This is by far my favorite painting and lesson in this series. I hadn't seen you paint before in this 'brushy' way which I also adore. Also really love the pushed hues and saturation. Truly beautiful! I feel really inspired now for my next painting. 😀
I'm an illustrator that is also trying to expand my skills into oil painting as well. Been working on my own stuff as you narrate your painting process daily. Thank you for the very insightful comments into painting and for the videos - keeping me company as I work. :)
This was super interesting and inspiring, both the things you talked about and the painting process! I also really, really enjoy the warm hues you sculpted the face with. Thank you for sharing!
“Even if the mark was “wrong”, it gives you an idea of what the painter was trying to do when trying to solve something. It’s like an x-ray for how painters think.” (6:05) ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
It was very interesting how you worked up the drawing and then basically painted directly over it around 4:11, not really preserving any of the drawing. I tend to start the same way but I try to preserve as much of the drawing as possible. I'm inspired to try your technique the next time I paint from life.
I think many finnish painters of that era you are talking had both european and russian influences melted on their work. For example Edelfelt and Akseli Gallen-Kallela.
Hi! Just love what you and Dani are doing, this is so great. Love all the history and discussion/thougths on painters that you think about when painting. I have already taken in so much, it's amazing. Thank you! Question, are there some female painters that you reference? Thank you!!
Hi. Can you show us your pallet as you work some time? I heard you say you use an open pallet in another video. Im only used to seeing people premix, which doesnt appeal to me. Thanks
I’ve had an opposite experience growing up under the influence of the Russian art history in Ukraine. You should check out Vrubel. He is not appreciated in the West at all but one of the greatest Russian artist. As for Ukrainian art Boychuk is amaizing, but unfortunately he suffered from the Soviet regime, not only Bolsheviks executed him, but also all his students.
I know your work is just basic illustration and not great art but I loved it all the same, you should really work in advertisement. Greetings, from Estonia.

Gracias y salud
Sí, sería muy útil!
Hi, Can't you keep a picture of the model in a corner of the screen ??? It would be very helpful to the viewer.
