Doug Stanhope is an example of someone who never gave it up, and you can see why someone like Shane wouldn't want to go that route. There are exceptions to this, arguably louis ck's last few specials have been as edgy as ever. But a guy like Shane isn't somehow obligated to run that gauntlet instead of simply going mainstream and creating generational wealth.
I have a friend who loves this show and bought the gay sauce pack, had a whole little day with his family doing a hot ones enactment, made me question my long standing friendship with him.
