Very enlightening talks which everyone should listen to get inner peace and inner joy which is always happy so we have that inner diamond of joy which doesnt require any outside music it's the source of all happiness.❤❤
Thank you. Want to offer a suggestion. The biggest challenge the world faces is handling multiple thoughts. Be careful what you feed your mind. Feed trash and trash will come out. Avoid comparing yourself with others, avoid storing bottled up emotions, reduce watching negative social media-fake news channels and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Thoughts keep changing. Your breath is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress and overthinking. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. You can sit straight on a chair, eyes closed but avoid deep breathing. If distracted bring focus back on the breath. Never meditate with expectations. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath before sleep, when travelling, when reading, at the workplace, in the park etc, Counting backwards slowly from 50 to 0 also reduces overthinking. Best wishes--Counsellor.
Thank you ☺️🙏🏼 this is great! I relate as someone with a history of panic attacks. I appreciate the light-heartedness… pizza come, pizza go 😂 perfectly ok 👍🏽
i have wondered the same thing and this is the answer that has come to me. I don't know if it's correct, it's just my understanding. when you are aware that you 'have trouble recognising, and don't understand...' this awareness is imbued with a desire to recognise and a desire to understand. you may for example feel frustrated that 'i just don't get it'. why? because you want what's best for yourself. you want to be happy and free from suffering. you instinctively recognise that not understanding this point is a cause of suffering for yourself and immediately upon recognising this, you don't want to suffer. likewise, when we see someone else who is suffering, perhaps a homeless person on the streets, the instant we are aware of this, we feel for that person. If we don't feel for this person, it's not because we lack compassion, but rather that our compassion has become distorted by ignorance, self-centredness, and our emotions. For example, we may walk past a homeless person and feel nothing, or even anger. In my experience, this is because we don't want to feel for this person because we don't want to feel pain and suffering. this is still compassion because we don't want to suffer, but it has become distorted by some sort of self-centredness or a fear that we cannot handle feeling for another person. in short, we are aware and this awareness has a natural warmth, meaning we look upon things with a sense of love and compassion, even if that love and compassion has become distorted. if you don't believe you have innate love and compassion, just ask yourself 'why did i make this comment in the first place?' I might be wrong, but i'm guessing it was done with the hope that someone would help you. this is love and compassion. as such, there is no question of whether or not we have love and compassion. the question is 'what is stopping this love and compassion from radiating outwards... what's getting in the way and blocking this innate love and compassion'. again, it may be ignorance, self-centredness or our emotions. Our job then, is not to become more loving and compassionate, but to remove these blocks. Hope this helps :)
I think he says awareness, love and compassion, and wisdom are your innate qualities. I don't think you can look for your own love and compassion anyway. Like your awareness, it reveals itself. 🙏🙏
In a meditative state, it is clearly seen that I and others are one and the same, consist of the same parts, and I simultaneously contain all other persons. And when you see it, you inevitably want peace and love to reign within it.
You are love. You are peace. You are innocence. It is your very nature. When you bring something which has no existence (illusion) into your awareness, it dissolves into oneness with you.
Yoga taught to all of you in the west is about different things but in reality yoga (pronounced (yo-guh) is about using your body with your breath to connect with awareness coming the word originates from "yuj" meaning union of body mind soul
Just do asanas don't care much about the end posture just connect with the body as it moves and maintain steady breath it'll be great for you especially for body scan meditation you'll connect with your body very well
imagine someone who is paralysed or bedridden. I'd like to think that spiritual enlightenment is available to them too. Therefore I do not think that yoga which is a physical path, is compulsory to enlightenment. However it is a good habit. I'd place it in the same category as other physical traditions like wisdom based martial arts, flower arrangement, archery etc. It teaches patience and discipline like the others. If you have time for a good habit and physical activity then go for it.
Yogic asanas are the first step towards awareness. In asanas the mind is accustomed to concentration. As Mingyur Rinpoche teaches, you can concentrate on anything. Concentration on asanas is one of the variants of concentration.
Yongey seems a really great man, even though there are no signs he ever reads the comments… Too bad he is not in the position to speak about real shit that bothers most laymen - relationships, excessive sexuality, overeating, substance… And that reflects in the number of views.
In the podcast he mentions jokingly about why levitation and flight are not topics for discussion. Because we have airplanes. Anyone with money can fly. I feel like the same could apply to the other topics. We now have dedicated books and experts for relationships, sexual problems etc. Rinpoche is an expert on meditation and so it's efficient and effective that he focuses on it. Also, I feel just the very act of practicing meditation over time makes the mind more workable and open. And thus will automatically impact other aspects of life.
9,000 views is a lot. what I think he is saying applies to your thoughts. To let those things be your teacher. For example overeating can be a teacher. Learning about it from it. And the pizza analogy. finding what are the emotional roots of the topics you bring up.
I race sailboat and my position is demanding and often criticized when problems occur... to bring awareness to breath really helps me be thankful an greatful, even for these sometimes deadly sail problems... even if we capsize... focus on breath. LOVE Compassion and Kindness save the day! ❤
Thanks Rinpoche. I have been meditating for several years now. I couldn't start for a long time, but thanks to Rinpoche, I found my way to meditation.

The innate love and compassion I have trouble recognizing, and don't understand why it is a part of awareness.

I would have loved to ask how important is yoga to get spiritual enlightenment and what are the benefits of certain asanas for example? :)
