12:05 YES ! TEARDOWN OF WORLDS SHITTIEST CAMERA ! Thumb up so Dave can see !:D
I enjoy all of Dave's videos, but my favorite videos are the "mailbag" videos. :-)
Camera teardown.... with a hammer! Hammer down Tuesday! ;)
Camera teardown.
Do it! I like the idea of "inside the world's shittiest, cheapest camcorder!"
21 thumbs up, guess I'd better do it! It is Teardown Tuesday today...
EEVblog You'd better. We've seen lots of high quality on your channel, let's see some low quality. I've personally been considering doing a teardown series of dollar store electronics (I blame a reviewer in the UK named Ashens.)
EEVblog
open it with a hammer
EEVblog You did the cheap flip phone, time for a cheap camera. :D
sonicase Then burn it when you're done. Leave no evidence of the atrocity..
Camera teardown? Yes. Playing with eRIC? Absolutely! Looking forward to see them both.
Thumbs up for a teardown on the crappy camera.
It says "please CONTINUE to charge" so I bet it needs a full charge first time.
Also, at least one of the spring connectors on the eRIC (bottom left) is bent away and not touching the half moon pad.
Should be noted that the Visionect thing has a 239EUR DIY option. Check the site for details on that, and check out the banner image of dude being bored with it. That's great stuff.
you think maybe the 'this might take a few seconds' was referring to the time you need to touch the screen for?
So the shitty camera works better than the expensive tablet. That's funny as hell. Now i'm undecided which we should get a tear down of. The copy/pasta system out of a phone = camera or the "leading" industry tablet.
I love that spring socket design on the eRIC modules, very clever.
The springs are a result of the creative usage of test-loops
The eRICs deffinately desirve a follow-up!
I would love the oscar, I am really trying to get into electronics deeper and a surface mount kit would really help!
Hey Dave, I would love to see you play around with the RF recievers, I feel like there is a lot to learn there and it could be a lot of fun. Thanks for taking the time to make all of the videos!
Rest in Pieces Wireless Mike.
rip in piece
Dave, MD is Maryland here in the states. Love the mailbag videos, keep them coming.
"Drier than a dead dingoes donga" ! Love it !
did you try to touch AND HOLD for few seconds? could imagine they are polling less frequently in stand by.
Yep, pretty sure I tried that.
EEVblog isnt it looks broken there is like a ghost image after first startup attempt
EEVblog
but swiping might work :D
maybe it needs a woman's touch :D hahahaha
I'd love to see more about that radio module!
I definitely want to see a tear down of the camcorder!
Hell YES I wanna see inside that cheap camera
Love to see the Eric stuff in a new video
Hoping it will get reviewed - although as eRIC's makers we are always nervous about live reviews. Dave is amazing to watch though.
Try holding your finger on the eink tablet longer. It could be a lock screen to prevent accidental power ups.
Camera tear down ftw
oh yes! a teardown sounds awesome!
Regarding the 6" tablet that won't turn on... Don't turn it on, take it apart.
You need to tear down that camera!!
Is it just me or was he just tappnig instead of touching that e-ink tablet ?
As in "hold to start"
Hope to see more from eRIC Chip and also want to know if the e-reader has finally booted?
Would love to see more of the RF modules.
That eRIC chip seems interesting.
High end video cameras use a SMPTE-standard Lemo connector for fiber and power in one hybrid cable. The Neutrik Opticalcon is a similar connector which costs a lot less, so we use it with adapters instead of the Lemo . The Opticalcon is a lot easier to service, too.
that eRIC modules could be great for a practical example of the usage of an MDO while debugging a problem in a device with digital and rf channels... maybe you can lower it's VIN right where some of the digital signals generate problems in the rf channel and try to use an MDO to discover the events relationships/correlation
Hi Pablo. Did you get a chance to try the eRIC modules?
Would love to see a teardown of the camera, must be some high quality work in there!
Guys, 750 for the professional dev kit; 279 for the standard (sells for $349 over here in the U.S.)
Gutted that E-Ink device failed. Really wanted to see a little more of that.
Please show us more of the eRIC!
I would really like to see the experimenting with eRIC... As I am quite a beginner in EE Projects, and I never dared to do RF stuff :)
Hey Dave, I went over to their website to order a copy of that HP Origins DVD and found this copy right agreement. IMPORTANT: Usage Right statement

The multitool is a real common item on those 'boys stuff' / 'gift websites' like iWOOT, Firebox etc. Can get them on ebay for a couple of quid :)
MD is Maryland, not Missouri.
Anson Mansfield it was MO not MD
SweetPoontang He said MD
Visionect shows us why every complex electronic product need at least one button - the reset button ;-).
or a battery door...
The second package you opened is from Maryland, not Missouri.
Please open that beautiful camcorder!
Hey Dave,
Would LOVE to see the RF modules demoed :)
Thanks!
Hi Dave. Have you tried the eRIC modules at all yet?
Defo play about with those wireless transmitters!
Hi Lord Xelous. Did you get some of these transmitters?
No, but you can see what I have been tinkering with on my UA-cam & Twitch :)
I'd like to see you fiddle with that eRIC. I'm really curious!
I would love to see a video on those eRIC modules, they look really neat. Plus, don't you have a 1GHz scope to test out now?
Camera and Visionect tablet teardown.
Also
eRIC module performance test and review Please.
Yes, show the video camera.
Perhaps this Tablet is a dev version and you have to build your own OS with an SDK and flash it yourself?
Would really like to see you work with the eRIC products. I currently use XBee modules and they aren't as easy as serial in and out.
Hia. Did you manager to get your hands on some eRIC modules?
Hey Dave! I'd like to see more on the eRIC product.
Yes more then the Little eRIC tear down(apart) that was done. LOL.
MO is Missouri, where I suspect the package came from. MD is Maryland.
19:30 now i know why the optical mouse part is a little wonky - he needs to remove the protection tape before use...
Would like to see more on the Eric.
Cheers Dave! I'd love to see a full length video on the eRIC, as well as more of that sexy spring socket. Also, a teardown of the world's shittiest video camera sounds like fun!
Please do a teardown of that camera, that would something I would definitely take apart.. just to see if I would be able to send a composite video signal to that screen. The thing will probably have just 1 IC to control everything but would be funny to take apart anyway and then throw it away.
I would love the oscar boards!!
That dollar should work in the bill scanner you did a teardown on. :)
try press on the display of the e-ink display for a few seconds and see if that works? just like when you start a mobilephone you have to hold down the power button for a few seconds :)
Dave, that video camera on about 10 minutes seems like a good device to test the AAA batteroo sleeves that you'll be getting in a few days.
Dave I would love to see a review of the eRIC modules.
I'm guessing you need to plug the tablet into a PC to configure it. The "power saving" disappeared, but the "disconnected" did not.
In depth review with that camera please! and a tear down of course... with a hammer.
The LED lamp isn't a genuie phillips one, its just an old one with some diy'ing in there ;)
touch and HOLD to start. It's made so you don't accidentally turn the thing on with a simple tap. Touch and HOLD.
ADNS 9500... Had the misfortune of dealing with it's older brother the ADNS 9800.
It seems like every laser mouse is using some kind of ADNS family sensor, including mice that were made in the last year but the funny thing is that Avago stopped manufacturing the ADNS family few years ago....
BTW, they forgot to remove the tape from the lenses of the sensor
also, YES I want to see that teardown!
Sagan will love the camera to start his own tearing down videos.
those cheapy camcorders are good for quadcopter fpv, as they are so light but cheap, yet reasonably tough, have a video output and can be found in thrift stores etc...
Yes Dave ! Please its will be a treat !
Hi Dave, PLEASE use that sharpening stone I sent you few months ago,
that swiss knife is very dull!
regards
James
I demand a *smash* down for that camera :D May ask "DeadEric" to assist *lol* and it turns "DeadEric* into "FlatEric" As we know him like this: Mr Oizo "Flat beat" official video directed by Quentin Dupieux with Flat Eric
The camera has the same video resolution as my Optio E30 :D Keep up the good work. I'm getting interested in this eRIC chip.
Hi Dave,
Can you do a review on the ERIC RF transceivers?
I'd love to know how it compares to the usual Xbee and nRF24L01.
Camera teardown using your Dremmel!
Do a video for the eRIC please!
"Sorry eRIC, killed ya mate."
Dave, I think you have to charge it to full.
Only US$1043 for a 6" epaper "development" tablet that doesn't work. What a deal. Tear it down.
Also interested in seeing the eRIC modules used.
tern down by hummer
Bastek Master ???
Did you try keeping your finger on it touching for a few seconds?
That's how I understood the message
By the way Dave. Thanks for the "tear down". :)
You should do a super long video about those radio controllers
I guess this is WAY too late now... but I have a use for the displayport to retina driver :D
Eric Wasatonic uploaded it to UA-cam and the Internet Archive: HP Origins
Hello Dave!
I have several broken iPad retina's, and this would be nice use of them! Have you shipped the board yet?
Thanks,
Richard
Finaly a mailbag!! :)
Yes, please do tear down the crappy camera. And as I'm sure others have said, let the tablet charge all the way, and/or try holding your finger on the screen instead of just tapping on it.
Please get deeper into the eric thingie.
I want to see how that piece of sh!t is crafted!
With the good ole Chinese love and care we all have come to know.
Crack the chap camera open. Maybe compare it with a better one.
HP Origins - "Only goes for 26 minutes unfortunately" - That crazy aussie guy
The teardown for the camera should be you throwing it on the ground.
0:23 well finally open some packages already
Hey! GET A TEARDOWN OF THAT EINK THING AFTER YOU TEST IF IT'S WATERPROOF!
I vote for POS Camera teardown.
44:40 What's the name of those spring pcb sockets?, i can't find it on my suppliers because I don't have the name... Any help please? :)
Post guy delivered me a package while I was watching this.
