It was a beautiful day walking inside Marine Park Brooklyn. All of a sudden the alert goes off, the skies grew dark, the wind kicked up and bam! So much snow I couldn't see a thing! Freezing cold too. Thirty minutes later the sun was peaking out behind the cloudy sky.😎
Snow squalls are very strange. I experienced one in early April of 2017 in Downtown Chicago; went from sunny and 56 degrees to cloudy with dropping temps toaround the low 30's with a sudden blizzard out of nowhere - in the span of only 20 minutes or so😮 The skyscrapers did a good job of funneling the wind making for some crazy conditions. Tourists who went out wearing shorts and sunglasses expecting a nice spring day ran for shelter. It went on and off like that for most of the day between sun and sudden snow flurries... one of the most bizzare weather events I've experienced so far.
It lasted about 20 minutes, I was in a store on Church Ave by the Q train when I got the alert, me and this guy said- "uhh- ok, but where??" About 15 minutes later when I was checking out it started snowing very little, and when I left the store there was a crazy blast of wind and snow, but the snow wasn't very heavy, only the wind was bad. Then about 15- 20 minutes later it slowed down and stopped.
We had the exact same alert and weather in upstate NY - only at 1100 a.m. - it must have moved on in your direction. Thank you for sharing, love your videos and live streams!
Awesome. Snow squalls are pretty much rare here. I remember the last one we had was like a couple years ago. Snow squalls are like a line of thunderstorms but in winter without thunder and sudden heavy snow. Is like a 5 minutes blizzard.
@@johnrogers9481 Exactly. You are right. Thats what I meant. It was my writting that was not clear. I meant "snow squalls are like a line of thunderstorms in summer, but the only difference is that it occurs in winter and without thunder, and has a sudden heavy snow, like a 5 minute blizzard".
Believe it or not, lightning is known to occur during intense snow squalls. In our area in Western NY, when it hit, there were around 10 total in the region. Yes, not a lot by any means compared to your traditional thunderstorm, but regardless, it had lightning. I look at snow squalls like winter's version of severe thunderstorms.
So glad you captured this footage. Alot of the shop keepers were trying to pack up their goods and I don't blame them.the wind sure was narly thanks AK great work.
we got the same weather warning before 9 am for NW PA and when the snow squall started it sounded like giant trucks coming up the valley and it snowed so hard you couldnt see the barn 70 feet away, that lasted a about 2 hrs here...it was a total white out, never saw anything like it in all my years and im 66..
OMG I got the same alert around 1:30 pm today and suddenly wind and snow kicked up like a blizzard , so glad you captured it on video , it’s exactly what NJ had 😶🌫️
I’m in Pennsylvania. We received the squall a little after noon. We were given a heads up the night before, but it was originally forecasted to arrive early morning. 🤷♀️
That really didn’t looked that bad , i’ve seen much worst weather than this ! But as always the sudden weather change can caught by a surprise 🙂🤔!! Nice premiere , thank you A K for sharing 👍❄️!!!
I live in New York City too and I would have to unfortunately agree. I was hoping for much worse like the last one we had back in 2019 but it lost a quite bit of its punch when it moved into the City. Lol I think that's why it was so aggressively filmed by many in NY including myself. We thought it was going to be like last time. Sucks though that it wasn't but still was fun to be out in esp for me. My first one I fmed ever. Hoping for more before the season is over. And Great footage Actionkid ❤
When it hit our area in Western NY, it was absolutely brutal. I couldn't even see the house across our street at times and the wind was howling. It was definitely on the higher end of snow squall strength, and what's even weirder is that it wasn't warned until it reached a little west of the Finger Lakes. It was blinding in our area. I have a radar loop in the video I took and it was surrounded by lighter snow showers which might've tricked people into not warning it until those snow showers around the main squall fizzled out and only the potent snow squall was visible on radar.
Planing to visit NYC on 24 FEB 2023 with family for 5 days with a 7 year old child.. But this vedio scared me, should I re schedule ? our plan is to enjoy the city vibe, explore city by big buss, center park and every evening spend some time in time squre, is it worth to take a 15hr flight and come to NYC during rhe last week of FEB? any suggestion plz ?
I'm based in Wisconsin and we got the same warning last night around 8 PM local time. It was the same squall front. Very rare, but that's how far it travelled. Same thing happened for my brother in Buffalo.
I was visiting Hunters Point waterside when it came through. It was freakish! The winds were so strong it was kicking up dirt and debris while snowing hard! I could hardly walk or see. By the time I finally got to the subway (Vernon-Blvd-Jackson Ave)...it was over.
While not in an area of New York, these high wind driven squalls are crazy, on Saturday I drove from Toronto to Southern Mississauga (18km/11.18 miles) west of the city where a snow streamer or squall had crossed the expressway and dumped enough snow in a very narrow band on the roadway to slow westbound traffic to a crawl. They generally only last a few minutes. At least your snow melted, Toronto's snow has stayed this winter, Monday and Tuesday will be much milder, thankfully. I never complain about high heat and humidity. Squalls don't follow schedules!
Wow!! Insane weather change indeed! 🍃 ❄️ That reminds me of the Squall that came my way back on January 29th where I am on Stockbridge, GA 🥶❄️ Very sudden weather change... Thanks for recording this AK!
Thank you for the tour of Brooklyn. The snow squall didn’t seem so bad. In some of your recent videos, you’ve gone out in some pretty tough conditions. Like the Saturday snow in Astoria. I enjoy your videos. Especially the lively Saturday night in the east village and the Chinese New Year celebrations in Chinatown. You seem like a very good person. Thank you again.
That excitement was short lived but lucky you could keep walking along. So sad all the homes have to have bars on all the windows and more where you’re walking.
Where I live a Snow Squall happens quite often. Back in 2005 we had Snow Squall that lasted for 45 minutes and dumped 2 inches of snow. That was the biggest Snow Squall recorded here.
That's really insane weather sundenly drop, without weather forcast announcement, but Great to share this wonder walking tour video capture, New friend in here, keep safe &taks care
Here in Connecticut where I'm living we got a pretty bad a couple hours it was like a white out condition we got like two two and a half inches of snow from it on the ground
I’m missing something. It was a bit cloudy with light snow at the start but then it cleared up. I watched all the way through but didn’t see anything notable. What did I miss?
It was 40-something degrees, and then all of a sudden, clouds form and snow is falling and blowing around like crazy. And then just as fast as it came, it stops and the sun comes back out. Sudden weather changes like that is not typical in NYC.
The morning weather report predicted a snow squall at lunchtime. In Central NJ there was a light brief sprinkle at 1pm and a much heavier one shortly before it hit you in Brooklyn.
This is unusual for NYC isn't it? I live up North in NY state and when you guys get really bad snow storms our plows go help to clean up the city, and our drivers go too of course. So, think of us when you get this bad weather. Maybe send our plow guys a good hot pizza and some warm oil for the plows :)
What happened is you let the alert on your phone get you worried about the weather and then you got out into the weather and realize it's not that bad it's all good just enjoy it while you can
Lol, snow is pretty natural stuff. It's not even a snowstorm. I've seen you walk through a lot bigger storm. Ah well..... Here in the Netherlands we get that more, clear blue sky and lots of sun, amd within a minute either lots of rain and wind or lots of snow. This is nothing weird....
That was wild! Thanks for capturing that incredible weather!
It went from clear skies to windy, blowing snow in a matter of minutes
Yes, snowed in Manhattan too. It was so bad❄️❄️❄️ you couldn’t see then it just stopped!!
Yup it was wild
That must have been something! My subway was underground and it was magically gusting snow when we emerged outside, perplexed everyone!
We had this mess here in Detroit area on Wednesday and Thursday. Big pile up on freeways. School clothed on Friday as we got 8 inches of snow.
Snow squalls are very strange. In Sweden we call this snowkanon and it’s really wierd weather! It falls/blowes often very local! Thank’s for filming this fenomenen! TC!🖐
Was watching live and got this notification!
I was outside when this happened in queens and the wind was the real kicker. 40 mph winds in some places
It was really gusting!
We had the exact same alert and weather in upstate NY - only at 1100 a.m. - it must have moved on in your direction. Thank you for sharing, love your videos and live streams!
Shout-out to you for continuing to vlog!
Thanks!
It looked pretty crazy in CT too and great video AK!

It was pretty freaky to experience.
3rd planet...like thunderstorms but in winter without thunder and sudden heavy snow.
BUT, this one WAS WITH heavy snow.

It was scary and I would do the same if I had goods out in the open exposed to the wind!
we got the same weather warning before 9 am for NW PA and when the snow squall started it sounded like giant trucks coming up the valley and it snowed so hard you couldnt see the barn 70 feet away, that lasted a about 2 hrs here...it was a total white out, never saw anything like it in all my years and im 66..
Thank you for this impromptu premiere and for capturing/sharing this snow squall, AK!! It's strange how the weather changed so quickly. ❄
An impromptu premiere just like the sudden snow squall that caught everyone by surprise
We had several squalls come through Boston earlier. I never got any alerts. I feel snubbed.😭😭
I wonder why you didn't get alerted
It definitely was a sudden, intense weather event. Good on you for capturing it.
OMG I got the same alert around 1:30 pm today and suddenly wind and snow kicked up like a blizzard , so glad you captured it on video , it’s exactly what NJ had 😶🌫️
It came out of nowhere here in Philly around 3:45PM wind was crazy around 45MPH lasted 10 minutes
Wow, I can't believe it affected Philly too!
Lol 😂
Calm down AK it was just a little wind 🌬
U guys are lucky you didn't get the worst of it. Here in the Hudson valley (at least in my area) we got like an inch of snow in 15 minutes.
I’m in Pennsylvania. We received the squall a little after noon. We were given a heads up the night before, but it was originally forecasted to arrive early morning. 🤷♀️
I Love New York city🇮🇳🇮🇳🇺🇲🇺🇲❤❤🌹🥰
Great Video. Thanks for sharing. 😀👍
That really didn’t looked that bad , i’ve seen much worst weather than this ! But as always the sudden weather change can caught by a surprise 🙂🤔!! Nice premiere , thank you A K for sharing 👍❄️!!!
yeah wasn't as bad like most would seem to appear of snow falling of some kind.
There was a snow squall a few years ago that was much worse than what I recorded here. The sudden weather change really caught everyone off guard!

Yep we had it in northern NJ. Got two alerts. One for 3:15 and then again for 3:45. Such a clear day and then it got so dark in a matter of minutes.
I'm based in Wisconsin and we got the same warning last night around 8 PM local time. It was the same squall front. Very rare, but that's how far it travelled. Same thing happened for my brother in Buffalo.
Thank you for bringing us all together in a happy surprising way!!🌬
You're welcome!
Yeah it was weird alright. I was jogging crossing the Williamsburg bridge to Brooklyn when it happened. Was definitely not prepared for it.
The winds must have really been violent up there. Hope you made it ok.
Walking street tour wonderful and beautiful city so cool snow thank you for sharing
Hello AK,we had snow squall pass through Dutchess County,NY about same time!! Take care 👍👍
We had something similar here the other day... 5 minutes of intense hail and gale-force winds. Luckily I was indoors!
I was visiting Hunters Point waterside when it came through. It was freakish! The winds were so strong it was kicking up dirt and debris while snowing hard! I could hardly walk or see. By the time I finally got to the subway (Vernon-Blvd-Jackson Ave)...it was over.

Sure, AK has been out in the biggest snow storms. This event is not that it comparatively wasn't so 'bad' but that it happened at all!
we had the same weather today starting at 3.17 today be careful
walking
You live in the northeast, you make it sound like you never saw a snow squall before!
Wow never seen anything like this.
Stay safe. Thank for sharing with us.
That excitement was short lived but lucky you could keep walking along. So sad all the homes have to have bars on all the windows and more where you’re walking.
Beautiful city walk and I like the falling snow... Greetings from Bali
Thank you for this....
Good morning Ken. Thank you for sharing this video.
It wasn’t that bad! Here in Connecticut the snow squall brought insane snowfall rates and wind, the visibility was only 150 feet.
l am in Newport jersey city yesterday and snow squall is very strong too!
Thank you Action Kid.
OMG snow..... in Winter , what an insane weather event
Here In Staten Island we got hit with the Snow Squall for about 20 minutes. I was home so it was enjoyable to watch from within my warm house👍🥰
That's interesting. I've never heard of that a snow squall.
I'm in the UK. The wind blew part of the 02 arena off and it's not over yet.
Thanks AK for video.
In Throgs Neck in The Bronx, this "squall" was just a brief flurry that I wouldn't have noticed without that annoying alarm.
The storm is bad here in uk we got bins flying in the sky, cars tipped over, and the list goes on. Stay safe out there.
It briefly snowed here in the New Haven area too. But melted as soon as it hit the ground.
Where I live a Snow Squall happens quite often. Back in 2005 we had Snow Squall that lasted for 45 minutes and dumped 2 inches of snow. That was the biggest Snow Squall recorded here.
Wow, that's a long storm squall you had!

Streets are dirty kk
I enjoyed watching always 🥰🥰🥰🚶🚶🚶
That's really insane weather sundenly drop, without weather forcast announcement, but Great to share this wonder walking tour video capture, New friend in here, keep safe &taks care
Oh hey that's 8 ave! I hate walking here during mid-day, so many people in the way ...
Thats fun. Cold but fun. The day light does not do the squall justice.
Dude. I run that area lots of time. Thanks for sharing.
Seriously that was ridiculous. I'm in Jersey but it snowed in like 5 minute intervals it felt like.
Here in Connecticut where I'm living we got a pretty bad a couple hours it was like a white out condition we got like two two and a half inches of snow from it on the ground
Here in the Bronx, it wasn't much of a snow squall that the NWS has warned us about. Just a little snow and that's it.
Astoria queens between Broadway and 39th Ave also experienced this weather on Saturday 19th Feb 202w
2022
I’m missing something. It was a bit cloudy with light snow at the start but then it cleared up. I watched all the way through but didn’t see anything notable. What did I miss?

I received the same alert.
LOL 😁🥶🤣Its something like a sudden hail storm - but in winter, it'll be flakes and not ice pellets.
I love you - my New -York!
I'm in Queens, it was strange!
The morning weather report predicted a snow squall at lunchtime. In Central NJ there was a light brief sprinkle at 1pm and a much heavier one shortly before it hit you in Brooklyn.
Sounds like a double hitter, it must have came from the west and made its way east.
Chilly Willy!
LOL 😁🥶🤣

AK keeps saying WIND !!!!!
Love
yeah we get these from time to time, its worse when youre driving on the highway and this happens , really reduces visibility.
Holy Molly ! What's the heck ?
What happened is you let the alert on your phone get you worried about the weather and then you got out into the weather and realize it's not that bad it's all good just enjoy it while you can
I live in Princeton NJ and I was affected
Lol, snow is pretty natural stuff. It's not even a snowstorm. I've seen you walk through a lot bigger storm. Ah well.....
Here in the Netherlands we get that more, clear blue sky and lots of sun, amd within a minute either lots of rain and wind or lots of snow. This is nothing weird....
So absolutely nothing happened!?
Imma make a video of how in Kansas it goes from 60 degrees to snowing 8 inches the next
I'm still looking for the snow squall.
Kinda wild !
Hey AK! What's up ?
Sometimes you can hear thunder right in the middle of it....its wierd
Ah the pleasures of living in the East Coast 😅🤣
compare to blizzards 3/4foot snow? wud not like to live there but c, est la vie no friendly either
I was supposed to get this storm yesterday thank goodness I didnt

Hi Ak
❤
Stay away from the islands , ocean a freezing can travil fast over water
Typical winter day in Eastern Europe :)
Hi !!!
Must be the shortest walk you did having recorded on the very day (19th).
Yep, the snow squall came and went!
Thailand, It had been raining since January. really the rainy season starts in June, maybe effect of Global warming! healthy and stay safe AK! 👍🙂
Hi nyc dudes
It lasted about an hour (here in Far Rockaway), but there wasn’t any accumulation at all
We can blame climate change! :(
I see a lot of people not dressed for a sudden snow storm.....
What? i can still see?
