Gotta disagree with this rhetoric that’s going round, obviously popularised by the meme but the “what do DJs actually do” thing is just so daft, people are confusing a DJ with a producer. Going to watch a DJ do a DJ set, playing other people’s songs… you could argue that artists can be interchangeable etc and it attracts people who care less about who that person is, but a producer creates music that is identifiably them such as Nia Archives, DJ Seinfeld and Sally C and going seeing them live playing just their stuff is the same as going to watch a band do a tour. I get that electronic music isn’t for everyone but this attitude from people into bands that unless music is done on a guitar with vocals, that it’s not music or not as creative or identifiable is just close minded. P.S I was a promoter for 17 years and actually booked Chase & Status for a DJ set at Sankeys in around 2009 in Manchester and only 1 turned up, with another C&S DJ set booked the same night in a totally different city, leading to a lot of disgruntled fans so it’s been a common thing for ages that they do that.
Whilst some DJs (hedex, for example) clearly do a lot live, I’ve personally seen the biggest in the biz like guetta and Calvin Harris LITERALLY do nothing
What makes me laugh is how much love Bou and Hedex get when they're 2 of the worst DJs you can see live atm compared to the likes of A.M.C, Andy C, ChalieTee or S.P.Y

Really enjoyed this video, but enjoyed the format you had previously where you ranked based on the whole festival e.g. not just scoring line up but also price, location, etc. Actually think Reading & Leeds really targeting day tickets this year, which maybe isn't a bad strategy given how much competition there is that Bank Holiday weekend now. I'd disagree with the statement "if you are a bmth, you aren't going to see them at reading when they'll be at a city near you at some point" I get the point being made, but bmth will always throw their biggest shows with special occasions. So with them finally headlining Reading/Leeds, like actually closing the night out, they have said it'll be their biggest and most special show. I mean, as a bmth fan, I'm definitely traveling from the US to reading just for them even if the rest of the line up isn't the best I agree. Your description of DJ’s & the music they play is pretty shameful, considering the amount of festivals you attend. You’re basically suggesting all DJ’s skill level is exactly the same which couldn’t be further from the truth
I'm a former DJ and with modern technology and a decent knowledge of music, anyone can learn to DJ pretty quickly these days. There is of course a skill gap but the majority of people at a festival aren't going to know the difference between them and someone pressing sync every record. Talking about dance music here, there are obviously some DJs in hip hop that are incredible.

OK fine, you don't 'get' electronic music (your loss...), but Pulp and the Fat White Family are some of the best live acts anywhere. And Spiritualized and Hot Chip DJ set same day. Phenomenal. The Wombats and 2 Door Cinema Club didn't exactly have a lot to say in the first place - why the desire to see them over and over again for decades? If it was The Cribs or AM, I'd understand, at least they keep evolving.
Find it kinda strange that you guys like bands like the Ks at tramlines but gloss over sea girls or wunderhorse at R&L is that because you don’t like the bands or that they’re at R&L over bigger names? Just curious?
The TPD take on Korn was so poor, a lot of people for some reason have this opinion. The band has been going for 30 years and are celebrating the anniversary, they are constantly played in clubs and also so good live, they 100% deserve the spot to headline an alternative festival. I would bet that people know more Korn songs than they do Maiden.
Rating these lineups in the context of a bunch of friends who go to A LOT of fests is poor. Most people aren’t going to see BMTH 3+ times in a year and see Becky Hill at Transmt as well.
Agree to disagree - Obviously, every generation have different music taste & point of view. Hozier was big for take me church 7 years ago and the song they used in the walking dead. He’s also brilliant live and I’ve seen him twice. You had Cherry Wine,l and arsonist lullaby the song from walking dead. He’s also got a hauntingly beautiful voice. 2014 actually for take me to church. Leeds isn’t a good line up at all. Just booked a hotel for Sziget and it was really hard to get flights. Have to travel from Heathrow at 21.45 on the 5th to there. Hotels weren’t cheap ether in central Budapest.

Leeds screams old people using tiktok to pick artists. Chappell Roan headlining? I get she's one of the most popular artists out there right now but there's a good chance in 6 months no one gives a fuck about her anymore and we look back at her headlining in disbelief (while i do think she will last personally). We have no prior data to suggest people will even care about her by the time she plays Leeds because of her short time at the 'top' risky cash grab attempt from organisers imo. Also if you book her in a lower slot and 100K people turn up to watch her at 3.30 then you've created a legendary moment that people will remember forever creating a more robust headlining act in the future. I remember catfish + the bottlemen 2014 booked before they blew up, we knew then and there a future headliner was born when the tent was completely overfilled with people going crazy. Same with Post Malone 2018. Short sighted booking from people who dont care about the future of the festival unfortunately.
The reading/leeds festival line up just screams to me "we spunked all the budget in Travis Scott" hozier & Chappell roan is boring let's be honest and as much as I love BMTH it seems like the David Brent meme, "go get bring me again"

Amyl and the Sniffers are great!
If you go primavera make sure you head to the auditorium
Unreal soundn
nice one!
all love, been a huge fan for years, just wondering why you guys dislike travis scott. I understand if the music isn’t for u, but i think as a performer he always puts on a show - just curious :)
Probably because his negligence at Astroworld cost 10 people their lives.
@ even tho the courts have said he isn’t at fault, and stopped the show at different points to see if ppl r okay. Btw im not even trying to defend him, I just thought that it was found he isn’t liable and it’s a tragic accident, tbf i typed this early in the video and heard him say the other stuff later
Good content
linkin park looks like they'll be doing their one uk outdoor show
Coachella lineup looks terrible to me, but its not my scene. Variety is the spice of life, but I like what I like.
No wayyyy it’s ace!!
Coachella's lineup always seems so mid to me, this is the best one theyve had in years and it's still lackluster
Totally agree about Leeds/Reading fest. It isnt what it used be and Linkin Park would've been the perfect band to book for this years line-up! 🤘🏻 It's full of little gremlin chavs now who think they're gonna be the next Connor McGregor
Still waiting to see Electric Forest come up for review 😢
Pulp, shite or otherwise, are from Sheffield
proves how little impact theyve had on me eh
Travis Scott having no talent while selling out arenas globaly and made 3 of the highest rated and selling hip hop/pop albums of all time is insane work.
great team around him
Pocket watching is also insane work my boy.
include roskilde in the next one pls
What a suprise they love the coachella line up and hates metal but go to download every year
Where do you get this from? Coachella lineup was whack last 3 years, Literally LOVE metal, and we’re not going to download 😅
@poddy you said that last year about Download still went and you literally gave coahella the best review
i thought i was personally quite vocal about my dislike for the 2024 coachella lineup. also we TRIED not to go to download this year but we couldn't sort shit. this year we have!
@@poddy you love metal but slagged off graspop line up, complained that it was loud at damnation festival like OAPs and probably never going back to bloodstock ever again
It was loud as fuck at damnation lol. The graspop lineup could be better. Went to graspop this year and loved it. Bloodstock is too small stakes for a main summer video
PULP NOT from Sheffield. One of Sheffield's biggest bands. & esp at The Leadmill - all your favourites night out where PULP started out playing loads! (apart from The Limit Club before). How can this have been missed? It's F'd up!
Snowboming lineup is top notch for the electronic music fans, big big drum&bass and house artists
no !
@@cube1089 Relax Ice, your songs are trash and your acting is even worse
uhm....you guys are a bit ignorant, i used to have a lot more expectations from you, you have no idea about music culture, besides few artists you are following , so don’t talk like you know everything and Mary...... DE is from germany, not denmark, but how would you know this lol
i think hozier might surprise you. He has songs much better than the one which went viral recently and i think he's fucking great live :)
I think the viral one deffo got him the headline slot tho!
@@poddy oh yeah ofc!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check out the wurzels at boom town i promise you it will be the best festival show of your life.
wow so many negative comments. my only comment is this was filmed on a potato.
Mary did perfect as always
Still no Hellfest 😢
It’s lit!! or is it..?
The reading/leeds festival line up just screams to me "we spunked all the budget in Travis Scott" hozier & Chappell roan is boring let's be honest and as much as I love BMTH it seems like the David Brent meme, "go get bring me again"
The veil is slipping
if i join you at download next year- il poo in a bucket hat fr fr fr
also boomtown having the wurzels = 100 out of 5 - its genuinely a legendary set and vibes (with enough cider and beer)
