- Jean Michel Jarre, Hank Marvin and band play a unique version of London Kid live at the Eiffel Tower, as part of the Eiffel Tower's 100th birthday festivities in summer 1989. It was the only song he played that evening.

Listening in February 2024.
Growing up as an 80's child, Jarre had a massive impact, love the music style and this collaboration was so good, and yes i am still watching jean michel jarre in April 2024
contagious smile of hank marvin
This version of London Kid is beautiful, it's the
first time I'm hearing it, and I love it.❤❤❤❤❤.
LOVE IT!👍❤GREAT LEGENDS.
At least there's one of them that can play live...well done Hank!!.
JMJ and Hank Marvin, two legends with their respective instruments and tecniques
Wonderful to see 2 great legends together
one of my fave tracks by Jarre. So uplifting and elating. Genius.
Hello ! Hank toujours avec le sourire !
Great tune performed by two legends.
Mon Idole .
So Hank Marvin used to be Jean Michel Jarre’s Guitar player. But then again if your Jean Michel Jarre, you can basically have who ever you want.
Hank didnt used to be Jean michels guitar player. They did London Kid together at the docklands concert. The sane as he had pink floyds drummer at the 12 dreams of the sun in Egypt
@@shaggy63 Hank was also his guitar player in France concerts as well.
David Gilmour of pink floyd was known for being a session guitarist, too. he played with sir paul mccartney , the late great kirsty mccoll and brought Kate Bush to the attention of EMI records and played on some of her songs. Fame doesn't stop you from playing along side who ever you want
@@Fcutdlady the pretty thing.
@@shaggy63And it's called "Collaboration" 😊
Still listening in 2021 xxxxxxxx
Again in 2023 xx
Bravo qué rolon dos grandes juntos , felicidades qué buen video.
This should have been a Radio Edit and single. Amazing. Uplifting and much better than the dull album version.
This man was way ahead of his time
Just as Jean.
Would love to see jean Michael jarre come back to the UK and do another concert in London
Me too! I had tickets in 2010 but started working in transport and was unable to go. Gutted. He's 75 now.... I'd say it's unlikely at best.
great performace J.M.J and H.Marvin.
fantastic and exciting
This is just amazing.
As was said in a prior comment, Jean Michel wanted to make the whole event a huge concert like his famous ones in Houston, Lyon and London but the French government intervened and only allowed him to play a small part.
So I PERSONALLY think that of all the songs he could have chosen from his catalogue he chose LONDON KID. LONDON, UK, HANK MARVIN... All things that are not exactly "French" so In my opinion in this performance he is mocking the organisers for not sticking to their word, but most of all the french political system for stopping him from doing an amazing show...
turds will be turds and giants will be giants. Jarre is a Giant!
Watching in 2022 xx
Still loving this in 2020xx
Great song
Hank ; He calls me 'Onk....
I call him Jeen Michelle Jar ! 😆
Loving this in 2019xx
Love this music xxxx
MARAVILHOSO !!!!!!!!!!!
Vendo em 31/12/2019.
2021 THE HEAT IS ON IN BUDAPEST!
what a great team love jean and seen the shadows twice in birmingham when i was a kid, great music even now for me and im only 35. my kids are into all this and the smiths madness etc all good stuff
N-Michel avec le sourire !!!
1979'-198910LAT❤❤❤❤❤KOCHAM JEAN,ACHIVES😊😊😊
Hank Marvin, one of the finest guitarists ever and probably the most underrated. Catch his impromtu join in with Rendez Vous IV on the Destination Docklands concert.
Sorry to say this Paul, but that wasn't impromptu. If you watch the recording, Hank is just strumming, the part he plays was recorded earlier. I still loved it though
Thats a very symbolic performance - French guy and English guy play together! As i know French and England were enemies
English & French aren't enemies .... it's like a love-hate relationship .... some days we mock each other, and on other days we stand together!
I think you need to open a history book, mate. Just saying..
France fought England for centuries ))
Francs (Normans) conquered England ))
French words are almost half of English )))
That's two GREAT nations !!!
Queria estar nesse show
I love this piece of music but it is slightly ironic that a song called london kid would be played at the anniversary of the biggest landmark in france !
I was there at the front in the rain magic.
Awesome Theme
LOOOOOVE IT! :)
Merci Julio Hi Jean .
Très bien merci
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fab - best qaulity seen of this clip !
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
JMJ!!!
20 20 anyone x
and Michel Geiss plays the Cavagnolo MIDY 20...
es genial.
You have to wonder who on earth in the french government at the time thought NOT having a huge scale JMJ concert was a good idea!
I mean, come on, there's a few fireworks going up and some spotlights, can you imagine what the alternative would have been!
This was like a colliding of worlds for me, listened (and still do..) to the Shadows as a I grew up listening to them thanks to my Dad, and JMJ from early years as a fledling IT geek in the 70's.
I think JMJ with this outfit could have had a guest slot on Miami Vice as a baddie tho :)
Did I see an Atari ST with maybe Cubase? 1:05m
This sounds better than the Docklands one (I think that the acoustics are different). Only thing I don't understand is why is Hank off to one side? For a moment, I didn't think he was there
It's probably to do with his faith.
Couldn't disagree more , the Docklands version is better is every respect
👍
I assume they don't play live, but I don't know this version, drums and synth are not the same?
It seems to be a special version, apparently mixed by Michel Geiss, that was never released. And only played once, during this concert, as far as I know.
Désolée pour d'affichage !
The 1988 Destination Docklands version where they play together live is so much better than this musically and in soul
I came here because of Honk.😂
It was supposed he hosted the main event... but... politcs facts doesn't allowed him.
It seems ridiculous to me.
