Yh that’s true, also if you think about it, bertholdt sacrificed his life for Reiner too. When he was thrown in the barrel to nuke the city, chances are that he would’ve killed all of the survey corps, managed to succeed in capturing eren, and ultimately survive. However, he saw that Reiner would be vulnerable to his nuke and prioritised his safety first, which led to him dying in the end.

Marcel threw his fellow warrior candidate Reiner under the bus to protect his younger brother Porco from having to risk his life on the battlefield just to die 13 years later.

About the "memories" that faded in when Eren went into the Paths with Zeke:
In the manga, Isayama had included an Easter Egg at the very top left of the panel. You've probably heard of "Attack on Titan: Junior High", in which he put his characters in a different scenario. But there are also "Attack on School Castes". The three pictures (Reiner in the sauna, Mikasa as a goth and Armin with glasses) that might confuse you are from this. Personally, I don't think it's good that this Easter Egg was animated with, because only manga readers got something from "Attack on School Castes". The anime onlies will only be confused by this.

From my understanding, the vow was still there.
I like to think of the entire Titan race as one entity with Ymir as its brain. The problem is Ymir is a slave in mind and soul to someone with royal blood. The Founding Titan acts as a key to Paths to control Ymir.
Karl Fritz ordered Ymir to not let anyone use Founder's powers for war, something akin to law. He then passed his memories and ideologies to subsequent inheritors. The influence would make them want to keep the law in place. Zeke was free of this since he didn't have the FT. However, he still had to convince Ymir to cancel the vow made by the king.
Even if Eren had arrived in normal condition, Ymir would not have listened to him. They would be stuck for however long it took Zeke to make Ymir renounce the vow.

She is a slave to "love", that's one of the themes of AOT, Eren just used his opportunity to convince her to give him the founding titan power, but she was still a slave to the royal blood.
I have theory. Even thought Zeke posses the Founding Titan, he will not being affected by the vow. Because his royal bloodline is not originally from inside the wall where the king vowed for the first time.
I'm so glad you noticed that Eren said "wait" ✋ when Zeke was about to scream. Actually at that exact moment Eren showed for 1 sec that he cares about his people, about Pixis, Neil, and every eldians in Shiganshina. He didn't said "wait" for Falco. But this "Wait" also confirmed to Zeke what he was suspecting since the moment Eren didn't catch the ball to seal their deal: His little brother was planing to betray him.

Watching other people’s reactions is like… watching events through Floch’s point of view. Not even Eren’s, f*ing Floch’s pov. Not all, but most are so narrow-minded and it’s so refreshing seeing that you girls care about Gabi, Falco, Nile(Military Police commander), Pieck(not because she’s cute, like most people), Galliard and even Colt. I agree it’s pretty infuriating since Floch and his motley crew are literally depicted as ethnonationalists. It’s like the POV of a Nazi if they were the ones who were oppressed first. LM is the best they actually engage with the story further than surface level like 95% of viewers in general and can understand nobody is right but many are understandable yet at the same time dead wrong in what they do and believe. It’s all shades of grey ofc but some shades are darker than others. I think I just expect too much of people when it comes to media, most turn their brains off when consuming it rather than opening their mind and analysing like what you’re supposed to do with a masterpiece as complex as AOT.
Fr I always stop watching aot reactions if they have the ultra biased Floch type POV in their head, not that it’s necessarily a bad thing but it’s so annoying and half of them don’t even try to understand the story
But you can't hate Flochs point of view, like him or not he's one of the best written characters and i find his actions much more believable than alliance. Him joining scouts so he could help free world of titans, then going through worst of war right away. It gave him mentality kill or be killed and fact they need a devil to survive. He has every right to hate outside world as much as he do, still he is aware what he's doing isn't good but he sticks to his beliefs for his people. Unfortunately, Floch’s ideology falls under ultra-nationalism. Basically fascism. And while you can somehow understand how Floch himself got those ideas… the viewers should know better… The viewers REALLY should know better. But they dont, because they dont analyze what they see. Lots of those reactions seem devoid of empathy AND logic, it’s just people blankly staring at the screen and then gasping during a critical moment. These girls do analyze the story and empathize with characters(even vastly hated ones), that’s why i appreciate them.

Actually, if you think with nuance, they weren't happy that people were turning into titans, they were hyped that he was screaming because it looked epic and makes good entertainment. As someone who read the manga the part where Eren got shot was the last panel of the chapter and the next chapter didn't come out for a month. The wait for what came next was awful.

Galliard was able to see his brother memories because Reiner was touching Eren when he touched him. Also his brother was the Jaw so he has Marcel and Ymir memories.

As an anime only, I was speechless the whole episode. I really didn't expect these at all. And I really feel bad to those who turned into titans especially my boy Falco and his brother Colt who died. Colt loved his brother so much 😭💔

Honestly I think the episode should have ended when Reiner was thinking about undoing his armor so Falco could eat him. Imagine the suspense.
The reveal of the "happy" ending for both of them came way too soon, it takes the sting out of Falco's transformation, or Reiner's possible suicide. It's like when Armin was given the serum, nobody cared that he briefly turned into a mindless Titan, it was a good thing even. Same's true for Falco, we (or Gabi) didn't have to live in agony of having lost him.
Now I'm hoping that even worse shit will happen that makes this look like a birthday party. Gods how AoT has corrupted me.

lol Yes, that was a sauna. It's a joke and some Easter-egg fan service for manga fans. MAPPA had a little fun with the Paths and it's not a spoiler to inform you that those are 100% not plot relevant. The sauna is based off AoT mock/joke cover where all the boys are in a sauna together. So, for the manga fans, they get a glimpse of anime Reiner & Levi in the sauna. That particular joke cover possibly also picked as a nod to Isayama's desire to one day own a sauna. You also see Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin, which is based off a fake high school manga parody that Isayama also drew and added for fun to monthly chapters of AoT. It was a bit of levity from MAPPA in an otherwise heavy episode.

In the manga it's more clear when Zeke says "get him, Falco" because it's added "Kill Reiner" and there's a view of a very sad Zeke face inside his titan. So it is better undelined that Zeke is not just doing it to attack Reiner but in order to make Reiner's wish come true ( Reiner wanted Falco to inherit the armored). And of course also because Zeke cares about Falco.
Wait.. but then why did Falco stop going for Reiner and went for Porco instead? If he was commanded by Zeke to go for Reiner? Makes no sense.
@@crossmodulation9730 I think that Zeke just stopped paying attention to his titans in order to survive the second blast from Magath (idk if that makes sense, but changing his mental focus on faking his death may have compromised his control over his titans), and in doing so lost the control he had over Falco. That is why Falco lost focus and went after Porco.

It works both ways, but unfortunately Ymir only listens to Fritzs with Royal Blood, but King Fritz (The one from the Great Titan War a hundred years ago) made the Vow Renouncing War and so anyone of Royal Blood who inherits (Not use, Inherits) the Founding Titan get bound by the vow renouncing war. So them touching only serves to allow them entry to the Paths, but Ymir only listens to the one with the Royal Blood (Until of course she listens to Eren, because it's not a law to listen only to Royal Bloodes people; it waa her will all along).
Colt and Zeke used to play catch together when they had downtime in Marley. They shared some precious time together. Although, Zeke appeared mysterious to him in some ways, Colt trusted him as Zeke had chosen him as his successor (Marley must have allowed Zeke to pick the successor as he had some "magic" in his blood according to Marley).
That's why Colt decided to talk to Zeke to let him know that Falco drank the spinal fluid. There were 60 m tall walls around them, they couldn't escape his screaming radius even if they ran in the opposite direction but somewhere in his heart, he wanted to trust Zeke that he would stop if he knew Colt's little brother drank the wine.
Colt asked Gabi to bring a horse by the time he convinces Zeke so that Gabi and Falco could escape together. Even in Liberio, Colt was the only one trying to protect the little warriors.
Zofia had died beside him and Udo died in his arms and he was helpless, he couldn't save both of them. All this time, Falco had disappeared. Then he saw Falco and Gabi board the enemy's ship, he tried to grab Falco before he escaped but fell short. Colt was left all alone and helpless again.
Zeke's scream reverberated through his core and he could sense the same felling building in him again - feeling of helplessness.
This time he was not letting go of Falco. His older brother will protect him. A last desperate attempt at saving his little brother - his family. Even if it was the last thing he would do, Colt hugged Falco tightly as long as the Grice brothers were still alive.
It had hurt a lot, being rejected, being left behind. Porco wondered "Why was I not chosen ? I aced all the tasks assigned to me and I was better than him in everything." But this pain was nowhere closer than the fact that his brother had sacrificed himself for Reiner. For Reiner, the one who was the "good for nothing". Marcel was a gifted leader, Porco's older brother was more of an asset than Reiner. This question was drilling a hole in Porco all this time. When he inherited Ymir's titan, Porco looked through her memories to search for the answer. But he couldn't find anything.
Still he followed in his brother's footsteps and become a powerful weapon of Marley. He hated Reiner but protected him multiple times because they were comrades now, embarking on missions with the same goal. Porco tried forgetting the past failure and moving forward. His job now was to follow his brother and become a warrior just like him. All Porco wanted was to prove himself, that he was worthy of becoming a warrior - more specifically the armored one.
When Reiner touched him and the memory of Marcel triggered, Porco was finally able to see his brother again - he looked so young. In that instant, he saw his brother crying and apologizing. Marcel was sorry he deceived Reiner. He protected Porco. Finally Porco realized, he was not rejected but saved, that he was worthy. But Marcel wanted atleast him to live a long life. Marcel really loved his young brother.
Then Marcel protected Reiner. That's what a young, innocent but honourable child burdened with guilt would do. Porco knew that his brother was a true warrior - He saved the Armored titan.
It was time to follow Marcel completely. He should protect his comrades just like his brother.
Porco saw he could save both Falco and Reiner.
It was time to join him.
Marcel's brother , Pieck's other family and the Jaw Titan was always a true warrior.

in paths, 1 million years can pass by and it still be a second in the real world. you could feel all the years pass by but at the same time only a blink of an eye. time doesnt virtually exist in paths
It is amazing because "God" is free of time and space as it is creation.
That's kind of obvious in my opinion, and well done by the studio. The split second that Eren and Zeke touched, we get that trippy animation that leads us into the Paths, and Zeke explains it even with "years have passed, but also just a moment".
In my most honest and humble opinion, next episode is gonna be the best episode of the show, so excited to experience it (both for you and for me)

Most of the people who watched Attack on Titan a few months or years ago have no feeling about the music that played when the soldiers turned into titan in this episode. We who watched Attack on Titan many years ago have missed this music since the first season.
I saw the serie the last year and that song and the scene was like coming back to season one. All these events are like the season one but in a more terrible way, because this is the end and looks in the same way that the beginning.
I never thought I would connect with any of the Marleyans at the beginning of last season, but Falco is one of my favorites in the whole series. He’s so kind, open minded and pure. I just really love that kid, so seeing him and his loving brother Colt embrace and try to comfort his little brother at his end, truly broke me. Such a beautiful character. This is one of the greatest anime ever. I’m just grateful to be watching it with all of you guys.

An easter egg in the trippy blinking scene as they transition into the paths. Right before that part ends we see Goth Mikasa and Nerd Armin from the Attack on Titan Highschool Au. Also the sauna part you saw is another easter egg to one of the covers where all the guys are in a sauna together.
I laugh so hard with the sauna part 😂
Personally, I don't think it's good that this Easter Egg was animated with, because only manga readers got something from "Attack on School Castes". The anime onlies will only be confused by this. And it drags this serious and important scene into ridiculousness.

I’d prefer if it wasn’t included but also I’m glad most anime-onlies will miss it anyways so eh. I do know most people in Japan read manga more than they watch anime, so that could be why it was included, since most people there have already read the manga (from what I understand). I definitely agree that it makes the scene feel a bit less serious though.

It could represent some snapshots of an alternate reality where they're normal kids and titans don't exist, like they showed in Evangelion where Shinji and Asuka were in school in some parallel world. You never know if the anime ending will be different from the manga.
@@Robert_H. Goth Mikasa and nerd Armin were in an actual memory shard in the manga. Most people don't notice it cuz it was a very small shard, but it was there. So it wasn't outta nowhere.
Neither Eren nor Zeke wanted to use the scream, it was thought as a last resort, and at that point, they had no other option
Zeke honestly didn't gaf about most of the people there, but Eren still cares for his people and it shows his ideology is different from Zeke's.

We know by now that because Zeke's purpose is to euthanise Eldians, Eldian deaths and titan transformations are fodder to him, because he is "saving" them from life. Killing them isn't too different from preventing their birth. But ofc the last thing Eren wants is to see more Eldians become titans, regardless of if he knows them really well or not. He wants to save his friends, but he still hates titans. He's changed so much in temperament and appearance, but he's still the same Eren.

@@thelegacyofgaming2928 tbh as a manga reader, considering the pacing, it was probably a good thing that they didn't rush it, although I agree that it would have been hilarious seeing the reactions to it. This part seems to be okay pacing-wise up to 131, then the rumoured movie for the ending.
Either way, I am excited about the next week's reaction. If they went crazy over this past one, imagine next week...

Can I just commend you guys for your understanding and observation skills? This was such a heavy episode plotwise especially with Paths but you girls managed to catch the gist of it. I know it is quite confusing but just know you girls are doing amazing
Personally I didn't think it was that hard to understand (anime only). Nobody answer, but my prediction for what happens next are:
a) Eren can regenerate his body because Founding Titan or whatever (lame)
b) Eren is dead, but we get to see him doing stuff in the Paths for a while longer, maybe even talk to Armin or other Ttians (tragic but awesome, unlikely though) Just imagine him saying farewell to Mikasa via Armin or someone else, how hard that would suck for both.
c) sort of like b), Eren's human body is dead, but he can take control of a Titan in the real word and do stuff.
d) Eren takes over Zekes' body / lives in it until he can do one of the above.
As to how Eren will overcome Zeke (which I think will very likely happen), perhaps this is the Attack Titan's specialty: it can't be mind-controlled by a Royal, because it's the Titan fighting for Freedom. That might put them in a pat situation in the paths.
Also I really hope Eren tries to free Ymir. It seems she's a slave to the Royal Family, and Eren / the Attack Titan should care about freeing her, possibly giving us a different chance to solve the Titan problem.

As a manga reader I was shocked and crying during the whole episode. Mappa has been doing an insane and phenomenal work with this season. Also the voice actors are amazing on this. Reiner's desperation brought tears to my eyes like crazy.

This episode is probably one of the best episodes in any show ever made. I mean there is literally nothing to complain about, everything was perfect. I read the manga but this episode still had me sitting at the tip of my chair the entire episode. Incredible work from Mappa. You all just watched the start of probably one of the best if not the best arc in television history. The next episodes will be even better then this one and that's hard to believe but trust me it will

When Falco is about to eat Reiner, in the manga he looks at Gabi and thinks: "Gabi, Falco is the only thing I can return to you... He will be the one to inherit the armored Titan."

There is one more thing about Zeke's scream that most people don't realize. Zeke was truly in pain knowing that he would be the one to turn Falco, but there was no other way to save his own brother. Eren was in danger. Fighting against Reiner and Galliard, with Pieck pointing a cannon into his head. Zeke was planning to use the scream only as a trump-card. He didn't wanted this to happen.
We talked about Connie, but Zeke's life is a mess too
He had to turn against his parents, eat the man he once called father, turn against his allies and now we know that he also was prepared to turn against Eren even loving him deeply. I really feel sorry for him. That burden is way too heavy.
Colt choose to die instead of witness Falco becoming a titan, so in Zeke's shoes, he would definitely turn Eren into a titan to save his own brother.
There's no a single soul happy in this show.

Primer comentario que veo en español en este canal!!. Me dio mucha pena Colt en ese momento,realmente se me aguaron los ojos. Creo que en este punto es imposible tener empatía solo por los Eldianos de Paradise.
Creo que todos teníamos en mente que Falco se iba a convertir en algún momento en Titan, pero en mi mente, era como un punto de inflexión para el desarrollo del personaje de Gabi, jamás paso por mi mente lo de Galliard, y pobre Coltsito, todos los que somos hermanos mayores, sabemos el lazo especial que nos une con los menores. Ni que hablar del resto del capituloooooo, creo que era lo que más esperaba desde que bajaron al sótano, que expliquen cómo Ymir obtuvo sus poderes, y que es lo que realmente tiene planeado Eren.

When so much insanity happens within only the first half of the episode! That music when everyone turned into titans was chilling, gave me Vikings vibes. The fact that we haven't even gotten to the predicted Rumbling, makes it even more insane to where we are right now. Falco is the new Jaws. RIP Pyxis. Galliard dies the same way Marcel dies, saving Reiner from being eaten by a titan, while being in possession of the Jaws titan.
I feel like Eren revealed three times that he wasn't on board with the plan. First when he didn't catch the ball, because no matter how much he lies, his body will show that he physically cannot agree to the form of a handshake. When he cried after Sasha died, and had to cover it up with laughter, because Zeke was watching. And when he tried to tell Zeke to wait on screaming, because he didn't want Falco to die. Showing that he does hold certain life above others, while Zeke believes killing Eldians is a just cause for a better future.
I feel like Eren's "death" (?) was also foreshadowed this episode, when Margath said "we don't need your head, just your spinal fluid"
