I'm only now watching this trial so I don't know what will happen but at first glance, I don't see how the defense's opening could make this any better. He basically just explained exactly _how_ the defendant could be able to pull this off. We all know that most murders are committed by family or friends so how does her being so close to the victim help her cause?

When the detective was on the stand they were allowed to ask him questions about photos he didn't take or hadn't seen before without laying proper foundation and because it was cross examination the defense made strange misrepresentations about those photos. All because the prosecution didn't object to improper foundation when they offered the photo package into evidence. I think that particular prosecutor doesn't have as much experience as the other two. If you watch day 2, the defense also introduced photos of documents from that package and misrepresented their relevance, they were expired documents from the 80s and 90s. But because they were already admitted into evidence, the judge overruled objections. The prosecution cleared everything up during redirect but all of that could have been avoided if they objected properly in the first place but this current defense team is really something, you have to stay alert.

It's quite concerning. We can't be certain if all those medications were necessary and whether they may have been harmful. Instead of confining her to her home all day, the so-called "Care Takers" could have engaged her in various activities like swimming or other therapeutic options to help restore her physical and mental well-being to the best of her abilities.
