA downlane. Proton is 🐐 and the Mythic was nice.
@@hihbowling I could maybe get on board with that. I have a slow two hander on league that isn't getting anything out of theirs. The lower rev guys love it though
Ik heb de primal 14 pond gekocht , voor heavy olie ik ben benieuwd , hij moet nog geboort worden 🙌
Don't mean it's junk cause it's not for you and your rev rate... surprised coming from u bro" give it up bro I will gladly throw that rock...
Staffers have confirmed. I sold it same day for 4.99. I called the Gem trash too, nothing new...lol
@hihbowling yea I feel you on that Gem.. but also seen a guy do a 834 series with it also. Different strokes for different folks "literally "
4:37 classic reaction of my gem on lanes where is so low ovlume of oil lol
What do I owe you? Thanks for the Super Nova review.
🤣🤣🤣🤣. Wasn't the intention but the footage doesn't lie.
That went EXACTLY the way I thought it would 😂. Ball dug a trench in the lanes lmao.
🤣🤣🤣. Hoped the pin down would've helped that out.
@@stephenlevine3116 That's a rarity for sure. At my Bowlero, this thing would end up at the seven pin every time.
@Mikey it definitely is! Funny enough, every house I have been to since feels dry in comparison. But then when I got back to it after going elsewhere, it throws me off 😂
Chitlin juice 😂 good video bro
So, here's my hang up with this "review":
You didn't even try to explain or show where this may be in play.
Much respect!!
first 5...was that out of box finish?? or did you hit it with some surface??
Nope. EVERY review I do I out of box. That 2nd 5 rarely happens,.

I threw this at the demo day was not impressed at all, even with neutral drilling. But I'm also partial to hybrids.
Then I threw the sky raptor and that has been the worst bowling ball I have ever threw, even the motiv rep was saying that the sky raptor is situational use.
Yikes....back to back duds huh?
@@hihbowling I don't own any motiv balls personally but I did fall in love with the ripcord launch. If I had a spot forward in my bag I'd have one but there's just no spot.
I am thinking about exchanging my hyped hybrid to the fatal venom though, do you think this would be a good change out?
Why you try to change the cover stock of they bowling ball
Is this better than the Absolute?
Haven't thrown it.
People need to stop paying outrageous prices from any company.
Facts. 120 and under is my real go to!
how many 300 games u bowled?
I've shot them, I usually bowl in the dumps for the $$.
Proton Physix and Choice Solid were two balls I loved! Both we at 2k OOB.
You should never need anything say less than 2k, unless it's urethane
I can think of a few high school girls my sister bowled with who’d love this ball.
That might be the market.
For 280 bucks drilled, I’m not sure they could afford many of them
Half of them use the biggest ball there is. An extra 40 dollars is most likely worth it when nothing really hooks.
People will be mad, but it is what it is. 🤷🏾♂️
Just call it as I see it.
Sometimes I feel bad for pro shops with people coming in ordering the next “hook monster” and then bitching about why it doesn’t cover as many boards as their low end reactive.
Yea, it sounds good. Low end is really the way to go to visually see reaction.
I threw mine for a few games on various patterns and have it yo one of the Jr's when I was done. I have a 475 rev rate and this thing just wasn't it. My problem isn't getting the ball to read it's getting it down lane. So hard pass.
Lol...I know it's not just me but people won't say it because they have balls to sell and promote.
@@travishanson166 thats not 700 rpm. Not even 600.
I've never seen you struggle like this. Wow. I'd have assumed this would be a good ball for you.

Despite the bad motion it carries when you get it there
No way I'm paying 300 bucks for a bowling ball. Big strong balls don't make you bowl better. It's like thinking a pair of Jordans will turn you into a basketball star. Lol
BIG FACTS!!!
I totally agree about ball companies need to stop this, our ball hooks the most! We do not needs balls to hook at our f&$?ing feet!!
Even Ej didn’t throw this at the US Open. C’Mon Man!!
Because thr majority of bowlers don't have 400 plus revs let alone 200
motiv people have a tough time stopping the cap
Footage doesn't lie!
$70 ball vs this $309 ball lmao hahah ;D

Ultimate Inferno was one of the original cheat codes!!
You’ll be looking for a long time bowlers on the tour that were sponsored by other companies were using that ball. I got 3 new ones undrilled that’s my benchmark ball even on today’s sport patterns.
Make the surfaces the same and then compare. Are the drillings the same, using the same variables? Ball was supposed to be a monster, and you just proved it.
Companies make balls like this because most league bowlers have low revs and/or week axis tilt to create a hook. This ball is for those people. I’d personally never buy it. I usually resort to a polished Hyroad Pearl by game 3 every league night.
