Curious what weights did you get after growing out of the bowflex? I just got mine today, so it’ll be all I need for a while. I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for 50lb, then 70lb, which sounds like the most I’d ever need - but I’ll probably get a second bowflex first.

I picked up the Titan and it's a great kettlebell. Changing the weight is much slower than the bowflex (I had the bowflex and returned it), but it's perfect for my needs. I returned the bowflex because my hand kept hitting the dial and the design is shitty for the 45 degree kettlebell grip.

@@joecowan3719 highly recommend if you outgrow your powerblocks
You'll still get some decent resale on the Powerblocks too I'd imagine
I have 2 sets of Ironmasters as I find them superior for heavy compounds over lighter accessory movements so I do all my pressing, rows, shrugs, RDLs etc with them and always leave 1 pair loaded with at least 55lbs so I'm not changing plates all the time.
Ive got a 75lb set and a 45lb set and 2 kettlebells, but I also have the 120lb add on kit to expand the 75 pounders. For the really big boys, there's a 165lb add on too, but that voids the lifetime warranty as apparently they weren't designed originally to go that big, so I'll probably add the heavy handle kit in due course and that will max out the 120lb set at 135lbs and should retain its lifetime warranty still. 135lbs is just over 60kgs so plenty of weight there.

@@redwhiteandblueblood Thanks! I think we will do something similar, keep the Power Blocks for any workers from 5-90 and drop sets and use the Ironmasters for the heavy work. If I am lucky enough to get strong enough to need up to 165lb dbs then I can get one of the DB spotter systems. By the time I need to expand to the Ironmaster, the surge in demand will have ended and I may be lucky enough to snag a set on the used market as well. For starters, the plastic encasing that the Bowflex has is actually quite nice because the encasing keeps the inner plates from your body from usage which some of the other adjustables lack. This is the best adjustable kettle on the market due to best design.

I dont think the Adjustable Competition bell got scored by the right criteria... it's the only 1 that's 100% the right shape and can be dropped without breaking. Kettlebells aren't meant for supersetting different weights conveniently like dumbells, and when using 2 at a time there will always be wear on the finish, and I don't think kettlebell/bull kings version is exactly the same as titan fitness ... I haven't had both in hand I only have the kettlebell kings version but really saved sooo much space and money and it works great. tip: get a couple PVC cut at different lengths to put inside the bell before you load the weights to get the distribution a bit better

As a new lifter, will I likely notice a big difference between Amazon basics 50lb cast iron vs something over twice as expensive like USA Kettlebells/Kettlebell Kings? I never mind spending extra on items that will last a lifetime - but unless the comfort level is night and day difference, I would imagine the basic kettlebells will be good enough and could last just as long, since I don’t bang up or drop my equipment.

    • @stefhirsch6922
      @stefhirsch6922 2 роки тому

I’ve used cheap kettlebells. Cheap kettlebells are made out of a different type of cast iron which is weaker and prone to having the handle break off from the rest of the weight. Cheap kettlebells also have poor finishing on the handles with rough slag and junk on the handles which will tear up your hands. They also have a finish which is either too slippery or rough and grippy so it will either be hard to hold onto or tear up your hands while being delicate. A cheaply finished kettlebell handle can be made to feel better by sanding all of the finish off and the metal smoother. Power tools are your friend and it’s still a hassle. Assume that the finish contains mystery toxins from China - wear a mask (preferably n95), outside and eye protection. If you’re going to be using the kettlebells regularly get some from a reputable name brand such as muscle driver, dragon door, Ader, american iron, kettlebell kings, kettlebells USA, SoCal kettlebellz, bells of steel…. I’m a fan of competition style bells vs cast iron but i have and use both. Adjustable competition style are worth looking into 26-70lbs/12-32kg they feel like real kettlebells in your hands and can be dropped. Kettlebells allow a variety of movements which intentionally or not leads to dropping them such as catch and flips, bottoms up presses, waiters press, loaded carries (weight at your side, racked, overhead…), throwing them (I mostly train in sand)… A kettlebell is a tool to get a job done. a well made kettlebell will last for generations of what I describe just fine. In fact a few of my kettlebells are 14 years old and still in action. Proper form when doing olympic weightlifting movements involves dropping the bar. Proper form for deadlifting means that you largely ingnore the negative and (nearly?) drop the bar. A kettlebell is going to get dropped like a hammer gets pounded. If you do double work when lifting kettlebells such as when performing cleans the handles are likely to contact each other.

It’s expensive, at least in Europe, for what you get. You could buy 4 Rogue kettlebells for the same price (12, 16, 20 and 24kg) which is a no brainer for me.

How durable can a System be where the weight ist dynamically held by a single pin in axial direction?
I think thats a major difference comparing it to the dumbell

I like it but that bump in between the debits hurts your wrist unless you use the sides of the handle.

I just purchased two. So far it’s good. Like you said it’s not like cast iron, but for what I need and in my basement it works fine. Also, 40 pounds is not that lite depending on the exercise.

I found the Ironmaster Kettlebell handles are way better than Bowflex. And the plates are the same as the dumbbells. Only thing that ironmaster can do is change weights in seconds.

This one is a hard pass for me. For the weight, this one is a case where adjustable dumbbells are a better option if you need something adjustable. For kettlebell training, stick with the original.

The kettlebell kings adjustable kettlebells are nice. They aren't as easy to switch weights but they go to 70lbs

A few other companies sell the same comp style adjustable bells as kettlebell kings such as SoCal kettlebellz or bells of steel. Titan has some which are similar but not exactly the same. Another thing about the adjustable comp bells is that they feel like a real kettlebell vs kind of like a kettlebell and they’re all steel (with iron plates) and the only plastic that’s associated with them is a little bit in the packaging. Plastic is great stuff - but not for kettlebells.

@@stefhirsch6922 Since I left my original comment, I bought an adjustable competition-style bell from Kettlebell Kings and I LOVE IT!
Have to agree with everything you said about how they feel and handle. I'll look into the other brands you mentioned since it's always good to have options.
Now I only wish they had an option to go up to 48kg. The jump from 32kg to 48kg is a bit too steep for me for pressing.

@@fallingleaveskungfu a few other companies sell the exact same thing as the kettlebell kings competition style adjustable kettlebell. At least in North America bells of steel and “SoCal kettlebellz” have the exact same thing as the KK one. I’ve got 3 adjustable comp style adjustable kettlebells from titan which are basically the same but the fit/finish isn’t as nice - they also only come with 1 wrench which is the 8mm hex wrench. To make a kettlebell a little heavier you can either tie a weight plate onto the handle or duct tape a plate (or plates) onto the bottom (making an x where it wraps around most of the round part) both work. If doing swings, presses, tgu, windmills, loaded carries… either work. If you want to do cleans or snatches duct tape will get the job done. I used gorilla duct tape but haven’t tried other types. The plate(s) might shift a little but were surprisingly solid. I only used 1.25, 2.5, 3 and 5lb plates with the duct tape. I’d proceed with caution if I wanted to try to add 20lbs/9kg. Having the extra weight come loose and falling on your head is a concern.
