A head coach that can be a leader of men is more important than a HC that is a play caller. I dont think this is a bad idea. Colin is fundamentally right.
Sorry but Ben Johnson would be a typical Bears hire and that is what is scary. You're hiring a UNPROVEN HC who just had some recent success for the first time. Ben Johnson is for the Bears a safe controllable choice and that is what has failed the Bears in recent years.
You could easily flip the argument about QBs in the 80's by saying if they got to play with the advantages of today's rules that favor offenses and QBs they easily could have greater stats. Could you imagine Marino, Montana, Elway, Moon, Fouts, etc. Being given the advantages of today's game that bubble wraps QBs and knee caps defenses? Their stats would be insane.
Why not hire Ron Rivera then if this is the logic we are following? He is interviewing for Jets HC- why not bring a Chicago Bear to coach? Let’s face it the Mckaskeys are going to fumble the ball anyway.
I just don’t understand the deification of Ben Johnson. He has no head coaching record. Everyone thought Buddy Ryan was going to be a great head coach too. I think PC can assemble the staff of his choosing and also attract cream of the crop free agents with his reputation as a player’s coach. I think that the current situation with the Bears organization and a rookie QB at risk of flaming out quick, requires playing the odds of success - and they’re much better with Carroll - and not taking an educated guess with Johnson.
One thing’s for sure whoever the Bears pick as their new HC there is going to be a clip of Colin saying they should pick him because at one time or another he has suggested the Bears should pick just about everyone.
One thing for sure is that taking advice from Nick Wright and Colin Cowherd is analogous to diagnosing cancer from WebMD. Especially Nick Wright. Remember he picked the bears to go to the Super Bowl this year. And every chance he gets he disses the Bills and Josh Allen
He'd be good for the defense. Like he said, build the run game and how a good oc for Caleb. Also, he said what I've been saying. We don't have all the pieces Detroit has, although not that far off offensivelybut Johnson doesn't have experience, and that's gonna maye starting with less than what he's used to.
Have you all seen Caleb, when he’s under pressure and not sacked but pressured he’s at his best so go ahead and pressure him.a player that is a rookie is a lot different than even a second or third year NFL but man I can’t wait to see what happens next year. I can’t wait. I’m just happy I don’t have to hire the coaching staff. But I wish them the best of luck. BearDown and let’s go Bears 🐻
It’s hilarious when Colin is making an argument for his personal relationships. The eagles are slow to start games “it’s because of coaching. That’s the first 15” The Rams are slow to start games and even one do the worst in the NFL “I can’t explain why they are so bad to start games”
It's hard to take all these reports seriously. People just make stuff up most of the time. I would rather see Chicago get a proven HC like Vrabel, Carroll, or Flores. Getting the coordinator from a good offense is a high risk move that rarely pays off.
Colin is weird AF. He doesn't want anything good for the bears and was trying so hard to sway Johnson and Vrabel AWAY from the bears and it's not working. Now he saying this 🤣
I don’t know any of these guys but dam I saw with my eyes what Ben j done there his play calling is pretty dang good and intelligent maybe the Bears need an intelligent offensive minded HC
Andy Reids wins with just the eagles had him top 30 on wins of all time. Obviously if he kept coaching with the eagles it would continue to rise. His playoff wins alone with Philly puts him in top 10 of all time, and his win % would be 8th all time. He was literally one of the greatest coaches of all time just with the eagles alone. Without a hall of fame QB. During his 14-year tenure with the Eagles, Reid compiled the best win total (120), winning percentage (609) and playoff victory total (10) in team history. 159] He captured six division titles and five trips to the NFC Championship game. During this period, no other franchise earned more divisional playoff round appearances (7) and only Bill Belichick's New England Patriots exceeded Philadelphia's (5) conference championship game appearances with (6) Reid sent 19 players to 44 Pro Bowl appearances, the highest total for any team in the NFL during that period. None of these players had ever appeared in a Pro Bowl before Reid was hired This isn't an opinion. His resume with the eagles alone was hall of fame. It's the literal general consensus. Not my personal opinion.
The only difference between scheme and culture guys is the culture guys schemes were successful to develop a culture where scheme guys schemes didn’t pan out so no culture was created.
Did this guy really say these young weak beta male quarterbacks could play easily in the 80s😂😂😂😂 Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a more clueless take on sports. Lol Caleb would get hit once in the 80s and be out for his entire career, with his painted nails..lol
Lamar would be injured if he played in the 80s. Game rules changed. DID NOT evolve. People were fast and athletic in the 80s take a look at Olympic times people are damn near the same
We would definitely not be smarter. We would not be able to function throughout the day. Very small pieces of information yes you will know because we seen the result. Just basic skills and even how people speak were much more advanced. There’s even civilizations from thousands of years ago that seem to have technology that we to this day haven’t figured out. People think the games evolve but it’s a marketing term to justify the rule changes and get what they want
Pete won at every level, And is great for a culture. I'm all for it Ben Johnson is a risk.
A head coach that can be a leader of men is more important than a HC that is a play caller. I dont think this is a bad idea. Colin is fundamentally right.
Example: Washington and Dan Quinn :)
Sorry but Ben Johnson would be a typical Bears hire and that is what is scary. You're hiring a UNPROVEN HC who just had some recent success for the first time. Ben Johnson is for the Bears a safe controllable choice and that is what has failed the Bears in recent years.
Weird saying this, but I agree with Collin 😅

Marino threw for over 5k in the mod 80s.
In today’s game he would destroy records!!!
People do not know just how good this guy was
@travisoshea Exactly!
Colin is absolutely right, and a world-class analyst, .this guy is a buffoon
Why not hire Ron Rivera then if this is the logic we are following? He is interviewing for Jets HC- why not bring a Chicago Bear to coach? Let’s face it the Mckaskeys are going to fumble the ball anyway.
I don’t know about that
@@jakieresykes3644about the mckaskeys? Ok bruh
Because he’s a Chicago Bear.
Nah if we’re going defensive coach I’d rather get the top defensive candidate Vrabel.
If 49ers think so little of Kyle Shanahan we should definitely trade for him.
I just don’t understand the deification of Ben Johnson. He has no head coaching record. Everyone thought Buddy Ryan was going to be a great head coach too. Always a great Show You are always on point Love how you Break it down When C heard..Speaks Thank you ..
thats what he said ,ben johnson has a stacked team and most coaches could win with that team.
Thanks Julian, Happy New Year
Happy new year!
One thing’s for sure whoever the Bears pick as their new HC there is going to be a clip of Colin saying they should pick him because at one time or another he has suggested the Bears should pick just about everyone.
There is also footage of him trashing every candidate.
I agree with Colin Adam Gaise was supposed to be this boy wonder because his play calling in Denver went to the jets and was not good at all
One thing for sure is that taking advice from Nick Wright and Colin Cowherd is analogous to diagnosing cancer from WebMD. Especially Nick Wright. Remember he picked the bears to go to the Super Bowl this year. And every chance he gets he disses the Bills and Josh Allen
I know the Santa costume is basically a meme at this point but being able to hype up your team like Andy Reid at his age is respect
He'd be good for the defense. Like he said, build the run game and how a good oc for Caleb. Also, he said what I've been saying. U lost this one John, I agree with Colin.
So Colin only has a good point when he agrees with you
Carroll will hire the best Offensive staff for Bears. The Vets need proven expertise on all 3 sides. Not rookie HC
What's his problem with Ben, it's so boring to watch push for his friend Vrabel over and over smh.
I heard this same garbage when they went with John Fox. Please no. Time for a young coach to lead this team for decades.
It’s hilarious when Colin is making an argument for his personal relationships.
The eagles are slow to start games “it’s because of coaching. That’s the first 15”
The Rams are slow to start games and even one do the worst in the NFL “I can’t explain why they are so bad to start games”
Oh, He’ll No! Let him sleep.

He has no head coaching experience and he's barely played football in his life. Playing calling is not the most important job of a coach.
Andy Reid, Never won a SB until Pat! He was a good coach not great.
Andy Reids wins with just the eagles had him top 30 on wins of all time. Obviously if he kept coaching with the eagles it would continue to rise.

Some people will say anything. The coach never did anything is until such a such player, is a silly childish argument
The only difference between scheme and culture guys is the culture guys schemes were successful to develop a culture where scheme guys schemes didn’t pan out so no culture was created.
25 year’s ago oh my god
Sam Darnold?
🤦♂️
Cowherd is just pulling things out of his ass for content. Such a stupid take. Must be hungover from NYE
It's not a stupid take, just because you don't agree. Hiring an Inexperienced non football player to coach the team such a bears move.
Did this guy really say these young weak beta male quarterbacks could play easily in the 80s😂😂😂😂
