It’s not that we become smarter. Our eyes are opened to how our husbands are treating us. As a Hmong woman, I am empowered by these stories because they are my story too. We put up with a lot but after listening to these stories we realize that we have been treated wrong. I can say that my second marriage is much better than my first because I know what I want and he treats me the way I want.
