Thanks for the great information. Do you run rattles on your tournament rigs? If so, what size, glass or plastic, and where do you get your supply? Thanks.
Chris, if you were going to use a tournament rig with a 6" fly, would you just add beads above the Octopus hook or would the spacing of hooks have to be different? Also with a 6" fly, would you increase leader length? I thought I might pair it with an 11" flasher. This year I'm thinking with the size of Kings so big, they might like a big meal. Thanks
I like the idea. Put a couple beads above the Octopus hooks to put the hooks at the back of the fly. When running big paddles I never go shorter than a 36 inch leader. Sometimes as much as five or more feet.
Make sure u use pliers not ur teeth on the tag end to pull it tight. Just had a chip in my front tooth fixed at the dentist at least I no longer look like a hillbilly from tying fly leaders

I know this videos old but just found your channel did you ever try adding a glass rattle in your sergical tubing seems to help us allot
Sorry for the dumb question, but why do this? What's the theory behind running this rig to catch more fish?
Not a dumb question. Some feel that it gives them a greater chance to not loose the fish.
now that VMC Spark Point trebles aren't available what is your go to? I see a lot of people using Gama EWG short shank 2X.
when and why would you run a single hook over this two hook? I can't seem to find any information on when and where to run one over the other.
Personal preference.

Chip Eaton we don’t run rattles on our rigs. Might be interesting to experiment with though.

Where do you get the VMC Sparkpoint size 1 hooks? I have been having a hard time finding them. Is there anywhere you can buy them in bulk? Thanks
We used to be able to get them in bulk, but not anymore. You can find them usually in four or five packs online at various sites.
What is the leader wrap device you store your tournament rigs on ? Can't find it on their website. Thanks
Ryan Y I found those on eBay. Try doing a search for them there.
