And of course, there's fusion -- blends of genres, elements of the world, which formed early R&B and rhythmic dance music around 60 years ago or earlier. SM's artists, mainly SHINee, EXO and NCT perform a lot of songs that are R&B: For instance, Baekhyun's album, 'City Lights.' When I was watching (and listening) to you all responding to D.O and Baekhyun, it dawned on me that you're responding to their R&B flavor. One day segregation will end and people won't be boxed according to how they look or their native language. I'm enjoying your "Non K-pop Fans" series. The way the two boys reacted to NCT's "7th Sense" is how my friends react. They simply do not want to have to read subtitles while listening to music so they're dismissive. While I've never paid that much attention to lyrics; I respond to sound. Like Kayla and Apryl, I love R&B -- more so the old school than the current. However, I really enjoy what's come out of the Korean Wave. My most current favorites are: Taemin's "Play Me" (ACE album) Baekhyun's "Stay Up" EXO's "24/7" (Don't Mess Up My Tempo album) Unfortunately, none of these have videos and the concert clips I've seen are inadequate representations.
