Today, with just about enough of a complete picture to actually do some speculation, we're taking a look at the Kestrel Colonial Force. Sitting archetypally somewhere between Neoterra and the Shock Army of Acontecimento, Kestrel is a fascinating force and includes several high watermark and/or very interesting pieces that offer a huge amount to prospective players.
You're my favorite UA-camr for infinity knowledge. I hope you do your 101 video series in the new edition. Recommend your videos for all of my friends.
Thank you for this breakdown. I love how they designed Kestrel as you are not reliant on a single big gun but multiple scary guns. When n5 launches, I would love your take on Vanilla Haqqislam. Maggie seems much more viable with the huge price drop.
It's pretty important not to be taken in by the anchoring effect (i.e. new maggie is good just because she's discounted compared to old maggie) but... new maggie might be good. Even if just in Dashat, but I'll be looking at her in all her possible homes.
Woah, wait, hold on... I missed the part about Albedo applying its penalty to models with Marksmanship. That makes it significantly better than I thought; Marksmanship models are pretty rare but generally very dangerous, and something you'd really want a tech piece against.
Obviously nobody can say for sure, but I think Markmanship has gotten more common in N5 (along with BS Attack (-3) and a lot of other skills). I've seen it on a surprising number of profiles.
I had admittedly not realized that you can chuck Marksmanship onto the HRMC drumbot. I will do this, if only for the lulz I don't even care whether it's great or not.
Koni, their chief warcor, said it would release "in a few days" yesterday but who knows how accurate that is or if it will be moved again.... The jackals will probably be some kind of a warband, their lore book entry says they are ateks that do minescorps wetwork and other unpleasant/dangerous jobs because they have no choice.
@@tnexus13 Well yes, all time is made of days, but days away means "a few days away" whereas 300 days away would usually be said as "10 months away" or 14 days away would be "two weeks away". We'll have to see but I want to believe...
Lovely video as always! You are one of teh Reasons I might ACTUALLY play PanO for the first time ever. Hoping we see a video like this for shindenbutai as well so we can get a before and after
One thing you forget about the Hektari and the Red Fury is that the model has M6-2 which makes a lot of difference for how easy it is to get in good ranges and firing lanes. M6-2 does a lot more than people realise for weapons with shorter ranges than weapons with long ranges. If you have an optimal range of 32", then you can easily reach out and touch someone. If the optimal range is 24" or lower, that extra 2" of movement does a lot for getting that optimal range.
I hope that the price of G: Mnemonica is lowered as well because while the ability is good, it's overcosted in a reality where CoC exists. I also hope that a lot of HI will be M6-2 because while it does little for heavier weapons, it means the world of difference for weapons with rifle ranges.
I could imagine Neurocinetics being changed from what it is now. In N4, it's an incredibly powerful skill, you can see that in the availability of it across the factions being quite low. It seems to be a lot more common in N5 and to maintain game balance, the power of it would have to be reduced. Unless CB has said that, it remains unchanged. If it remains as it is in N4, then a profile such as the Ariadnan Vystrel will be a nightmare to dislodge as it has Sapper and Neurocinetics. The cheapest Neurocinetics version of it is 26 points, and it's identical to the non-Neurocinetic version at 23 points. Three points for such a powerful skill as it is in N4 seems off. The closest comparison in N4 is Atalanta and there you still have the difference in profiles ofHidden Deployment and Total Reaction rather than Neurocinetics
If Red Furies keep the 0 24-32" range-band that's *still* a BS14 B4+1 PS7 AP/Shock gun imposing BS-3 out to 32". Which is... perfectly viable vs... yeah, most targets.
I wonder if default jump 6" means that super-jumping troops can essentially constantly parkour for 6 inches instead of their own 4 without using cover, just by claiming they make a really long jump
It's 4 total. He transmutes and triggers the escape system after he's taken 3. So effectively, 3 wounds as a TAG, 1 wound as a pilot. But, if you have a Doctor (2W) somewhere, you could restore pilot Max back to 2W.
How do you think Morats will fair, given the fireteam changes? Particularly given, getting to duo is the most important mark. Feels like it nukes their thing
Nah, I'm moderately optimistic. Morat duo potential is *insane*. Just to give an N4 example, I've run a Suryat Tac Aware Tinbot HMG duo'd with a Dartok. That gets the duo bonus in MAF in N5.
@@kegofort we've already seen the Sogorat get a buff. The other stuff is trickier to say. The whole faction already got immunity to BS Attack (-X) as a baseline. I don't know if they need a ton else, even with the loss of a couple points of BS on a few models due to core link changes.
Now i know it's not the subject of the video... BUT. I know you dislike the guilang, but what if guilang MSR as a "Nikoul we have at home"? its one less BS, but has mimetism and a camo state, by using infiltration, you can potentially put it somewhere where it will have cover and protect your DZ on those dead tournament tables as a roundabout way of mimicing the sapper skill.
It's one less BS, and one less wound, and five points more expensive, and the nikoul has mimetism (-3) anyway thanks to sapper, and the nikoul can be given a symbiomate. I think calling the Guilang "the nikoul we have at home" is either a touch generous or a terrible indictment of the home in question.

Man, I really love the interesting Fusilier profiles. I wish more factions had interesting line trooper profiles
Some factions do (e.g. Haqq) but it would be really nice for it to be more common.

He didn't say in a few days, he said 'days away'. Yes, often used to mean imminent, 3 days or 300 days is days away!

Troops jump 6" standard but it now must be measured from the base of the silhouette, which i imagine is the compensating factor.

I mention it above. But Marksmanship + 0 range bands + high base BS is a scary combo.

I don't see any reason they wouldn't be able to.
Question, does Maximus in total have 7 hit points? 3 for the tag then 4 for the operator/person? Or am i misreading that?
