Hey Luke, You first led me to Sling TV, back when streaming was the "big new thing", and I've never looked elsewhere since...not to mention the thousands, upon thousands of dollars I've saved over the cable. I'll stay with Sling for as long as they'll have me! Many thanks for providing us with such a great service!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I had Sling, but the lack of local channels here in the Baltimore market convinced me to switch back to UA-cam TV. I could only pick up 1 of my local stations in my apartment building with an antenna and I tried 6 different antennas.
@@jjc4577Well that depends on your viewing preferences. I currently subscribe to Sling TV. I chose the combined Blue and Orange plan with the Sports Add on and one where I can watch the Game Show Network. It costs me $75/month without local channels. Whereas UA-cam TV costs $72.99/month with my local channels.
I am in the minority on this, but I really don't like UA-cam TV. Many reasons: high price, missing channels I want, bad UI. I have no interest in sports or my local channels. I use Sling Blue, and also have UA-cam premium service. This works just fine for me.
Importantly, if you use an antenna and an AirTV device, your locals show up on the SlingTV grid just like other channels and can be accessed with the same controller (in my case, Roku).
I have Sling TV's own Air TV tuner (like Tablo TV or HD Homerun) to pull in my local TV channels from a antenna and all my local channels get integrated into Sling TV’s guide with all the other channels, it’s nice feature that I can get it on all my devices, even when I’m not at home, I have watched my locals on Sling TV 200 miles away from home, only for a few minutes out of curiosity, I also get 200 hours of DVR for recording off the antenna
Sling is 30 a month cheaper then UA-cam tv I had UA-cam tv first but they just kept jacking up the price Sling works great and I have 0 problems I don’t get local channels but there are apps for some of that I’m not paying an extra 30 a month just to have local channels I also don’t watch every sling channel so I wish they would offer a consumer package where you pick and choose What you want and don’t want These cable cutting services are starting to become as expensive as cable itself I swear I will dump it all if they don’t stop jacking up the prices every few months You are literally paying for content you never watch.
Lmbo!😂😂😂 Definitely keep the BLOOPERS LUKE. I love it and it brings you closer to the audience. Cracks me up when you are scrambling for that remote.🤭😂
Suggestion for Luke: 😊 It would be helpful if you had a clip of the pricing and any other main points you would like to make when you are talking. That could help you focus more and be a little more organized. Philip, who previously did the channel while you were gone, offered that, and it was helpful for me. I watch Michael Save channels, and he is pretty good at that as well. Plus, some prefer visual instead of jumping over and reading each link or both like myself at times. However, if I'm on the go the videos and important information that is visible right then helps so I can move on but still learn. I think it could help you get your thoughts together more and organize a little better.😊💖 It's up to you though. Thank you for doing the videos. It's part of my routine now.
I have sling blue and enjoy it a lot. I use their DVR capability to record many things and their on demand is great. I have a simple antenna for my local stations as well as many other stations. No cost there but the initial cost for the antenna.
I do better using an antenna, fast channel apps, specific channel apps (for Christian channels) and Philo. The only thing missing is sports, but it isn't NFL season so for the next few months this setup is good.
Had SlingTV for years, loved it when it was just the basic lineup but then it was jam packed with bloat channels. Also set up for the local channels with the Air TV, seems like it fixes the problem however it was very unstable and the cluster of wires everywhere and antenna seemed as overwhelming as the bloat channel addition in the guide. UA-cam TV is seamless and much more of an alternative to cable for me with a very comprehensive dvr system.
Wasn't the initial draw of streaming services supposed to be that they were cheaper than cable? A starting price of $70 doesn't seem to be much of a savings.
UA-cam TV is $72.99, no DVR fee, No Locals feel, no sports fee.. 72.99 out the door. A comparable package from a satellite or cable provider is easily $30 to $40 a month more. Plus many have long term commitments.
Ok one thing that REALLY sucks about sling is it will actually force you to watch commercials on live tv... let me explain... You know how most of us will flip to another channel when commercials come on to watch something else for a second to avoid commercials? Some channels on Sling will still make you watch those commercials when you go back to that channel because you can't "control media" when ads are being played or something like that so you cant skip to live... haven't had it in a while so i don't remember their exact verbage but yeah that was the deal breaker for me for sling.. and the DVR sucks
with UA-cam TV when you record you're stuck with the entire series as opposed to just one show episode, is there a way to mark a specific show in the series as the one you want to go back to?
Thanks for the comparison on that they're looking for a different service besides Hulu which always has issues with recording I don't know why compared to other apps the other apps seen work better on my TV as a disappointment for me and my family.
I have both because no locals available. Sling Blue with the $21 bundle add-ons. Both $133 It's still cheaper than cable here, the base cable package after add-on fees $165 and missing channels Sling carries like Reelz with the popular OPL, NewsMax, Cowboy, Cowgirl. If YTTV carried Reelz and NewsMax would drop Sling. I do like the fact you can keep recordings on Sling forever, however, so maybe not. YTTV has the best UI and everything is true Dolby Surround if that's a biggie. Most AVR's do a good job simulating surround, however.
I picked UA-cam TV for the picture quality. Sling is okay for watching the news, but I watched a US men's soccer game on TBS a while back, and it has significantly less detail in the picture than the UA-cam TV recording of the same game. I didn't buy this expensive OLED TV to watch a subpar picture like that.
Sling is only $45 if it includes ABC and that is on the blue package. Otherwise, depending on your market Sling blue is $40 and includes either Fox or NBC.
Been many years since I used sling, but at the time it wasn’t friendly to us logging in both at home and the cabin 30 miles away as we travel back and forth. Hulu live didn’t work either. YTTV got our business solely for this.
I have Direct TV Streaming. I can record weekly shows usually on cable everytime they are on. For instance FBI, Chicago PD. These are weekly local stations TV shows I want to show up on the recorder every day they are to be viewed on a regular basis. I.E., Cable shows: Fox News, Fox Business, Hallmark, MSNBC, Newsmax, C SPAN, CNN, & movies off Guides of channels, & locals ABC, CBS, NBC,. As stated, on live TV and cable, there are numerous channels I watch each day and the Direct recorder pops up to remind me that it is coming up. Basically I want Direct with DVR at a lower price. What can do that?
Something you didn't cover and I can't seem to find anywhere is video quality. I see UA-cam had limited 4k offerings. I assume UA-cam is 1080 at 30 unless it is available in 4k 30. I have Sling and I believe it is 1080 at 30 FPS but I can't for the life of me find the specs of either service anywhere. I have had Sling for well over 4 years now and I really like it. The only channel I wish it had was FXX. Other than that it has everything I want . I have a Tablo for my locals so I don't need them through a streaming service.
sling tv, is a good too after NFL season. I don't care about locals and it's great to not paying for them when i don't won't too. I live in area in south-eastern ky. signal isn't the best
I had Sling TV and UA-cam TV and the video quality of the Sling TV was not great in my opinion as it was either highly compressed or the refresh rate was really low, sports were not watchable, and I ended up being more frustrated with their video quality than the UA-cam TV. I got to the point where I wasted money and couldn't even wait for the month to end and had the free trial of UA-cam TV and then subscribed. If they would fix the video quality I would switch back as they had everything I needed and I had my antenna setup perfectly setup.
UA-cam TV frustrated me because they wouldn't tell me what channels they carry. They just say "hundreds." Sling gave me complete listings to make it easier to choose between their orange and blue packages. I'm delighted with my subscription to Sling Blue. I'm not that interested in sports and really mostly watch news. I did add their $5 "Entertainment" package to get Turner Classic Movies and half a dozen more movie channels. Besides news, I'm all about movies. There are more channels here than I ever want. I do get my local channels over the air even though I do live rural and sometimes the signals are weak. Several of the independent stations show Grit, Comet, or other TV "package" services that are also provided by Sling, so if they're not coming in clearly, I just switch back to Sling. With AppleTV+, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ I have well more than I need as far as streaming services are concerned. But I spend most of my time on Sling. UA-cam TV just costs too much.
You mentioned you have TCM, and as that is one of the channels I miss by no longer having my directv satellite account, I have 2 questions for you: 1. Does their logo get displayed during actual content - I can live with it if it's a host giving us a 10-minute intro, but if they're showing, for example, Casablanca, I never want to see a logo on the screen during the movie (I recall that when I had the channel their logo came on every so often for maybe 5 seconds; annoying but tolerable). 2. Do they interrupt the movie to show any sort of ads? Again, back (like in 2009) when I had it, there were no ads. Thank you. Sure, for me, to spend $45 if all I'm gonna do is watch TCM, it might be better to sign up directly with them (of course not until I know the answers to my questions).
I’m not in an area where an antenna will work, the only reason I would want a live TV service is for sports, specifically NASCAR. So I would never consider Sling because it doesn’t have FOX or NBC in my market. I have Peacock for the NBC but Peacock doesn’t show the USA Network portion of the races. So how am I currently watching NASCAR on Fox, FS1 and USA? A family member has given me the login info from their cable provider to watch it on the Fox Sport App and NBC Sports App. If these companies would make it available outside of having to have a live TV package I would pay for it. When the new live sports app comes out about 3/4 of the nascar schedule will be available to me to pay for and I will do so.
I can’t get Comcast. Where I live the only internet service I can get is Frontier Communications DSL or satellite internet. I have Frontier because it’s 1/2 the price of satellite and has no data limits.

My problem is the cost of watching TV, especially when I come from the generation of always having TV for free. Let's face it, out of all of those channels that they have in the packages, how many do you really watch? Then if you consider the time away from home because you have a job, how many hours are you actually able to watch TV? I think TV should be charged by the amount of time you watch and not by a fixed monthly cost, like electricity, we get charged by how much we use. TV is such a scam nowadays because they impose a monthly charge to us the customers, and then getting paid by the commercials we are "forced" to watch. That is just not right and nobody seems to think there is nothing we can do about it, when all we have to do is quit paying for it and get an antenna, and I'll bet you they will do something about the cost in a hurry. But that will never happen because most people are just sheep anyway, and have no problem with helping the rich get richer.

Agree! Sling is absolute garbage! That's the reason it's 1/2 the cost of UA-cam TV. 😮
no they dont cry hader
pretty sickening that he continues to promote FOX. AKA Faux
Fox News should be removed from every streaming platform , i will never subscribe to an app that has anything to do with Fox News
Just curious as to why you feel that way? I rarely watch FOX News channel but do watch my local FOX31 here n Denver & love it!
@@AngelinDenver118 Too many lies to many lawsuits for lying, and they are not even a news agency , they call themselves news entertainment , you can not trust anything any of their people say , they need to be removed from everywhere that is looking for real news , I want news that is not owned by a corporation , we need to eliminate corporate control of the news and go back to real news , paid for by the public not billionaires , News media should be controlled by we the people , not them the billionaires with an agenda , i liked the news from Walter Cronkite that's when we had the real news , News you could actually trust was the truth
