  • MOROCCO COMPARED WITH SAUDI ARABIA
    Welcome to another comparison video between African countries and Asian countries. In this video, we compare these two great countries. Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
    - As we explore these two countries, we look at their population first: Morocco's population is estimated to be 38.2 while Saudi Arabia has an estimated population of 36.4. This makes Morocco a little larger in terms of population.
    - Now when it comes to life expectancy, the average life expectancy of Men in Morocco is 71.7 years and 74.3 years for women. This brings us to the average of 73 years.
    The average life expectancy of Saudi Arabian men is 79.53 years and for women, 76.67 years. This brings us to the average of 78.1 years. This shows that with the difference of about 5 years, Saudi Arabia has a slightly better life expectancy rate.
    - Moving over to land mass, Morocco has a land size of 446,550 km2. On the other hand Saudi Arabia has a land mass of 2,217,949 km2. This means that Saudi Arabia’s land mass is about 5 times bigger than that of Morocco.
    - Religion wise, Morocco has Islam as its dominant religion, having 99% of its population as Sunni Muslims and 0.1% as Shia Muslims.
    On the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s official religion is Islam, and has the Quran and Sunna as its constitution. The legal system of Saudi Arabia is based largely on Sharia.
    - When it comes to Language, Morocco has Arabic and Amazigh as its official languages, but virtually all Moroccans speak French.
    The official dialect of Saudi Arabia is Arabic, with 3 major variants which are; Najdi Arabic, spoken by about 14.6 million people. Hejazi Arabic and West Arabian Arabic, spoken by about 10.3 million people.
    - Morocco's currency is called the Moroccan Dirham (MAD), while the Saudi Riyal (SAR) is the currency of Saudi Arabia. Speaking of which currency is more powerful, The Saudi Riyal is 3 times stronger than the Moroccan Dirham.
    - When it comes to GDP, Morocco has a nominal GDP of $147.343 billion with a per capita income of $3,979. Saudi Arabia on the other hand has a nominal GDP of $1.106 trillion with a per capita income of $33,040. This makes Saudi Arabia’s GDP over 7 times greater than Morocco's GDP.
    - Looking at their military strength, with 0.0000 considered perfect, Morocco is 61st on the world military ranking with a power index of 1.0081 and an annual military budget of $5.
    The Saudi Arabia’s military on the other hand, has the 23th best military in the world, with an annual budget of $75.8 billion and a power index of 0.3235.
    - Looking at the Natural resources of both countries, Morocco's natural resources includes barite, clays, cobalt, copper, fluorspar, iron ore, lead, salt, silver, talc, zinc and phosphate which Morocco holds 75% of its reserves in the world and ranked 3rd in the world in its production.
    Saudi Arabia on the other hand, is the largest producer of petroleum in the world, having 1:5th of the world’s reserve. Saudi Arabia has other natural resources such as gas, iron ore, gold and copper.
    - Both Countries have a very good tourism sector. Tourism in Morocco is well developed, maintaining a strong tourist industry focused on the country’s coast, culture, and history. Since 2013, Morocco has had the highest number of visitors in Africa.
    Saudi Arabia is the second biggest tourist destination in the Middle East with over 16 million visiting in 2023. Although most tourism in Saudi Arabia still largely involves religious pilgrimages, there is growth in the leisure tourism sector.
    - Morocco has invested massively in infrastructure and has lunched many major projects that have had major impact on the economy over time. This country has one of the best transport infrastructures in Africa.
    Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure on the other hand, has grown to be one of the largest in the world, having the largest road network in the Middle East. The countries transport system improved dramatically since 1949. Saudi Arabia now has a comprehensive transportation network of airports, trains, highways, subways and ports.
    - When it comes to government, Morocco is a unitary semi-constitutional monarchy with and elected parliament. The executive branch is led by the King of Morocco and the Prime Minister.
    Saudi Arabia on the other hand is an absolute monarchy. According to the Basic Law of Saudi Arabia, the country’s de facto constitution adopted by the royal decree in 1992, the king must comply with Sharia and Quran. The Quran and Sunna are declared to be the country’s constitution.
