I've been watching them build the stadium and I'm so excited to get to go. I didn't get to go to this game because it was crazy expensive on secondary market. But I'll be going later. It's amazing! The whole atmosphere where it's set up looks awesome!
Austin FC fan here. Was at game last week and just watched this week 2 highlight reel. SLCSC has been very fortunate this far with opposing team giveaways. Not withstanding, there are some real quality players on the SLCSC squad and the GM appears to be a good evaluator of talent. The team is big and physical…I was on the second row and it really popped out. Looks like alot of quality in key positions. It’s early but you might really have a nice squad. Congrats on 2-0 start…that’s amazing.

I like watcching Premier League soccer on TV here in St. Louis because of the enthusiam of the fans and and announcers as I am more of an American football fan than soccer. The new stadium seats 22,500 with 19,000 set up for season ticket holders of which they had requests for 63,000 season ticket holders. Many thanks to the owners of Enterprise Car Rental located here for building the great stadium as they will be rewarded for doing so. St. Louis has had a soccer presence here for a long time from some Italian immigration but really caught on with many years of Catholic Youth League soccer going back to the 1950s. I did not grow up Catholic and went to a Public school not a parochial school and we only would played soccer about 2 weeks a year during our gym class. Now St. Louis also has the largest Bosnian immigration in the country from people who came here after the Yugoslavian war and they also like soccer the best. I am happy though for the many soccer fans here and this is a big positive for St. Louis.

Now with my wife being Catholic, all three of my kids (1 boy / 2 girls) enjoyed playing soccer in the Catholic Youth Leagues. It's always fun watching your own kids play any sport so that is what got me in to soccer some. I have watched global tournaments some like Olympics and World Cup and there is something about the Premier League on TV I do like watching some. I actually more enjoyed watching indoor soccer with past STL teams more of a soccer cross with hockey. This time it looks like the soccer interest will stick in STL years later.

I really want the MLS to succeed. I am a dual citizen of the UK and U.S., and grew up in England. I would love to see the game grow and get better here. The crowds are already awesome in the MLS - the dirty little secret of the Premier League is that, bar a few select clubs, the atmospheres are often pretty dire owing to the amount of corporate and tourist tickets, with diehards often priced out now. But the MLS has really wonderful crowds. That all being said, those crowds deserve a better product on the field. I can't watch any MLS game or highlights without some absolutely horrendous defending on display. No positional sense, no shape, absolute schoolboy errors again and again. The product needs to improve a lot. I am not sure that will happen until the U.S. moves away from the pay-to-play model and open up the game better. The best U.S. players still have to go abroad (often Germany) to properly develop, and this should not be the case.

As someone who vividly remembers watching D.C. United and the San Jose Clash play the first ever MLS match in 1996 it's so awesome to see an atmosphere like this today and see how much the league has grown. Love seeing new cities embrace their new clubs like this.
