  • Our first trials event .
    This was our first time at a trial’s event. It was held by Vale of towy mcc and they couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we only had one bike so instead of going around 4 times each we did 2 each so we finished the same time as everyone else. I only had 1 dab the first time around but my confidence got the better of me and I made a couple of mistakes 2nd go. Joe has decided he needs to work on his tight turns a bit more but we both really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one! 🙂

    I think you did awesome! I'm just starting out at 59 years old and it's very hard to find events in the US. The nearest club who holds events is 4 hours away. It's all about motocross over here. I wish trials would catch on. I have a Gas Gas TXT 300 (a way too big bike for me at 139 pounds) but I got a great deal on it. I'm thinking about practicing static balance and tight figure 8 turns on it then hopefully trade for a Beta EVO 200. Even the trials motorcycles are extremely hard to find here. Well I hope your doing good 👍

      Thanks, we have the same problem here in West wales. No events close to us so mainly just messing about in the garden. Well done for taking it up, it’s great fun and amazing how quickly you improve. Static balance seems to be the key to everything. If you’re struggling to start with let your tyres down. Makes it so much easier and helps to build confidence! Good luck 🙂

    Congrats to both of you! Now that you've been to an event, you can set up some practice cones and obstacles in that large back yard you have, to mimic an event. Joe, you'll be surprised how much fun you can have simply navigating around 10-12 cones. Once you are cleaning what you set up, change them around or make the turns tighter. Mastering tight turns will accelerate your riding skills a lot. Again nice job!

      Thanks. Yeah we need to get some cones and flags, we’ve got plenty of space so no excuse for not practicing! Will definitely do what you’ve said. Looking forward to the next event but struggling to find anything local.

    Don't be discouraged Joe. It takes time. You've got bent knees constantly which will stress your muscles. A lesson, just one, might help your confidence and enjoyment. Good luck.

      Ok thanks for the advice. I found it harder than I thought it would be, but I’ve been practicing at home doing slow full lock turns and also on a balance beam so hopefully that should make a difference next time. I’m still really enjoying it though and can see some improvement!

    Good for you for doing this. Trials is not an easy sport to master, but the people are awesome, the bikes are cool and it's a lot of fun. 👍

      Thanks Jack, we had no idea what we were doing but everyone was really helpful and friendly and we had a great day, we’ve been practicing in the garden ready for next time but struggling to find events near us to enter. Hopefully something will turn up soon. 🙂

      @@crashbangbikers where are you based out of ?? you made a great start, its not easy :) i've been riding for forty years , still enjoy it , still get a buzz, still riding expert, which i never thought that would be the case !!! i used to live in the UK, now in eastern Canada, trials people are the best there are , wherever you are

      I’m in West Wales a little place called Cenarth, you might’ve heard of it. Riding expert, well done can’t see we’ll ever get to that level, I’d just like to get past the novice category, but I think that might take a while. When I was a kid I used to watch junior kickstart and always wanted to do it, 40 years later and finally living the dream! 😂

      @@crashbangbikers wow junior kickstart that's going back some !! I rode that in '81 I think, knocked out in the first round !!! I used to ride at abergaveny , sorry can't remember how to spell it and Canadian spell checkers has no clue !!! They had some great trials back in the day. Everyone has to start somewhere, we we're all beginners once. Get the basics, the complicated stuff comes later, from what I watched you've made an awesome start. Feet up, look forward to the next video , cheers 👍

    Just bought my first trials bike at 50 , a lot to learn but looking forward to it ,your vids are really good keep them coming.Question when you ride up to a log let’s say you compress suspension then on rebound just blip the throttle or do you use clutch as well

    • @crashbangbikers
      @crashbangbikers  5 місяців тому +2

      Hi and thanks very much. As you can see I’m no expert by a long way but I use the clutch to pop the front wheel up to the log then just blip the throttle for the next bit. Just make sure the clutch is always covered in case anything goes wrong. You’ll love the bike it’s so much fun! I’m looking to upgrade my bike soon and hopefully take part in some events as soon as I can find some.

      I really fancy a montesa 300rr probably way to much bike for me but I saw a guy riding one and it sounded awesome. Some of the Tony bou videos are incredible. I’m based cenarth west wales, you? Do you know you can start in 2nd or even third sometimes?

      @@crashbangbikers yea I went for a 300 Sherco 2017 it was the price for me I had a limit of 2k as my first trials bike ,a chap I know in expert class swears by the beta 300 ,just out of my price range I know what you mean about the sound they sound lovely I’d love one of the vertigo’s but there well out the price range.I live in south Gloucestershire went to watch a classic trial the other day which was good because you could ride modern as over 50 so joined the club , they do a ride every month and in the summer they have practice evenings so will look forward to that.I bet it’s nerve racking doing you first trial

      It was horrendous. 2 of us sharing a bike not knowing a thing but everyone was really friendly. I just need to find a local club. As far as I know my nearest is an 90min drive each way. Keep me updated with how you get on. 🙂
