Fantastic video, thank you very much! 4:34 just to double check, I think the pattern is 5-3-5-3-4-2-5> slide up, repeat with second chord, before switching down a string on the third chord.
Hey man, I just wanted to let you know that this is so inspiring for me. Hearing these sounds and your explanation to it gives me the feeling I had when I was 14 and watching the older dudes skate the park effortlessly well knowing its gonna be a long journey to get there. I didnt have this feeling in years. thanks man
Might be worth adding string notes to your chord diagrams, not only so folk know where their root note is, but when you inevitably do one of these in alternative tunings it may save confusion on those pause/ screenshot moments
Thanks for making such great content, I’ve been watching your videos and practicing some of the chords you teach on here for a few months and feel like I’ve learned more chords/techniques and been more inspired to mess around on the fretboard than I have in the last couple years 🙌💗
Awesome vid! you (along with jazz) are the reason i started playing the minor 7 in that finger positioning, as opposed to the ring, index and pinky fingering 🤝🤝👍
3:48 Hmm, so about that I have one question (could be non-related): So, how do we mix 2 strumming guitar together, like Tricot, for example? I mean, of course mostly Math-rock bands are playing with arpeggio, but of course some others play with strumming technique.
Got any easy standard tuning song recommendations? I like Japanese math rock but most, but I’m open to anything really. That would be really helpful. My goal would be to write pop-punk songs with some math rock flavor, so if you know some bands that would fit the description, I’d like to hear that too!
Hello! Thanks for the question. I have a playlist that may help you out: ua-cam.com/video/CdxoXIj2Xcs/v-deo.html the first chord progression blends math rock and pop together so it should be exactly what you are looking for. If you are looking for some poppunk style math rock bands, then I recommend checking out: Colour Tubelord Forests
Hey Steve, great video ! Just wanted to ask, maybe you’re talking about it in one of your videos but I couldn’t find it. Can you tell me what is the model of the hollow telecaster you’re using ? It’s a great one, cool tone and style !
Hello, I am still rather new to guitar and want to learn how to play and compose math rock. Any tips for getting my fingers used to making these shapes? I find myself muting or having buzzy notes when playing these chords.
I love your content and your mission At the same time I'm a gatekeeper And some of these chords are my favorite, they took me a while to figure out, figured them out by ear You're doing great But at the same time my gatekeeping ass thinks this will just make kids create music i'll cringe at cuz most ppl/bands can't write a good song for the life of them Idk just a thought lol
