Playing like a 1900 without knowing elementary king pawn endgames❤
It's endgames again Patrick. It was completely won for you. This position - is 20:08 - is a classic endgame. Your king has to stay on g7 and h7. The check is not a problem if you are on one of these two squares. Meanwhile, you can bring your bishop around to win their b7 pawn. You need to play Be2 and Ba6. But, as often is the case, you are moving your king forward thinking about how you can attack when the biggest threat is that b7 pawn and you should be 100% concerned with how to get rid of it.
And even at 20:53, you shouldn't lose this. But your focus is on what you can do (attacking the rook) completely ignoring what they can do (and not noticing that they can take your bishop).
But it turns out that white is as bad as you at endgames. First they hang their rook and then at 21:56 it is a solid draw if white knows how to play K+p v K. Sadly, they don't, Looking forward to the review of this one.
But you are over 1450 which is great news.
Yes he seemed blissfully unaware that he was headed for a draw and not a win, had opponent not blundered at the very end. I'll admit that a small part of me was looking forward to the "oh nooooo" reaction.
This is very helpful. Hopefully, Patrick feels the same way. It'd be great to see him break 1600 before the end of the year.
@@timothyottawa6394 1600 before the end of which year?
21.53 I WON .. NO its a 100% easy draw just your opponent does not understand opposition , neither unfortunately do you, what's even more unfortunate is even in the analysis where the computer is telling you its a draw you think you `figured it out` rather than he blundered, you can`t learn from analysing a game if you don`t even read what its telling you in black and white.
Patrick: I won, I won! My king and rook fork won me the game!
Game review: Yeah, about that....
Patrick: I'm not listening! I'm not listening!
900 elo here...... I'm with Patrick..... 100% a win at 21.53..... (right, now I'm going to try to work out why I'm totally wrong)
@@greg7857 advice .. study `the opposition` its about keeping your king in a certain pattern to prevent the opponents king advancing, that position ends in a stalemate because of the position of the kings
Prediction for the Dec. 1 big change coming. I'll guess that Patrick is going to do something totally different, put chess on the shelf for a while. Some other game or activity, maybe create a new ID and see how big he can grow his channel.
End games are nearly always the weakest part of the 1400 to 1600 players. You have to be able to negotiate these well to climb any higher
This is true, speaking from personal xp
You got lucky with this one. Maybe buy a lottery ticket whilst your luck is in Patrick
Very sloppy game on both sides. White had enough time to try for a stalemate trap but fortunately resigned.
ICBM hiting my city didn't make me so nervous as Patrick's games:) Congrats with the win!
🤓 Ermmm aktually it wasn't an ICBM
6 more days left of hearing about DECEMBER 1ST
With all the build-up I'll be disappointed if it turns out to be anything less than the Rapture
Nice Mickey Mouse win
I so thought you were going to resign. Way to hang in there!
TL:DR Two 14-1500 ranked players desperately trying to throw the game... 🤣
hey patrick, wats opposition??
patrick: ez, the noun for to oppose... his enthusiasm for a win as his opponent takes opposition is infectuous... basically day 1 of chess 101... coming dec 1, patrick plays guitar everyday till he can play smoke on the water
Opponent had the draw until the mistake at the end, so "yay I won" was a bit premature. Am I a bad person for hoping for one last surprised "oh noooo"?
Incredibly poor endgame techique by both players!!
And not just the opposition part.
fortunately, the opponent was the character from the story about the lion and the stone as well
2 days in a row that you were up a full piece during an endgame and nearly blundered it away.
Wow. “…and that’s why you always leave a note…er, umm…you never resign at this level…”. I think I quoted Arrested Development correctly….😂
I really had it in my head that you had forced checkmate in 2 at one point when their king was wedged in the left side.
Blunders happens at this rating range. But an opponent with a 1500 rating who plays Bxh7 and don’t know that that bishop must be retreated immediately? And who doesn’t know the opposition rules with the king in that endgame? It stays remarkable 🤔
Well done, Patrick. Very entertaining game!
Wow what a rollercoaster finish!
do u study at all? or just play
I found your channel last week and I've been watching ever since. You should definitely keep going!
The check from the rook which cost you your rook could have been avoided as shown in the analysis. However, its a concept worth learning anyway as its common in alot of games!
I beleive in most greek gift sacs the king moving forward is best in most lines.
Wow! Bumpy ride that one was
I stumbled on this channel and enjoy it a lot. My opinion you didn't ask for - I'm probably no better a player than you Patrick, but from binge-watching your videos recently I think you spend too much time on tactics instead of having a plan and trying to implement that, and only looking for combinations when the plan is working. You're way ahead of me at spotting tactics but you often play weird moves when there is a natural alternative. You would probably see a huge bump in your ELO if you engaged a coach.
Never in doubt! Nice sack in order to demonstrate the power of connected pass pawns😅
Nice save! What a game!
Crazy end game, well done!
WHAT A JOURNEY
I can’t help but feel most of these commenters are sub 1500 ELO
I suggest you read Pandolfini's Endgame Course. Perfect for someone with limited time for study.
Dont waste time on the analysis.
No need to use tools that can improve your game .
2.000 is of course happening.
Just hope , and play on like the last 500 days.
Good luck.
It is amazing how 9 out of 10 comments here are condescending remarks of people aggresively criticizing his approach in pursuing his alleged goal. There is a difference between making a suggestion and using this anonymous space to feel superior in a childish way.
Wwowowowow unbelievable
