Paul, you are really the master of VALUE. It is impressive how you can make objects appear just by nailing the right value relationship. Congratulations and thank you for your teaching
Thank you! There was a time I gave up colour altogetherfor a year just to practice value. That might be a little extreme perhaps, but the discipline was good. I do still struggle with it sometimes, but repeated value studies are the best way to nail it. With the chromaMagic app and an inexpensive Munsell value scale, you have an excellent tool kit to help you practice getting values right.

Just watched this. I wonder if you worked on the plum more. It looks more rounded and a bit plummier versus grayer color especially near highlight. The glass turned out loverly! Thanks for sharing.
No, these are alla prima demos and the main point was to demonstrate painting the glass. I put the plum in becasue I liked the colour with the blue of the glass :)
Hi Paul, I just discovered your channel yesterday, thank you for these videos, the explanation and the tips, I find them very entertaining and helpful as a beginner painter. I was wondering if you could make the reference photos available for these Friday sessions so I could try to follow along?
Glad youre enjoying the demos Peter. High res versions of the reference photos in colour and BW (with value numbers ) included matching hte Munsell scale are available to my online art school members - also the materials list for each demo. The school also includes a private online community, monthly critique sessions and a bunch of online courses, you can find out more about it here: courses.learning-to-see.co.uk/bundles/paul-foxton-online-art-school
My computer is too old to access the level of technology you have. I will have to find an analog way to achieve the proper values. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful painting! I adore glass and fruit! Lisa
❤ This is a fantastic painting Paul! Thank you!

Great demo. Let us know if you decide to sell any of them, might like to buy one or two.
