Editing. Bruh you watched 30 seconds of an already condensed show. Context is completely gone. Drug addiction is a very nuanced thing. Whether human life intrinsically has value is a separate argument entirely. How many people have enabled an alcoholic?
Consider this hypothetical. You have your buddy come to you and ask to grab a drink and chat because they are in a crisis. You buy some beer and go over to have a chat with him, and things seem to be better. You later learn he drove drunk after you left and died in an accident. Would you say that the buddy providing beer is responsible for that death? Having someone come to your house and overdose there isn't much different besidesu the substance. People take opiates every day and some of them live to 90 while others never hit 18. Bad batches exist, stronger non-homogeneous batches exist. The nature of an unregulated substance is inconsistency and people die because of it every single day.
The complexity of this issue is so far beyond discourse on the internet. If this person didn't sell to this addict who knows how things would have changed. Maybe they are forced to go out and find a different supplier with stronger stuff and they overdose there. Maybe they go to a more expensive source and are forced to commit crime to afford it. Maybe they can't get a fix and their desperation leads them to trying a stronger cheaper option. So many opiate addicts in the states started with painkillers prescribed by a doctor and that exact situation happens when their prescription runs out. Addiction cannot be condensed and have it's nuance stripped of it while having any sort of meaningful conversation about it.
These comments are absolutely insane to me. I think we can all agree that what happened wasn't a good thing. But there is a legitimate reason why they weren't charged with manslaughter. They didn't kill anyone. Someone died in her presence through their own actions. If I hand someone a knife it isn't my intention that they stab themselves with it. If they did, have I committed a crime? If that person needed to cut the rope binding their hands but instead slit their throat am I to blame for providing them with a weapon intending for them to use it as a tool? This situation is too complex for a metaphor to accurately portray its depth. Editing it down into a 30 second video grants the videographer complete rights to its message regardless.

I went and watched the original video and you cut out the context that came later. They originally say what they where charged with and didn't give context until later in the video. She, along with her friend where addict, her friend was starting to go through bad with calls her for a gram because he was going to be "dope sick" and need to work the next day as apart of his parole. He had been struggling to go clean but was back sliding, so she gave him the drugs and he ended up overdosing alone at his home and passed away. The part with her arguing isn't that it wasn't serious or tragic but it was her arguing weather or not other crimes should go between her and the man who shot and killed someone else. The argument mostly being she never intended to hurt her friend, that her contacted her. The coin flip was referring on some times she asked him or he her or drugs.

A common theme of who are addicted to drugs is when they are using they will never take accountability for anything whatsoever. After they have been clean for a day or two it improves considerably or goes away entirely. If you are arguing with someone with an addiction to hard drugs just know you are wasting your time.
