Adapter works on both RTW and GSW with BMW Nav mount. BMW lock mechanism on GS also works with this adapter.
Thank you very much for your video ; I juste put the 4 screws of this italian adapter on my just purchased Zumo, it looks like a good solution ; I'm anxious to put it on my BMW to see if this contraption works but without your advice I would have been left with my BMW Motorrad Navigator VI not working anymore and quite annoyed... It seems that your video is the only one that provides this solution to BMW RT owners. So thank you again !
First test today, plugs in perfectly and works perfectly either.
Hi jodellus. I now have the Zumo XT on the adapter on my RT. The release button on Garmin's Zumo XT mount is now unaccessble which means my sat nav lock is still effective. Perfect!
Thanks this is what i was after
Thanks! Does it lock with central locking? Does the Zumo have an easier search interface? It's always a slow, fussy PITA to type a destination.
Thanks 👍
I have an Oldtimers (brand) sat nav lock on my 2018 RT. It works with the central locking system. Wunderlich now makes one as well. It blocks the GPS release button from being depressed hence securing/locking the sat nav. My question is, can you access the release button on the Zumo XT cradle when it and the 3D Motorrad Adapter are on the RT? If not (as I'm hoping) my sat nav lock will still be useful. Of course, if you you can release the Zumo XT from its cradle all I'll be locking is the 3D Motorrad Adapter.
Hi there, can you tell me, does the XT power through this adapter from the BMW cradle (GS), or is additional wiring to power required? Nice video!
Yes, that was the primary reason I got this adapter,
to power the Zumo XT using the existing BMW mount and pass through the power to the new adapter. That way I did not have to run any new wires and use existing BMW mount.
But does the xt work off of satellite like the Nav 6 ? Great video
Yes, the Nav 6 and XT both work off satellite. If you have WiFi in your garage or nearby it will use the data connection to automatically download updates.
When you said 'normal' Garmin mount, that's still the standard BMW Nav mount, right? That's how you can pop the old Zumo in without an adapter.. It's the XT that presents an issue. Been a while since I've used a Garmin.
Yes it is the original BMW Nav mount, the adapter is required to convert the original mount to the new Garmin XT mount. The old Zumo had the same mount as the BMW Nav so no adapter was needed. They also make a mobile phone adapter that will supply power from the BMW Nav mount.
Could you please tell me if when you turn the bike off, does the sat nav give you the option to turn it off. Mine doesn't seem give you the option like the navigator did. I seem to have to turn it off by the switch at the back which isnt easy to get to on the RT. Many thanks.
The Garmin XT does turn off on both my RT and GS but it takes a minute or two for the bike's power to turn off. Once the bike power turns off the Garmin XT goes into a countdown until shut off just like when you unplug from an external power connector. I'm using the stock BMW RT and GS GPS mounts.
Did you purchase in the USA from Italy?
Yes, direct from Italy. Shipped quickly.
@@jodellus Watched your video again. I get the Italian site but not the British site. Do you have the like to the British site. Thanks
@@jodellus Never mind, More searching and I found it. Thanks
Can you send me the link for buying This adaptes?

How long did this take to be delivered to the USA ?
Only took 4 days. I was surprised how fast they shipped..
does the scroller wheel work with this gps ?
No, the wheel does not work with the Garmin XT but I'd rather see the unit in bright sunlight vs zoom in and out with the wheel. The XT touch screen works great to zoom in and out with one touch and has auto zoom levels that work well so I usually do not have to adjust the zoom while riding.
Please tell the company of the adapter!
