@@irembal6011 a lot of gen 1 players prefer Fearow, bc you get Spearow early and have a Flying-type move immediately. In gen 1, the Pidgey line didn't get a STAB move until Wing Attack at like, level 31?

Hi hi hello, that damned arbok gets regenerated a few volumes later if you bothered to read the actual manga! Also the manga itself isn't even that violent, violent? Ehh..no not really, just more realistic. Surprisingly sad and kinda traumatizing (for the protagonists atleast)? Absolutely!
Okay, so there's a bit of confusion going on here that needs to be cleared up. The four comic book-style issues you have are actually just the four chapters of the first of four volumes of the series. Adding on to this is that for some reason, Viz Media gave each volume of the series a different subtitle. However, they're all the same series. In other words, you just reviewed volume 1 of 4, split into 4 issues
4:42 The Pokemon anime has always been futuristic. If anything the Pokemon world itself is "somewhat" futuristic. People with Elemental creatures is gonna advance faster than a civilization without said creatures. Imagine how easy it is to fish when your best friend doubles as boat, or build buildings with stone and steel manipulating companions.
3:22 for someone who is well versed with Pokémon knowledge I am surprised that you don’t know that the poke ball that we call the “ultraball” is actually known as the “hyperball” how do you not know this.
The explanation for this probably has to do with the Japanese context of managing copyright when it comes to manga. There, if you like an existing saga and you want to draw your own version as a manga, it is actually POSSIBLE to do it and SELL it at stores, without paying a fee or being accepted necessarily by the original author. Those works are known as "doujinshi", non-original stories made by fans, which can be the ways in which the author imagines that some story could have gone, but are also commonly used to make erotic versions based on famous works. Manga stores in Japan have complete sections dedicated to doujinshi, and labeled accordingly. I'm not saying that The Electric Tale of Pikachu is exactly that, but I'm only saying that Japanese people are used to having non-canonical versions of their favorite stories, that Pokémon is a franchise that readily invites to doing this because of it's theme (the own adventure of the player), and that creating this sort of content (own versions) is by no means regarded as a crime. About the erotic content, they don't see it as very strange either. Japanese society are far from perverts, it's just they don't demonize erotic contents and are kinda common even if far from the norm. In this context, it's not strange that some work like this found it's place in a dedicated manga magazine (CoroCoro) which has published many (A LOT!) other works of Pokémon manga, none of them canonical for the anime or games. They are just meant to be entertaining stories that sell well. Just if you are curious: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_manga Surely it is not that Nintendo or Game Freak specifically COMISSIONED this manga to be like it is. Probably, the author created this thing, someone in charge got to see it (maybe it was sent to them) and thought that it was entertaining, well done, and that people would enjoy it, and then it was authorized somehow. But this is kinda common there. By the way, this author has a fanbase in the Pokémon community not because of the weirdness of humans or situations but for his Pokémon depictions, which are quite nice :)
The ending for the final book of the manga is one of my favorite manga endings of all time. James proposes to Jessie, and it cuts ahead a few years later to reveal that Jessie is pregnant. I shipped those two ever since I was a kid, so I was so happy to see them together.
For the censorship thing, there were two editions of the book. The first is what you have which is the normal comic book style binding that was rushed out. The second is more of the trade releases that have a different binding. The rushed version was incompletely worked over.
Yeah, the Pokemon designs are on point in this series. Cute ones are cute to the max. Awesome ones look even more awesome. Even the Hitmonchan at the start of the Orange Island arc is amazing. To say nothing of the tech and world building

It will never fail to shock me when Nintendo hires people from the porn industry help in the making of their products. A hentai artist for this comic, a pornstar voicing a character in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Always surprising, not gonna lie.
The biggest shock I found out is that when Platinum Games made a Link costume for Bayonetta, it originally had an undershirt and Nintendo themselves told Platinum to get rid of it because it fits Bayonetta more. The devs were even shocked to hear that coming from Nintendo
I absolutely love the design of Misty in that comic. The jacket and baggy shorts over the tube top(or whatever it is). And I actually prefer the wetsuit over the first bikini thing. It just makes more sense. I also loved a lot of the more realistic/edgy Pokemon designs. But I laughed so hard at May's "boobs". She looks like she cut a football in half and stuck them under her shirt.

I kinda like the idea of a "trainer license". It makes a lot of sense. We have licenses for driving, guns, and the sale of certain products, so it makes perfect sense someone, especially a literal child, would need a license to go run around the continent with a lightning-firing mouse catching giant rock snakes and lizards the size of him that not only shoot flames but have tails that are on fire at all times. Also just helps the suspension of disbelief. Sometimes part of me also kinda wishes they kept the whole normal animals existing alongside Pokemon thing. I think it's a pretty interesting idea to have Pokemon be almost like a higher, more advanced set of animals, almost like mutants/XMen to the rest of humanity.
2:07-2:22 I think the artist was trying to make him look a little bit like Trainer Red and not a lot like Ash 'cause in this manga the design of Ash did make me think "Ash looks somewhat like Trainer Red?".
11:50 You probably have the Chuang Yi translation, which used the some of Japanese illustrations but featured entirely English text. Chuang Yi's translation even featured the infamous naked Misty scene that was removed from the Viz Media version, which is more common in the West.

This brings me back some early Pokemon memories and realizing that at the time, Pokemon was not just for kids but also for teenagers like myself when I was 15 and brought a few volumes of this series at a shop that sold these comics. Of course the shop is no longer around, but I still remember getting just a few volumes of this in their store around the year 2000 or so, I was 15 at the time and the design of Misty in Vol 1 was allot different than her Anime version. Allot different like in 4 cup size difference.
i remember this manga being hardcore. i read an issue where ash's charizard fought ritchie's charizard, and due to ash's own being far more vicious, ash's charizard mauled ritchie's, causing ash to be disqualified from the league due to charizard leaving ritchie's own on the verge of death. there's also that black fog haunter that i'll never forget.
The classical music version of onix is that one in the anime that was clear like a crystal or diamond.Yes the wrong order due to censorship issues plot based ones 😏 I read it up to the 4th it’s also called dengeki pikachu! I still haven’t read the rest yet. I like the explanation of professor oak having a charmander it’s been referenced 4 times that I know of one was a movie another was anime and the was a game one that one was a game shark needed one to fight him. The gengar line is often considered that ghastly is humans after death and you could understand how a “god” could be a haunter. Besides sizes of Pokémon are a very odd thing I just know they are constantly inconsistent and especially now vs the anime and Pokémon adventure manga and this series.
"Who in their right mind catches a Fearow?" MysticUmbreon and other Poketubers who make best in-game team videos: I took great offense to that Context: Fearow is actually a very good flying type pick especially in Kanto and Johto games that are lacking in strong flying types. I remember having these comics as a kid! Loved the style of the pokemon, and spent a lot of time tracing panels
I also like how Ash looks. Looks kinda cute
We need more male moe
Ash is 10 years old
Moe is about “I want to protect” feelings, usually never sexual.
He's 10.
17:17 Pikachu sends up some dust that shows an image of Mews face
Story time with Gnoggin. Love it.
11:04 Best Brock in the universe.
Missed an opportunity to say "Is professor Oak a cle-furry?"
I love this manga as a kid. It would make a perfect movie.
8:25 reminds me of Shouto eating soba XDD
Have you ever read the Pokémon adventures manga? It's a huge Pokémon manga series spanning each Pokémon generation
The Pregnant Jessie Pic with James and Meowth in the end of the series...
Subarashiiii!!!! 😍😍
???
@@weldonspivey5708 look it up!
James proposed to her when they decided to deliver the letter 😍😍
@@superkamehameha1744 Oh. I didn't know that. I never delved past the anime and the games in terms of this franchise.
@@weldonspivey5708 that's not happening in the Anime I think he means the Manga of the video
@@vickypedia1308 I meant Pokemon as a whole when I said that. I know what he means.
You've gotta do more of these! They're really cool.
"Written and illustrated by a famous hentai artist."
Wait! What?!
"That's right a hentai artist"
...Huh...That answers...a few things.
i remember this manga being hardcore. i read an issue where ash's charizard fought ritchie's charizard, and due to ash's own being far more vicious, ash's charizard mauled ritchie's, causing ash to be disqualified from the league due to charizard leaving ritchie's own on the verge of death. there's also that black fog haunter that i'll never forget.
"Who in their right mind catches a Fearow?"
MysticUmbreon and other Poketubers who make best in-game team videos: I took great offense to that
Context: Fearow is actually a very good flying type pick especially in Kanto and Johto games that are lacking in strong flying types. As such it is often put in "Best team for" videos.
Professor oak is a clefurry xD
The ball with hyper on it is probably an ultra ball since in Japan ultra balls are called hyper balls, which is why in game the the yellow lines on an ultra ball looks like a H.
You need to take it like half a notch down on this video my man. That said, i remember my cousin had these and I loved them. To me anime and Manga always felt like adult stuff back in the day, and seeing the skimpy art (i must have read your same version cuz boy do i remember Misty's swimsuit) I felt cool as hell readinf this. Also the pokemon looked cooler for the most part.
1:02 I used a shiny Fearow on my Let's Go Eevee playthrough
0:19 ... If it's man-ga, then that's acceptable, but mange-uuh? How on earth did that pronunciation happen? It's mah-n-gah, since the Japanese a is pronounce ah. Okay, lecture over!
A joke....
That panel of Brock looking distraught reminds me of that, by now ancient, scene from the old Bob and George comic. XD
George: "Yes! I'm still alive!"
Bob: "No! Dammit all to hell!"
I love how lockstin is like im uncomfortable that ash looks like a cute tom boy and about the reputation of the artist
Professor Oak is Clefurry!
As a kid, I think I had a copy of one of these, more specifically the one with the "Pikachu's Goodbye" parallel.

@@chrisshep7564 sorry but but a *TOTALLY HARMLESS* bear offered first
The Manga is out of order, In the Electric Tale of Pikachu he beats the Cerulean Gym first then doubles back to Mt. Moon to catch Clefairy but since in the games you go through Mt. Moon before Cerulean they made the Clefairy issue #2 instead for the English release. Also I _know_ there were more issues than you covered here, as I distinctly remember more stories from the EToP including adaptations of the Eevee Brothers story, The Pokemon Village and Pikachu's Goodbye stories.
This was a great video not gonna lie
