Great song with so many great memories from the 70's, These brothers helped me get through the tough times. Thank you my brothers for the fond memories and good times of my high school and teenage years!!!!
When I hear this song, I always think of that scene from the miniseries: “Paul still wasn't well enough to come back, and David's words had hit their mark. Eddie Kendricks quit The Temptations.”
Reminds me of riding the school bus.. I hid this kind of music from the others cause it sounded nothing like what the cool kids was was listing to 🤭😍 this was in the year 1969 I think... I have this song on a CD
David's not here. David had already left the group at this point. Dennis Edwards had replaced him as the lead at the time of this song. In the picture from left to right it's Paul, Dennis, Melvin (Blue), Eddie and Otis. This was one of the last songs with Paul in the group. He was forced to leave because of his health problems and his drinking. And Paul and Eddie were best friends. They had known each other since childhood and sang in choir together. They were basically brothers. So Eddie was furious with them forcing Paul out of the group. It's what drove Eddie to eventually quit. One night Eddie just walked off stage midway through a show and never came back.
