People who thibk tracing is cheating are just bitter. Even if you trace it wont make your drawing look nice. Shading is a very important skill. The Only thing tracing helps is save TIME

Jeremnis Bubu I only trace for projects that contain drawing from a story.
I only trace for fun
I believe tracing is a way of forming muscle memory. I used to trace a lot and now have gotten my hands to learn different techniques to the point I rarely trace anymore.
Great point! It is forming muscle memory I had never thought of that
I just trace because I admit - I am not an artist, I just want to make a cool gift or pretty thing for myself.
For example I traced some simple but beautiful lineart onto wood and burned it in as a gift for my sister. (i did the tracing by printing the designs, putting chalk on the back of the paper and then running all the lines with a pencil)
And for myself I want to put figure skating silhouettes on the guards of my ice skates (i am not entirely sure how i will do it since the chalk method won't work for the plastic)
I like the "pencil all over the back " method! thanks
It’s great when you have limited resources! I can’t believe it works!
Nice video! Some of these are pretty hard to do on larger papers though, so building your own lightbox can be a nice hack. Just take a somewhat clear box and place your phone‘s flashlight under it, works perfectly for me :)
I'm so happy finally I got a method to trace without the tracing paper 🤩🤩🤩
just used the pencil all over the back method to transfer text font onto a collage...brilliant! thank you :)
Thanks for sharing. The pencil all over the back method is a nice alternative if you don't have graphite paper to use. Since you are essentially making homemade graphite paper.
Wow people, need video for beginners. you once were beginners yourselves. My problem was the volume kept going up and down. Other than that it was wonderful.
I have an idea for tracing, and that is to use a video projector connected to a computer. The image is projected on a wall, but with your paper taped to the wall. You then can adjust the projected image size. With this method, you can trace multiple shapes from images, onto a single sheet if you want. Like making a multiple exposure tracing on a sheet.
Method 4 was exactly what I needed!!! Thank you!!!!
Glad it helped!
Love the pencil on back method too! And that you finished the video illustrating the use of (graphite) tracing paper.
You live in a Beautiful place :')

I think all of these methods are great. Just what I was looking for!
you saved a procrastinating art student. love you
have a nice day1
The fourth method was SO helpfull! Thank you so much for these tips! I love you for these 😭💗💗💗
I like it - this is my way of thinking. I've never owned a light box but I bodge up my own Heath Robinson effort when required. I've used a glass top coffee table with a bedside lamp underneath, I've used my laptop screen with a white browser page or blank Office document displayed. For bigger things I connect my laptop to an old flat screen TV and either use the same white screen trick or trace direct from images viewed on screen - great for copying photos of a subject you've taken.
I use the transfer paper method. It works best for me. Great video!
good video, but, turn the music down and turn your voice up. otherwise great job :P
Thank you, I am glad to know it is not just me that found the up & down music irritating and rather pointless. 👍🌹
A couple of other methods: I have a small artograph projector purchased a few years ago. This is good for enlarging. I have also used the ancient Celtic method -- poke holes along the lines of your original image. Put some powdered graphite (or pencil shavings) into a small piece of cloth and tie it up, and use the cloth to pounce graphite through the holes. Essentially a stencil. Lift up the original, and connect the dots on your art paper.
If you use the rubbing or pouncing methods, you may want to spray a workable fixative on it before you lay down paint. I've found that graphite will smudge and blend in with my paints, making everything grey.
The window trick is an actuall life saver
Excellent, even the masters had/ have ways to transfer images.
TYSM I had to create this final draft for a school project onto cardstock but I couldn’t get it to look good. That drawing pencil lead on the back is so useful!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much!
thank you for this my teacher showed me the graphite transfer paper method but didn't tell me what she was doing. so thank you for clarifying.
wow i never knew u could trace of cumputer or labtop screen i figure that u messup the screen thanks for showing me something i never knew love the video 5 stars (Y)
sspd077 pro tip dont use duct tape use masking tape and masking tape only

Thank you very much. I’ve been having a crazy hard time trying to transfer images.
Your welcome! I’m working in a new tracing video that is a little clearer
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I too would like to enlarge a photo but I guess I can take what I have and have it enlarged at Staples then transfer. Thanks again
Thanks so much sharing! Super helpful!
Thank you

so lovely. And another way i used when i was 8 was that i did the brightness o. hundred level and then trace it from mobile, now i am 12 and now i can draw very nice without tracing😋😋😋😋

Could u please explain tracing with mobile phone method
thank you for the methods!
it was a reallly big help
4th one seem to be the best for me. thank you so much :)
If youre using a computer screen, turn off all the surrounding lights so that the only light coming through is from your computer screen. You'll get way more details this way.
method 4 is really useful. Thank
Really loved the techniques💕💕
Wow, the window method is so good and so cool. How did I not know about it before??!?!
Thank you! I use it all the time;)
+Mr. Otter Art Studio i learned that method as a child. My mom would be driving taking her of her own business while i would draw in the back seat of the car i was tracing sonic the hedgehog and i put it up to the window and bam what do you know its the same as using the tv instead i didnt have to stop during dark scenes.. used that method ever since lol
Cool. Perfect transfer just achieved.
Thank you so much this really helped me 😀😀👍
Nice method to trans image. Technique make drawing so easy today.
The great masters of old had these, and several other clever techniques in their tool kit. They even used a primitive pinhole camera method to properly capture someone's likeness. It's funny to me that in modern times when someone who is not an artist looks at these tools and thinks it somehow takes away from the hard earned result. Perhaps it is like a peak behind the curtain, seeing the magician's trick, and it feels less magical now.
Just a funny observation, from another creative soul. 😎
Thank you so much for this video .It will really help me !!!!!!
Thank you I really needed this!
This was awesome thanks!
Number 4 was so helpful
I might try the graphite paper method. Thank you for this compilation! :)

@@patriciaazevedo7165 there are many ways, however the easiest is "stamp", filter gallery> sketch> stamp. Brightness & contrast need to be adjusted before this applying this effect to achieve desired results. Good luck.

YOU SAVED MY LIFE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I thought I came up with the first idea. Great minds think alike, though, so yay.
Helpful! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. I love the suggestions. I going to paint a picture soon!
Thanku mam it realy helps me very much
Have a good day
Thanks! You too:)
To be honest I can't blame the comment. Even if ther is proof with the base sketch there arr ways to transfer art onto paper, like coloring the back side of the printed image you want with led and tracing over the image onto a different piece of paper. Am I saying this is traced? No, I am saying many people out there do transfer art in that way. Its so common that i have to do it in ky art class instead of free handing a drawing.
Ahah Great tips!!
Greetings from NM
Thank you this was really helpful!!
Im glad you can use it, I need to remake it in higher quality, but till I do this one works:)
Pretty cool video! I was not aware of some the methods. Pretty smart! Great job on this video!
rubbing pencil was nice 😁😁😁
It works!
Wow! I want to live with your view!
The pencil over the back method worked well for me. Thank you! :D
You're welcome!
best videos this is very helpful thank u soo much
Tape saves the day👍 WOOH!
Thank you! Great suggestions.
Good idea! I am also using a photo to art app for simply line drawings and then using an app. for my ipad to direct it onto my paper..hoping that works easy too.
thanks a lot for the computer and window one idea
super thank you for the graphite paper idea i like drawing on cheap paper because i literally throw away atleast 3 pages on every drawing i make because i mess up alot so now that i have good bristol paper i didnt wanna throw those away like i do the cheap paper.. thanks cuz i would of never thought of it
you are welcome:)
Me : Takes a paper in front of my computer and copies.
My lil brother : You were never a Artist!!!!
Me again : Well i'm not the only one
Thank you so much!!!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks A Lot
You are most welcome
thank you, very helpful
Was helpful, thanks!
thankyou for the help! :)
Missing kids but bootifull art
how can you trace a picture using mobile & not tracing paper??
mobile phone? you can send the image to a computer and use the screen, or print it then use any of these techniques
So u go to settings and press accessability and turn on guided access and then u save the picture u want to camera roll and then go to the photo and press the Home button 3 times make and it will tell u to make password and in the corner it says some thing about touch I forgot what it says but you turn it Off and then yah done (it only works on apple)
Nice method id suggest to use a soft pitt graphite crayon for the fourth method as this give a fast and more even
spread of graphite 👍
Great Tip Laney C:)
Way to go!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH ♥️♥️
Ingenious!!
Could you tell me what the the filter you used in photoshop to turn the original Image to the one you are using for illustration!?
me:needs to trace smth through card but I cant
me when I see this vid and remember I have one of those tablet stuff that light up:👁️👄👁️😃-
I used to use method 4 in art at school , used to make people think I was good at art 😂
OMG SAMEE
Your awesome!!!
Quick question. How do you not scratch your monitor using the "paper on monitor" technique?
Great question, I cannot guarantee it won't scratch your monster, but it never scratched mine. The paper protected it
Monster?
+Chibi Kawaii Kitty Hehe, I saw that to :3
Trash Meow
cx XDDD
And most people use it to transfer there already drawn art onto another piece
Hi please can you advise me on what to do.
I like you method 6. But how can I get the imprints a little deeper so as to allow me better accuracy. I sometimes film myself from a birds eye view and don't want the imprint visible to the naked eye. Thus making it seem that I am drawing free hand. (I just do small cartoon stuff) thank you!
your paper, if you use thicker paper the imprint will be deeper
I'm trying to get a shape onto my grad cap. It's hard because of the button in the middle. Help! How can I do this?
Which effect is that? Is it only from photoshop?
Good now I don’t have to redraw the exact same image
Thanks ❤️
So does the graphite paper work on Bristol paper??
Thank you ;)
Thanks
Can you do number 4 to transfer a picture onto fabric? I drew some pictures on parchment paper and I’m having trouble finding a good way to transfer the images onto the jacket I chose to put the images on 😓
Sorry this is so late, how detailed is the image you are trying to transfer onto fabric and what kind and color of frabric
@@MrOtterArtStudio it’s okay! It’s white cotton and it’s basic detail at most because I can just add the details when I paint it on the fabric
there used to be a game that you put a plastic window that wen you see thru it reflects the image in the image, any one knows whats the name of that?
The first method is exactly what I do however you need a computer and I don't have one anymore :/ ;-;
So I tried it on my tablet and didn't go so well
I had random zooming in and out problems
For me I just have my simple iPad and the guided access feature, it allows me to just turn off my touch screen and just trace, although I have to darken my room for it to look better.
As for drawing tablets, I couldn’t help you there sadly.
Im sorry you don't have your computer anymore, good luck!!!
How do you edit the pictures like that? I used to do those types of drawings but my art teacher would be the one editing it. Is there an app or something I can do on my iPhone ?
I use photoshop and change the threshhold, however there is a free photoshop I used when i was a teacher called GIMP and you can do the same thing there:)
I bet there are apps that do it as well...Fx stencil is one I just saw
What's the best paper to use?
About the technique where you cover the back of the image with pencil then trace it. Do you have to apply a lot of pressure when you trace it? (heavy hand)
Definitely not as hard as you can but don't go too soft
information good. but music why turn up the volume on it?
Muito bom!
When I was little I used to put a paper on the TV and start tracing
