I attended the tournament in Arizona. Lost to the one Teija player that only lost to top 8 players, and then to a top 8 player myself. Tied for 12th Brought Sigismar. Definitely looking to attend more tournaments (need good Afanas uniques though)
I think the big problem with Robin Hood is that it’s forced the meta to focus on developing board states with anchoring/sleep/landmarks. If you can’t do that and you have to pay the Robin Hood tax on all your cards 4 turns in a row you can’t compete and you just lose. The card itself limits deck diversity and makes a lot of heroes and entire factions almost unplayable(at least in a tournament or ranked bga sense) So while it might be annoying to decks able to play around it, it’s backbreaking for the ones that can’t. The meta in the here and now is heavily waru dominated, and the other decks that are successful are all decks built to be able to be able to play around a Robin Hood tax. Which in my opinion is a sign that the meta now isn’t healthy, and while an errata right this moment may be too soon, telling players they have to wait until the start of next year may be too late, and if the momentum and hype around the game dies then a new set likely won’t bring it back.
Love the callout on people not running more sabotage action! Ive been running Fen & Crowbar and ive been preaching how effective resupply/sabotage can be at my LGS. Theres one guy who runs Treyst and it always gets under his skin when i sabotage his plays away 🤷♂️
@@RarecuisineSaucegod-ig8bc tinkerbell is a favorite of mine since Fen & Crowbar have a chance to resupply it before the day starts. Flamel is another solid choice.
Great to hear some more details on that report, enjoyed this video as well as the deck coverage on Trickster's site (I need to finish watching the commentaries). Did Trickster say one of his top 8 opponents also has a UA-cam, can we get a link to their channel too?
"Oh, no, you can play a lot of heroes, yeah, go play something else, nothing to see in this waru here, definitely not the clear winner everytime." "Yeah, and I ended up winning, so nice to do that with these Waru list, really nothing out of the ordinary"
its really saddening that we need a 58min video to conclude that is waru all day everyday. Amazingly enough waru players insist there is nothing to balance.
I'm kind of hoping we just see a ban on Rare Robin Hood. I think the common and unique versions are fine, and it's just the rare that puts Waru over the top. Play Waru without RH and it's fine.
I feel the 58min video wasn't to just come to that conclusion. It covered a whole range of things. I can understand the frustration, it is sad to see one deck dominate two major tournaments but with a single set it was always quite likely we'd have a single villain for a while. However, these things don't last forever and the fact Waru has dominated means he has a target on his head and a large portion of competitive players will see that as a challenge. I believe Trickster will probably play a different hero come next tournament and I imagine a lot of others will do the same, especially if people believe they have cracked the match up. Even if that doesn't happen, we have a confirmed second set so things will shake up for certain. Also we're purely speaking tournaments here, I play BGA each day and don't see Waru all that often.
I am not sure if it's just that they are Waru players or it is as much a feature of the game being small and new. I think with niche card games like this, people feel the need to defend the game from any perceived slights.
@@Monkey_D._Elliott That´s a mistake. The deck still work very fine without Robin Hood. The matches are just easier with it. The thing that is breaking the game, is sleep. The abilities working while the char sleeps is just plain wrong.
@@rogrig Personally, to me Robin Hood is the real power outlier and the thing that pushes Waru over. In a meta without the Rare version, or where it's not a bureaucrat, it's a lot easier to deal with. I'm fine with how sleep works and I'm fine with Waru and Mack being a too 3 deck. Something had to be. The issue is always when the gulf between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, and then 3 and the rest of the decks is too wide. Which is where we're at now. If we see a small adjustment or ban of the rare version and set 2 drops, I think we'll be fine.

What do you run for sabotage? I have seen someone run 3 Tinker Bell F and 3 Tanuki R. I am considering Spycraft and Flamel.
