I have the 2017 gas version of this Smart and love the car. 70 mile range is just too small for me to consider the electric version. The battery technology will have to improve and at least double the range before I consider an electric version.
This model is still for sale in GB but there aren't many on the roads at all. They aren't popular at all as Daimler-Chrysler sold their share in the company to China and I think people are worried about parts availability etc.
Its a sad thing this car doesn't have a hybrid option. Electric limits it too much. No way I'm paying this much for a city-only vehicle, there are better options for that.
@@DonziGT230 “Nah, tampons aren’t for me, there’s better options for a stab wound” that’s what I hear when I hear that argument of range. Pick YOUR tool 😂 and they’re also optioned with 22Kw charger so it’s like 30 mins charge from home, how convenient. Get home from work, charge while you shower and change, eat and the car will be done before you are so you can go out with your fully charged car
@@discoverkenya In the US we only get a little over 7kw chargers, I think it's 7.3kw, so we'd have about a 3 hour charge time if we were going from 0-100%, which is rare.
The extra cost of not only the solar panel, but also the charger that has to make from a 30volt dc solar panel,400 volt ac to charge the battery’s. With a big car it makes sense but for the small ones not. Even if it would work you would gain like 5km range at best with a good sunny day.

I feel this vehicle would be perfect for me, i have a 10 minute commute to work. I feel the range would be more than enough each day.

I made it home at 6% was kind of nervous! 😮💨

@@em4703 If your daily commute is longer than that then it's obviously not for you, but for most people it's enough. I love mine.

Did you get a chance to test with AC on?
I can never understand why they can’t incorporate a solar panel into the roof, any energy is better than none surely, perhaps someone can explain?

They can, but it would be fairly pointless to add that cost to gain a couple of miles of charge per day.
They discontinued making them in the United States
BBBYpsi unfortunately
@@AvtoWow Do you happen to know the reason why they stopped?
BBBYpsi I suppose it was not enough demand
