I love Green Day, I really don't care what people think of them nor what genre of music they make and play- they are amazing, that's why I love them, they constantly say that for people that "know" punk, they really don't know and they make music to get us to listen and think about common sense in that kind of term. They don't classify anything, let alone the genre of music- if anything, they invented and improved the music of punk, rock, alternative, etc. They rock! :)

I went to a small private christian school when I was 12. We had to turn our phones in in the mornings. Well one morning I was running late and forgot to turn off the ringer when I handed it in....I was 12 when I discovered Green Day and fell in love with their music. So I set this song as my friend's ringtone...I'll never forget the panic I felt when the ringer went off in the middle of class. I immediately started talking really loud so no one could hear the lyrics...I have no idea if it worked😂

Can everyone stop arguing over whether or not Green Day is or isn't Punk. Simply Green Day are, their songs are not, they have such a unique sound that, lets say you turn on the radio and they're on you would instantly be able to distinguish it's them. Their songs are their own genre "Green Day Genre", no one can get into the "Green Day Genre" except for Green Day. But one thing is for sure the "Green Day Genre" is fucking awesome!

There is no such thing as "The green day genre", every band sounds like themselves, but that doesn't mean that all bands have their genre of music, every band falls under one or more genres. Green day falls under the pop/emo punk rock genre. The argument many people have against green day is that they aren't punk anymore, even though this is kinda true. Green day is still punk but they just sing about love and such things instead of the usual punk rock themes.
FINALLY no one at my school i used to go to they were punk and i always asked y does it matter their music is good but then they scoff and laugh at me beacuse i am weird and listen to odd music so no one takes me as a real person... Yay me

I've been a Green Day fan for around 5 years now and I would say that even though their sound changes constantly it's wonderful. A lot of people dislike the trilogy which is ok but I enjoy them a lot :). Also I love reading the comments because on a lot of alternative bands the comments are just about how attractive the musician is or things that have nothing to do with the music which is alright but I like that in Green Day comment sections a lot of it is just about the music or stories about how their parents got mad at playing Green Day too loud XD. It's rad. Green Day's fanbase is my favorite because the majority are nice and rad people :) so anyone reading this I hope you have a good time and enjoy the music!!!

People don't think Green Day is Punk because they are also pop, but you got to remember, Ramones and Buzzcocks had some of the most poppiest songs. Nearly 2 hours ago I was wearing my red Green Day shirt and dancing to this song and I randomly threw my hand in the air and due to my height I put my hand through the fan and ended up slicing my thumb open. 20 minutes later I was in ED, still gushing blood and laughing my head off because only 3 days earlier I was at Soundwave watching Green Day perform live and despite the mass crowds I had pushed through, I get hurt in the hotel room haha. On the other hand, Green Day is beyond amazing live ^^

My favorite thing about this song is that right after it ends on the album, Kill the DJ starts which is complete 180 in terms of sound and style. My theory is always that this was on purpose to tell people screaming for "another Dookie" to shut the fuck up.
