- In 1977, NASA launched two small spacecraft called Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. Weighing only 800 kgs each, they collected a wealth of scientific data and thousands of photographs of the four giant planets in our Solar System.
After visiting Jupiter and Saturn, Voyager 1's trajectory left the ecliptic plane in order to photograph Saturn's moon Titan. This meant that Voyager 1 would not visit any other planets. However, Voyager 2 continued on to visit Uranus and Neptune. Still today, Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft to have visited these two "ice giants" and their moons.
This music is dedicated to the two Voyager spacecraft and to the people who made them possible.

Dont let this video die…
Once you hear this song you will never forget it. What a pity that Rune doesn't continue to create and publish music!
That's a true fact, and for someone who has known this song for the past 8 to 9 years, I always come back here whenever I feel like it.
As a hobbyist synth musician myself, he’s a big influence on me. I hope everything is ok in his life, and I’d love to see him return to making music.
After 11 years I still never get bored with this video. Absolutely love the music.

I have watched this animation on TV (TRT1) 33 years ago I was amazed and stunned my childhood my development has changed. I can't stress enough, I can't thank enough for this. Thank you thank you thank you! 🤩😍
The best video on UA-cam
Attractive video and superb soundtrack!

You're a great!
This is without a doubt one of my favorite UA-cam videos. Now it's time to upload the 4K version hahaha
Greetings from Chile :)
At such a time, 10 years ago
this Video was launched, for me is considered one of the best works on UA-cam.
Thanks to the author of this great music
my favourite video! happy birthday

2019: 311k views...
Thank you. 🙂
I just keep coming back for more...this video has stuck with me over the years and I'm not complaining! I often think about what voyager 1 and 2 are seeing as I dream about the great void between our solar system and everything else...
When I was 3 years old, I fell in love with this video and watched it all the time. I remember that on my 4th birthday, I was still watching this video and my grandma said, "That's weird music, lol." I think it's a great song.
Thanks for that story, it really made my day!
Still one of the best videos on youtube. Maybe a remaster of the video is in order, for 2019 :)
Thank you! I am actually working on a new version of Voyager (the music) for the 10 year anniversary of this video. No promises though as it depends on how well it turns out in the end. Also, I'm not sure what video material to use, as I don't want to use potentially copyrighted material. So we'll see what happens.
@@rufo Hi there! Awesome work. The music is excellent as it is, though. I just wonder, if the video may be available in better quality by now, youtube being more HD and all that. Maybe asking NASA if they can provide a better resolution copy of the video material?
They are a government agency and so should be required to allow access.
@@rufo I believe all NASA MAterial is public licence, so I'd just shoot them a mail, with a link to this, and kindly ask if they can provide a better quality copy of it.
@@lutzderlurch7877 The source material is TV quality from the 70s and 80s, so I don't think it exists in HD. :)
@@rufo Not moder 4k HD, but I am sure any screengrab or VHS rip is likely of a lesser quality than what NASA has in store. 'It may be worth asking, if they don't have any, no harm asking anyways :)
It's unbelievable to realize that's those two spacecrafts still going and sending messages to earth. They are so far.. Infinity it's nothing otherwise you can't understand
Voyager + Voyager Earthrise are videos that I keep coming back to for the past 15 yrs.... For reasons I can't explain, they have helped me put things in perspective again, multiple times. Thank you.
Well done for posting this! This is a very interesting video.
2017 and still loving this...
Prophet 111 Thank you. :-)
one of the best electronic composition on UA-cam
greetings from Sweden ! (66° latitude)
The Voyager ships make me feel proud of humanity. They are one of the best things we have made real of all our dreams. It's exciting to me that, after 34 years, they are still working and they can execute commands sent by the Earth control. Thank you!
you`ll be happy to know that even 45 years later they are still working
One of the best music I have ever heard. When i'm listening this... the world seems to be so amazing and beautiful. I want to just say "Thank you ! " :)
Seriously.. I absolutely love this clip. You did a great job! The music goes beautifully with path of the voyager space crafts and the different images.
Hats off my friend.
I have been listening to this melodi for years now.
And still think this is the best homemade music on youtube.
The best thing about this is its got a real 70s feels to it. The video looks like some 70s educational video they would play in school and the music is perfect with that 70s sound. I heard your new version but this is much better.
You always return to where you were happy. I haven't listened to your music in a long time. I'm glad to hear it again! 😄
Vamos Voyager vamos, esta música te impulsa...
this was well made! still love it 11 years later.
Thanks for the Great Sounds.. Listened to it when it had only 4 hits. And many times since then too!
I love the music too. Very unique. I have this video on my favorites, so I hope it never goes away, as I couldn't find this song anywhere else. I like to listen to it at night or before I fall asleep as it is soothing.
Finna bring you back to this video again
Je pleure en écoutant et en regardant cette œuvre...
great music , one of the best i heard in my life !
Godspeed Voyager 1 and 2, unless you are retrieved in the distant future you'll traverse the stars until the end of time.
Has it really been 15 years since this gem of a video was made? 🥲
I'm normally not attracted by this kind of music, but this is very very nice, and a well done video. Thank you for uploading
Holy freaking moly, this is gold.
I also remember watching this video in 2009. Great music and great video Rune Roshaug. Brings back memories!
Thanks, lynksis12.
The song that played in my head during the worst times in my life. I'll always love you, Rune!
@@MistyHosier thank you! Your comment is truly heart warming. I hope the bad times are over!
Thank you! :-)
Yes, I did compose this music. :-)
The video, in combination with the awesome music makes it my most watched UA-cam video ever. Must have watched it like a hundred times at least. The music is just mesmerizing and captures the amazing achievement of the creators who sent the voyager probes to infinity perfectly. My hat's off to you.
Beautiful composition, moves me.
this music...so good
Who knows? Maybe in a thousand years or more, humanity has discovered a much faster way of travelling through spacetime.
Maybe then we'll go out there and retrieve them. :-)
Most realistically though, they'll go on for millions and millions of years until one day when they happen to collide with some object somewhere in our galaxy.
But look at it this way: the Voyager probes were created to fly in space, not to sit in a museum. They ARE at home where they are now. ;-)
The last paragraph gave me such melancholy...i can't decide if i should feel sad or proud...but i understand they'll still be in our hearts even after they've been lost or destroyed, thanks for making this video and comment nonetheless
After three years this is still one of the best original songs I've seen on UA-cam. :D
Thank you!
I guarantee that this video won't go away. The reason for that is the same as the reason why you couldn't find this song elsewhere... I have composed it. ;-)
There are no copyright infringements or other nasty business (music created by me, video is NASA public domain), so it'll stay on. :-)
Thank you for your kind comment.
Rune, this song pairs perfectly with the video. They have a sweet retro vibe to them and they take us far away from wherever we are when we enjoy your masterpiece.
This video and it's music will neve get old... I don't know when I watched it first but still not able to forget it.. ❤
I listening to this music almost everyday. it so mysterious. curious. awesome./ it make me feel explorer the space!!
Still listening to it and still not bored.
Found this video after it popped into my head a few days ago. Havent seen it in a decade. This music fuckin owns thanks so much
I listen to this during my darkest hours and it reminds me of my childhood years when my life wasn't stressful and when I actually had friends.
Thanks for all your kind comments!
Wow, 100 ratings, holding at 5 stars, along with 66 positive comments and almost 14,000 views! :-) :-)
More videos and homemade music will come. It just takes time to get them ready when there's work and eating and sleeping to be done along with my other interests. And of course inspiration comes and goes as well.
But so many kind words and so much positive feedback really makes it fun to upload songs. Thank you so much everyone.
;-)
Rune
I love these synth sounds and your melodies. I also own this combination (korg m3 and raidas exb) and this video is a great inspiration for me. well done!
i watch this at least once a year... absolutely love this vid and the music. we have come so far and done so much... 2:26 the music touched my soul
Yearly reminder to watch this vid again
Прекрасно!...
Просто чудо!!!
Oh, I love this video for a long time. Watched it so often. It´s so amazing to pass by and get such a wonderful view at the planets. And I love the music, too. Even tried to play it on my keyboard. And only by fucking now I realized that I never gave a thumb up??!! What´s wrong with me? Of course I did now.
Thank you! :-)
The lead sound is a Radias sound that I programmed from scratch. That also goes for the lead sound during the Saturn theme.
The main arpeggio sound (the one starting at 00:29) however, is from the M3, although it is from the Radias expansion card in the M3.
So there's a lot of Korg Radas action going on in this song. But some sounds (especially most of the percussion, bass and background tracks) are M3. And everything is recorded into and controlled from the M3's sequencer.
Love the music and the trance it creates in your mind. I have been listening to it since i think 2009. Thank you.
All of these video clips of the Voyager(s) still amazes me til this day
Just listened to this track again - AWESOME 💪👌👍🙏❤️
Прекрасная музыка, спасибо!
Right up my street!...Lovely!
one of those songs that keeps me inspired about the environment.makes me wanna hold on to my dreams.kudos to composer
Thanks for sharing this. I remembered watching this footage when I was a teenager (in the 1980's), takes me right back. It would sometimes be broadcast for about 3-5 mins at a time in between other programs, but the soundtrack that accompanied it was different, it had more of a symphonic sound to it and some choral piece. I'll just have to keep looking ...
Шикарное видео и музыка просто супер!
I keep coming back to this video, and I keep loving every minute of it. This is one of my favorite chill space-faring musical pieces!
Hey, your music is really good. This song sounds to me like a mix between awe and mystery. Keep it up!!
Wow!!! Great Video & Great Sound. One of The Best Video on the Web. This is a Great Achievement!!! What a Luck for us to meet your Great Music.
just think. When you finish listening to to this masterpiece, the Voyager1 have already traveled over 9000 km.
I just discovered it and am speechless,my soul travel with it.❤️🙋🇬🇷
Je ne m'en lasse pas.bravo!
I always come back to this video. I love it so much.
And now, as for poetic commentary on this compilation...
...this is everything that is right in the world. Everything that truly matters is right here, eventually coming to one's thoughts if they sit long enough and watch and listen. Thank you for doing the human race proud by putting it together.
Very nice music. Well done! Keep up the good work with audio production.
I hope voyager 1 and 2 make their way somewhere that will give us further knowledge about the outer parts of our solar system. Although it may be unlikely around the year 2025 when all operations must shut down due to the lack of power to keep any instrument running.
At only 420 watts of power, it is unbelievable at how much information was gathered from the two aerospace vehicles. I would say that these two vehicles is what made space exploration more popular and improved space research in many different ways. An incredible milestone indeed!
I've now created a "follow-up" video to this. While Voyager deals with the solar system and outer planets, the new piece deals with our own homeworld.
It's called Voyager - Earthrise:

Simply Beautiful. I want to fall asleep to this song. That is how relaxing it is. Great job.
Still love this video after 10 years.
Thanks for your kind words Sabrina. :)
great job and great success for both drones. Thanks from Italy.
Empezando el año con esta maravillosa musica!!!
I showed this to one of my friends and the first thing he said was: This is alien music and I'm addicted!
I loved the "plin" at the end
I always watch this after it finish i come back and watch it i dont know why but this video with the music it makes me come back and watch it
"The moon landing was CGI!"
CGI in the 70's:
Wow ... this gem is available for anyone that YT searches for "Voyager". I'm ashamed I've only found it just now!
Very excellent work, rfoshaug. Added to favs! Lovely music too ... I'd buy the album.
Absolutely great music and visuals!
You must be proud of this.
Sotiris (Synthscape)
I see every day and dont tired!
awesome sound, very nicely done video and music sync.
Thank you so much for keeping this type of music alive. I love all sorts of music, but the electronic genres are what resonate with me the most. Your Jarre and Vangelis influences can really be felt through the music.
Bringing you back to this video
@@greensodacan85 I still think about this song sometimes.
Fantastic Work. I love Astronomical and Spacecraft Themes since my 12 Birthday.
And my biggest Love is Very good Synthie Music Today. In your Clip its all united.
Very Awsome. :-)
Beautiful song.Thanks for share.
Love the music. Very fitting for the video.

Just discovered you listening to Jean Michel Jarre you now have another fan.
Thank you. :)
very dreamy philosophic background music, well made!
WoW i´m amazed with this tune!! keep em coming!! :D
Thanks for posting this vedeo and for the relaxing musing.
I think Nasa and your musik is verygood. Universium is very big and see over all star and planets. Exellent music. :)
Mycket bra Rune !
Det här är helt i min smak !
your music is superb and sounds like it was made exactly for this footage. greetings from budapest, hungary :)
Superb, really. Lifts up to the space
Thanx a lot.
Ten years after it was first uploaded ... this video makes me want to be a better person, overcome my petty human vices, and explore the cosmos in the spirit of the now near-mythical Voyager Grand Tour.
Hehe, thank you. :-)
Can't really agree with you on the overly critical clowns part though. Still holding at 5 stars at 45 ratings, and so many positive comments, the response to this video has been way better than I ever expected. Of course, this kind of music or video won't be for everyone, but I'm stunned by the amount of positive feedback I've received. :-)
Thank you for your very kind comment though and thanks for the 100 points. ;-)
Thanks for sharing this amazing video :)
