I'm glad to hear that you found the video helpful! It sounds like you're planning to replace the wheel bearing on your 2008 Ford Fiesta with a 1.6 TDCi engine, even though it passed its MOT (Ministry of Transport) with slight play in the wheel bearing. If you have already purchased a new wheel bearing, you can proceed with the replacement.
Here are some general steps to follow when replacing a wheel bearing:
Lift the car: First, you'll need to safely lift the car using a jack and jack stands. Make sure the car is securely supported before you start working on it.
Remove the wheel: Remove the wheel where you'll be replacing the wheel bearing. This will give you access to the hub assembly.
Remove the brake components: Depending on the design of your Fiesta's brakes, you may need to remove the brake caliper and rotor to access the hub assembly. Make sure to properly support and secure the brake components so they don't hang by the brake lines.
Disconnect any ABS sensors or wheel speed sensors if applicable.
Remove the hub assembly: You'll need to remove the hub assembly to access the wheel bearing. This typically involves removing the bolts that secure it to the steering knuckle or control arm.
Press out the old bearing: You may need a special tool like a bearing press to remove the old bearing from the hub assembly.
Install the new bearing: Use the appropriate tools to press the new wheel bearing into the hub assembly. Make sure it's properly seated and secured.
Reassemble everything: Reverse the process to put everything back together. Reinstall the hub assembly, brake components, ABS or wheel speed sensors, and the wheel itself.
Torque to specification: Make sure to torque all bolts and nuts to the manufacturer's specifications to ensure everything is properly secured.
Test drive: After completing the replacement, take your car for a test drive to ensure that everything is working correctly and there are no unusual noises or issues.
It's important to follow the specific instructions in your vehicle's repair manual, as the exact steps and torque specifications can vary depending on the make and model of your car. If you're not confident in your ability to perform this task, it's a good idea to seek the help of a qualified mechanic. Additionally, consider having the alignment checked after replacing the wheel bearing to ensure your tires wear evenly and your vehicle handles properly.

You're very welcome! I'm glad to hear you found the information helpful and detailed. Using a **10-ton or 20-ton hydraulic press** is indeed a great investment for a DIY enthusiast, as it provides the necessary force to press bearings smoothly and safely. The old-school method with a chisel and hammer works in a pinch, but it does require more patience and precision to avoid damaging the bearing or hub.
Thank you again for your support, and I'm always here if you need more tips or advice on your DIY projects. Good luck with your wheel bearing replacement, and happy wrenching! All the best!

Good video thanks. Is it possible to do it without hydraulic press ?

Yes, it's possible to replace a rear wheel bearing without a hydraulic press, but it may require alternative tools and techniques. Here's a general outline of how you might approach it:
Remove the Wheel: First, remove the wheel where the bearing needs replacement. This usually involves lifting the vehicle, supporting it securely, and using appropriate tools to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
Remove Brake Components: Depending on the vehicle, you may need to remove the brake caliper, caliper bracket, and rotor to access the wheel hub and bearing assembly.
Remove the Axle Nut: There is usually a large nut in the center of the hub that secures the axle shaft. You'll need to remove this nut to access the hub.
Disconnect the Hub: The hub is typically bolted or pressed onto the axle shaft. You may need to unbolt it or use a wheel hub puller tool to separate it from the axle.
Remove the Bearing: Once the hub is removed, you can access the bearing. If the bearing is pressed into the hub, you'll need to find a way to press it out. This can be done using a bearing puller tool, a hammer and punch (though this is less recommended), or even by heating the hub to expand it slightly, making it easier to remove the bearing. You may also be able to take it to a machine shop where they can press out the old bearing for you.
Install the New Bearing: The new bearing can be installed using similar techniques. If you don't have a press, you can often carefully tap it into place using a hammer and a socket that's the same size as the outer race of the bearing. Be sure to apply force evenly around the bearing to avoid damaging it.
Reassemble: Once the new bearing is installed, reassemble the hub, axle, brake components, and wheel.
Torque to Specifications: Finally, be sure to torque all bolts and nuts to the manufacturer's specifications to ensure everything is properly secured.
While a hydraulic press can make the process easier and more controlled, it's not always necessary if you're resourceful and careful. Just be sure to take your time, follow safety precautions, and consult your vehicle's repair manual for specific instructions. If you're uncomfortable with any step of the process, it's always best to seek professional assistance.
