😂😂😂 Love your reaction 10:06 😂😂😂 shit happens better to laugh and to bee angry and cry . thanks for keeping that in made my day. love to see you work and handle the situation when they come up 👍🏻👍🏻💜
My first car was a VW bug 1961. That car was fun to drive. One of these days I’d like to have another one. It was fun watching you work on that more fun or should we drive it. Brings back old memories.
Yep! I’m visualizing you getting that brake line bent into shape! I’m also hearing the grunting and the new language be used in a constructive way!!!! LV the videos😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Brings back memories of when I lived in Germany during the 80s and 90s. No matter how much snow we got, my Beetle always got me to and from work. Not warmly, but it got there.
Good memories. If someone can't get out with a VW bug, you can't get out. I didn't realize the new dog was from the pound. In my opinion, the best way if someone wants a dog for the family. The stained-glass turtle will be adorable. Impressed!
Watching your videos reminds me of my dad. Knowing something about everything and loving VWs. And now I see you so stained glass! Reminds me of my childhood. 💕
Another fine job on an old bug. You said you were going to hit it with 2 in 1 rust converter. I had a very bad experience using that stuff, after one year the acid in that stuff began leaching through the paint. I did let it dry good for One week. I'll Never never use that product on my vehicles. Just made a ton more work on my frames I restored. Just a word of caution.
Hey Darin, just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your channel. I send a lot of time on youtube and about 90% of that is on your stuff. Great DIY information, a great learning experience. Thanks for all your hard work.
Congratulation for saving dog life!!! Nice vídeo again ... I like a lot ! You and Tonella in Brazil, make our better morning with yours vídeos... Nice job !
My first VW was a 1952 ? split window while I was in based in Germany. Cable operated brakes and no heat, still it was a great car and when the engine died, I only had to go to the base auto shop to get another off the junk pile, I got to where I could do a engine swap in under 45 minutes. I've had four more since then and all were great cars. I miss the beetle!
That's a great car. My navy buddy had one.way back in the late 70's. We went everywhere down south in that bug. That is a reliable vehicle. Nice work Mr. Mustie!!!
A suggestion, when you moved the rug out of the way, there was some surface rust, you couldsome black paint or some sticky insulation to replace that original insulation, plus it would serve as a sound deadner, regarding the fastback,I believe you can take the body of the chassis, give it a proper restoration,, that would also serve as a vlog or video since you don*t see many fastbacks anymore.
I had a beetle when i was 18 :o) That plastic behind the door-cardboard must be 100% or water will leak in. One of many places for waterleaks, but i guess you know. Enjoying your videos! Keep up the good work.
Well that's a nice switch from will it run. Truthfully whether it's making it run, stop, fly and everything between, it's always good hanging out in the garage. Thanks, Mustie!!!
Very enjoyable, had a short shifter in my 70, but when I shortened the chassis and made a Dune Buggy with a real Meyers Manx body, that bushing and I became close friends. A real pita to change. Gotta take the tunnel cover off as I recall.but it’s been over 40 years.
i have been watching your beetle vids, good stuff, getting old stuff running sure can be fun, I have my eye on an old bug that's been sitting outside for a few years, not sure what left that's good, its free if I want it and comes with papers, I also hear stories of an old split window van sitting up in the mountains, I hear you could throw a cat through it anywhere, but now after watching your vids I better go check that out to, thanks for your effort.
Mustie you know so much about beetles and busses that you should make videos for what to look out when buying one, the basic rust spots etc. It would help people that want to buy one but dont yet know about the mechanics and tricks of them
Love all the VW stuff, waiting for the double cab to get back in the shop and the fastback... But come on Stain Glass? Show more of that, let's see what you got! Quit hiding these talents.
Smashing job mustie :-D That old brake line lasted really well :-D. Nicely preserved floor panel now, it should last out the rest of the car. Ahh its always nice to see a dog rescued, and that one looks loverly :-D.
Great video Bro!! You might want to change the master cylinder while you’re at it, I pulled mine and couldn’t believe how much crud and build up that was in the ports for the lines. I changed everything front to back, even the brass T-unions. What kind of seats are in that bug, they look really pimp!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!😎
I've been working on a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and Shadow, but I really enjoy your videos. I worked on the brakes this week on the Cloud. You provide tremendous inspiration and confidence when I work on my cars! BTW, my father bought a 61 Beetle in Germany and had it shipped to NC...wish I still had it!
You make fantastic videos and you have a fantastic personality for the camera. Really love this bug in particular - my dad owned a 68 when he was roughly my age. I would love to have one myself some day
Mustie1 and everyone. Remember they are now selling Flex seal by the gallon. White and black color. I just did a Concrete pool's concrete hot with the stuff over the winter here in Arizona. Stuff is working amazing. Should say the concrete had very small surface pits from years of wear. No major cracks . Would be perfect for a car floor interior re coat. Found it went on better using 2" rubber trowel than a paint brush. But brush for any hard to reach areas. Also completely pre wash with Alcohol. Seemed to make the product stick in place. One more thing. bought mine at the local Ace in the paint department.
As a VW fan and owner at different times of four vans and a bug, I have to say that I am always totally engrossed by your videos. I drove the bug from Fresno to Panama and left it in the parking lot of the YMCA; it might be still there.
Thanks for the heads up on the EPDM hoses, I need to remote locate my master reservoir as I am fitting a strut brace on my pickup, looks like just the job 😃
My dad had bought a green 80 something wagoneer before I was born in the late 90's and when he went to pick it up, guess what, no brakes. He drove from Delaware to New York City using the foot handbrake. Pretty much every car he's owned was a clunker
IT also works for trans line to. I had a 77 chevy pu that had a standard radiator in it and soon learned gas line didn't work. Also my dad grow up in rye NH He did body work on car for over 50 years I learned a lot from him.
Blue painters tape works extremely well at keeping water and debris out of vents. I have it on my car outside for a year now and it's still holding up and it doesn't damage the paint
there also was one commercial talking about how stury they were built and that they were painted inside and out so they would never rust......funny, as we are watching mustie repair rust on one
I had a beetle - I actually drove it right over a pile of snow that the plow truck left blocking the entrance to the side street., I was rather impressed.
Nice to see some more progress on the 68. When you spray the fluid film in the interior, does it leave a strong odor? That is one happy dog, always good to see another happy rescue dog!
I used to own a 69, same color. My sister gave it to me when the guy are the garage told her $200.00 to fix the brakes. Pulled out the Idiot Manual and I fixed it for a lot less than $200. She stills reminds me now and then how I "tricked" her into giving me the car. Yeah, I love you too M.
We do 100% silicone for all firewall and other penetrations. Sometimes a grommet if needs to be removable. All cop cars and emergency vehicle installs get siliconed.
hi i find your teaching very useful as my brother has 2 vw one beach buggy in bits one split screen 1962 as he was born then me im more trikes with bug engin so thanks some extreamly usful tips thanks
If you are stuck for brake line hose, you can always try track down a front brake line from a motorcycle. Front brake lines on motorcycles normally are a reasonably large diameter and also can take pressure if you need them too.
good work on the brake line....they do sell the grommets for when the line goes through the pan that are split for easy install , but no biggie in your situation... that quick shift kit no work a so good when the bushing is bad...I prefer not using the quick shift kit....there is a added bushing under the shifter handle itself that goes with the kit you need to remove if your not gonna use that quick shift kit... have to disassemble shifter which take about 30 seconds...lol Happy Easter egg hunting
Pound pets are the best pets people! And if you have any interests in getting a animal for your home, check your pound/humane society/rescue center, as the love of your life is waiting there for you! And are those new parts to fix up the blue bug at the end of the video? Need to get that stickerable, so another video needs to come soon!
i have to give you a lot of credit, i've tried to film me doing things and most times i'm ready to break things , i can see when you get frustrated with something, you will be like, i cant have you me and it in there so ill do this and bring you guys back... excellent job !! I couldn't do that and hold a camera id be screaming and probably throw the camera . i love watching you work on the bugs and mini buses. You make this look so easy, HOWEVER we do have to remember the back breaking and spine bending and contorting you do to get the job done . i give you full honers and respect for the work you do in restoration of these Classic machines bringing us along through the good bad and the ugly times , i bow to you sir , i couldn't do what you do i don't have the patients. i used to just don't any more sadly , thank you so much for uploading this for us to enjoy your adventures in restoration. !
I sure am enjoying this video, even more than the others. I've got this silly idea that I'd like to get a 12 volt Beetle of approximately this same vintage and restore it to a sort of Porsche Super 90 wannabe. First the rust goes followed by new paint and new interior. Then a 1776cc engine with electronic ignition, probably with a progressive 2bbl instead of duals. Sway bars. Inside the cab, a short-throw shifter and a tach placed so it looks like it belongs. Stock radio. And do I dare -- install slightly wider wheels and --- slightly wider fiberglass fenders all around? SACRILEGE!
PS, quite a few of those bugs were cut up for Dune Buggies back in the 70s, we used to borrow old ones that we're unattended for long periods of time, open hood ignition wires were rite there in case u didn't have the keys
😂😂😂 Love your reaction 10:06 😂😂😂 shit happens better to laugh and to bee angry and cry . thanks for keeping that in made my day. love to see you work and handle the situation when they come up 👍🏻👍🏻💜
Seeing the dog happy made my day... 5 stars!
I have a 64 but I always liked the 68. That 1500 is the best motor VW ever made IMO. Cheers!
My first car was a VW bug 1961. That car was fun to drive. One of these days I’d like to have another one.

yes indeed repairing another Mustie steed.I so enjoy watching you make things better than you find them.
Brings back memories of when I lived in Germany during the 80s and 90s. No matter how much snow we got, my Beetle always got me to and from work. Not warmly, but it got there.

Congratulation for saving dog life!!!
Nice vídeo again ... I like a lot !
You and Tonella in Brazil, make our better morning with yours vídeos...
Nice job !
As always a pleasure to watch .keep up the great work .Gordon from Scotland

Another Mustie masterpiece. Thanks for bringing us along.
I love watching you work and EXPLAIN THINGS😊😊 great job teach!
That's a great car. My navy buddy had one.way back in the late 70's. We went everywhere down south in that bug. That is a reliable vehicle. Nice work Mr. Mustie!!!
very cool !! Thanks for your help its done ! hope to drive it soon cant wait !
awsumm
Great video, as always. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you!
Thanks you just keep making my days better and better.

Memories, My first car was a 69 bug same color blue. Just back from Vietnam ,bought it new 2 K. Sold it 6 yrs. later for 1500.
Glad to see an old bug getting fixed, hardly see these on the road anymore. what I hate is someone hacking a bug
Your new dog reminded me to give your video a thumbs up! Thanks for being awesome!
Love your videos... ha cool mini police paddy wagon in the background
I had a beetle when i was 18 :o) That plastic behind the door-cardboard must be 100% or water will leak in. One of many places for waterleaks, but i guess you know. Enjoying your videos! Keep up the good work.

1st class video to watch thank you take care kind regards from me kenneth
Man, I love the sound of a VW! Climbing out of that snowbank was better than the sound of an F1 car! Thanks, Mustie!
i have been watching your beetle vids, good stuff, getting old stuff running sure can be fun, I have my eye on an old bug that's been sitting outside for a few years, not sure what left that's good, its free if I want it and comes with papers, I also hear stories of an old split window van sitting up in the mountains, I hear you could throw a cat through it anywhere, but now after watching your vids I better go check that out to, thanks for your effort.
I like the exhaust, it's the same muffler I had on "my" 68. I had soooooo much fun with mine.
Hi Love that bug wish I could find one in the uk like that!!! Fingers crossed one day 👍
never been into VWs, but ur making me love their simplicity. Im a big FJ40 fan for the same reason.
Mustie you know so much about beetles and busses that you should make videos for what to look out when buying one, the basic rust spots etc. It would help people that want to buy one but dont yet know about the mechanics and tricks of them
Love the VWs....rust is always a problem here in New England, with any vehicle. Nice job on yours.
Love all the VW stuff, waiting for the double cab to get back in the shop and the fastback... But come on Stain Glass? Show more of that, let's see what you got! Quit hiding these talents.
Hats off to your brother, for getting a rescue dog, :)
Ditto friend, that was a happy girl for sure. Save a dog and your rewards will come 10 fold.
You took the drivers side seat up and there wasn't a single McDonalds french fry? Amazing!
Smashing job mustie :-D
That old brake line lasted really well :-D.
Nicely preserved floor panel now, it should last out the rest of the car.
Ahh its always nice to see a dog rescued, and that one looks loverly :-D.
If the dog is happy that’s all that matters.thanks for saving the dogs life 👏🏻👍🏻
MARK LOCKWOOD I
Stained Glass looked cool, guess that was the class you mentioned. Really enjoying the mix of content you are giving us, Thank You.

thanks, my dad bought a 68 new when l was a kid,
Wrenching old VW's, stained glass work and happy dogs. Nice life you got there.

That's a very nice man at the VW Store. Please tell the other Mr. Mustie thank you for rescuing animals.
awesome to see those dogs having fun in the snow. and your videos are great.
mustie1 young sir, trust in your way of working things out. Others may hasten, but you need not be tempted by them.
Boy, did that video take me back some years. Thank you.
Looks and drives well good work👌
Mustie makes it look so simple; amazing videos all!
Thanks for the heads up on the EPDM hoses, I need to remote locate my master reservoir as I am fitting a strut brace on my pickup, looks like just the job 😃
Just bought a gulf blue 63 and man I wish you lived close to me!!! LOL.
My dad had bought a green 80 something wagoneer before I was born in the late 90's and when he went to pick it up, guess what, no brakes. He drove from Delaware to New York City using the foot handbrake. Pretty much every car he's owned was a clunker

I love vintage VW bugs, esp. with the metal dashboards. I like the '68 you're working on!
Good for another 50 years.....well done 👍
Blue painters tape works extremely well at keeping water and debris out of vents. I have it on my car outside for a year now and it's still holding up and it doesn't damage the paint
Mustie makes me want an old VW....
I just want an old car in general
Can't believe I am saying this, but "me too". AND I think I can rebuild the "carb".
Of course it climbed right out of the snow. Remember that old ad that asked, "What does the snow plow driver drive to work?"
Here's the ad for those wondering: /watch?v=qfirnP08FP0
John Gassmann I remember that ad!
there also was one commercial talking about how stury they were built and that they were painted inside and out so they would never rust......funny, as we are watching mustie repair rust on one
I had a beetle - I actually drove it right over a pile of snow that the plow truck left blocking the entrance to the side street., I was rather impressed.
Love the sound of that single pipe exhaust.
Looks so cold down there. Up here on Vancouver island it is a balmy 18 degrees C. Keep em coming Mustie. thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed meeting Sadie , Thank You
Nice to see some more progress on the 68. When you spray the fluid film in the interior, does it leave a strong odor? That is one happy dog, always good to see another happy rescue dog!
Don't forget the water in the radiator......and the Farnicastaff bracket adjustments.
Female “logic” is alive and well!

hi i find your teaching very useful as my brother has 2 vw one beach buggy in bits one split screen 1962 as he was born then me im more trikes with bug engin so thanks some extreamly usful tips thanks
Great video mustie. Love the steering wheel, it reminds me of the one I had in my 69 cutlass convertible. Keep on trucking....
I'm at the same spot as you with a 93 jeep cherokee. I'm gonna use fluid film on the floors before putting the carpet back in. Good idea.
If you are stuck for brake line hose, you can always try track down a front brake line from a motorcycle. Front brake lines on motorcycles normally are a reasonably large diameter and also can take pressure if you need them too.
Nice job, good floors to be original. Definitely a nice bug there.
Nice! I just did the brakes and lines on my 68 f250, it was a pain in the butt in some spots.
another great video! The test drive was my favorite !
Wow perfect timing again!! I swear mustie knows right when I need another video!
I was about to PM the VwNut neighbour guy....Perfect timing!
Mustie you are the best! Always enjoy your viedeo's
nothing happier than a loved dog rolling in something stinky!
Stained glass that’s cool can’t wait to see what ya come up with. Cheers
Stained glass classes Are fun stuff. Thanks for the shop time.
Good job. You should make a camera mount with one of them strong magnets, that way you can hang the camera easily and free up your hands
Those strong earth magnets can ruin electronics
Saving a 68 Beetle and a dog in one video. Awesome!
Dog heaven at the end. I watch many UA-cam videos where the dog is howling and whimpering because he has to leave the dog park.
Brake fluid is Diethylene Glycol, antifreeze is Ethylene glycol so any of the hoses are compatible I imagine
Element45 yeah and some idiot is gonna say the fluids interchange with each other now 😂
good work on the brake line....they do sell the grommets for when the line goes through the pan that are split for easy install , but no biggie in your situation... that quick shift kit no work a so good when the bushing is bad...I prefer not using the quick shift kit....there is a added bushing under the shifter handle itself that goes with the kit you need to remove if your not gonna use that quick shift kit... have to disassemble shifter which take about 30 seconds...lol Happy Easter egg hunting

Congratulations to your brother on his new friend. It looks like she will be a poop roller, good luck with that ;)
That's so funny instead of using a shovel you use your foot, I do the same thing in winter, lol
Like in a model T Ford, you would have to go down Mt. Washington to nail the speedometer.
Mustie one for life !! 😁😁. Your the best highly insparational as always !! Thanks for posting another amazing vid !!
Sway bars. Cherry Vee Dub Mustie, I`d Love to own another one. ThankYou for sharing your video, and bringing us into your garage. ATB
Living on the southeastern shore of Lake Erie, I can attest to what good snow machines Beetles are.
anything heater hose will hold up to brake fluid...Mustie1 videos save me again for a project I was stumped on!
PS, quite a few of those bugs were cut up for Dune Buggies back in the 70s, we used to borrow old ones that we're unattended for long periods of time, open hood ignition wires were rite there in case u didn't have the keys
that flat-4 engine sound...! Amazing!
