Just talking to fans of this classic in now 2022 lol. Yeah i guess nobody's watching now but.... come on. How did this amazing piece of writing acting and actual heart-warming art not become one of the most iconic master pieces ever made. Its right up there with the amazing pulp fiction Scene with Samuel Jacksons the path of the rightest man scene. The amazing batman scene when the joker meets the mob in the dark knight. The you cant handle the truth scene Lol every scene with Alfi Solomon in Peaky blinders. I'm going on record to say this is the most underrated movie ever made was Mr slaters magnum opus along with our English friend Mr EE bacon. I've been trying so long to get this movie again on DVD. Cant find it anywhere. I cant give this movie enough props
While we strive to prevent crime what shall we do with a man who has committed it? We aim to make him his better self-Well throwing him in solitary confinement for more than three years certainly did not make him his better self. It made him a murderer.
Exactly. I've visited Alcatraz many times and the reality is that Alcatraz wasn't the medieval hellhole that Hollywood portrays it as. The wardens were decent men and for the most part the guards were firm but fair
He's a lawyer , he's going to make a 1000 days seem like 10 years if he can That wasn't obvious? Just for the future , people exaggerate The fishermans fish wasn't really 10 feet and 200 lbs It was barely a foot and weighed less than 5 But I'm sure the story was a good one But he wasn't really in a thunderstorm in the ocean fighting with the fish or the boat would capsize No he stood at the end of the pier in a small river
"I'm sure Henry Young thanks you for his better self"
Christian Slater is really good in it.

My thoughts exactly...Should be right up there with The Shawshank Redemption.
the best scene ever
That warden makes me sick
Why? If you know anything about Henri Young, it's not what the movie portrays. He was a violent criminal. The movie was pure fiction.
Luckily the real wardens of Alcatraz were decent men. Hollywood likes to portray Alcatraz as a medieval dungeon and the guards as thugs
He tried to escape... In case you missed that
Well...that’s the thing you see.

Wardens a good actor too
He really is Gary Oldman a legend just like Kevin Bacon.
the mirror is looking back.
General Ermey's the Judge?!
Yep!
Stefan Gierasch portrayed the gauleiter in The Sound of Music's original Broadway production. I can tell!
The old prisoner as victim and evil warden Hollywood trope.

@@Vizzini_ L take
@@Vizzini_ did u visit it back in the 1920s and 1930s?
Bacon's character was in the hole for 1000 days, so how does Slaters character get that
Bacon was in the hole for Three and a half
years?
