I adore Lesli. I adore Max. I ADORE Judy Garland. However, I don't like the idea that this could be some uplifting, sugary thing. Her life was heartbreaking...
I agree on all fronts. But since it says in the description that it's based on her early career and taking the title into account, I'm guessing it only goes up to her being in The Wizard Of Oz - maybe a little bit beyond, but either way I doubt it would go much further than that. And shows can be both heartbreaking *and* uplifting, and let's not forget that when it comes to performing songs/scenes for the press, they tend to choose some of the most "spectacular" numbers in the show which also happen to often be the most fun.
Stage Rat It probably is just about her early career/Wizard but that was the heartbreaking part. Louis Meyer treated her terribly during the making of that film. Not to mention the fact that (and this is, I assume, a spoiler for the musical) her father died.
@@baileyboone5429 I saw it, and trust me, it goes into those dark parts quite extensively. It focuses on the abuse she faced by Meyer and the studio as well as her family troubles with her parents affairs. It showed the bright peaks in her life but it really was not a happy musical in my opinion, and that somber tone was appropriate
Max von Essen!! I saw him when he was on tour for Falsettos and he was amazing!!!
As a huge Tuck Everlasting fan, all I can hear is Hugo when Michael Wartella sings
I’m so excited for Lesli!
Aw, I saw Ruby in Billy Elliot back in the day! Love seeing these kids stick with performing!
saw Max Von Essen live in the Falsettos tour when they came to chicago! can't wait to see more of him :,)
This better finally make it to broadway this year!
I’d see in again and again
Nice to see Michael Wartella back on Broadway after recently being in Willy Wonka.
gramps2matt he was working on this at the same time.
I saw it at Goodspeed and it was wonderful, wish I could see it again and it would be a shame if it never goes to Broadway
