I have the same problem with a small Inca JP. It would not run when I got it so replaced capacitor and it ran great. Now starts and runs for seconds, then trips the breaker. Bigger machines are running on that breaker. Strange that it ran in summer, maybe cold but still not right. Thinking the windings maybe.
That’s exactly where my brain went. I actually ended up selling it and getting an 8” grizzly to replace it which I like a lot better. But yes, I think it may have had a bad winding.
Thank you. I think you fixed my motor. It pops the breaker on start up when it's cold. It buzzes for a few secs, but then stops but it's just buzzing more and more lately and popping more often now.
That sounds like it could be the start capacitor then! I did learn there are a few other things it could be in the start circuit but the cap is a pretty easy and cheap first diagnostic step to rule out. Good Luck! Josh Northwest Craftsman
Unfortunately no, this has been a bear of an issue. Rather than trying to figure out why the motor was pulling so much and after realizing that basically every uniplane takes this long to start up, I re-wired the motor for 220 since this now spreads the amperage over two lines instead of 1. Problem now is my motor won’t even rotate and when I gave it a boost it blew up my start capacitor (that was exciting). I’m wondering if I have a dead coil internally or some other issue with the motor. So yea 😂 not yet 😂
Tried replacing the breaker to a «slower» breaker, that allows higher current withdrawl for short period of time. Normally used for when motors start up.
I’d do the same thing, my box is still a fuse box unfortunately and I haven’t been able to find a slow fuse option. Still debugging why I can’t get it to run in 220. At some point I’ll get it running 😂

Try using a multimeter and see if the there is a short.

My motor on a table saw has 2 capicitors
That’s not uncommon either. Many times that’s the start capacitor and run capacitor
