Sweden hasn't been at war for just over 200 years (1814). The main problem with the Bandkanon was that due to it's high weight, few bridges could support its weight. Edit: In a country riddled with rivers, being able to cross most bridges is vital.
@@turbomanmechachrist It's a lot of work to have engineers build new mobile bridges every time a river needs to be crossed. Especially in a country like Sweden which is riddled with rivers, many of them quite large.
Well, no true tank development in Sweden right now, but we do produce one of the world's best IFV:s, the CV90, and cutting edge self propelled artillery in the form of the Archer system.
Well, Sweden doesn't really need weapons that badly, but the ones you guys have are all amazing! I love the AK5C, the Archer SPG and the CV-90 are amazing vehicles! So good that poland kinda stole your CV-90. Oops. Though don't forget that Sweden made stuff like the S-Tank, that was quite the ingenious thing.
Yougotnomilk Arty? When I said Archer SPG I didn't refer to one in WoT, I don't evem remember if there even is an arty called that in the game. We we're talking about a modern artillery system.
I remember getting a tour of an Archer while I was serving in the Norwegian Artillery in 2012. Far as I know, it's more or less cancelled for anyone but Sweden now, but I never heard of your CV-90 development being put down. Far as I know, you guys are still improving on it, cus Norway has ordered some of it for ourselves.
Yougotnomilk I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing like "point and click" when you're operating a modern artillery system. I was trained as a crew chief on a Bandkanon 1C just a few years before it was removed from service. And even tho I'm not actively servicing within the artillery anymore, some of my old friends from the time still do and the things they've told me about the Archer system is goddamn impressive. One of my old friends recently visited BAE systems in the UK during development trials of the upgraded version of the M777 and he laughingly told me about the incredible poor performance of the gun compared to the Archer system. In his words: "The M777 is a cheap fake antique. Made to look modern, not to perform in a modern way."
You did not mention that the Strv 103 was rumoured to be able to fire mini Nukes. And they did develop a remote controlled version of it, a drone tank in the early 90`s
Sweden hasn´t been directly involved in war for over 200 years. Now Sweden buy the best stuff and makes them even better instead, but they have developed other vehicles on sea, land and air like the HMS Visby-class stealth cruisers and soon the epic A26 submarine, Archer artillery unit & JAS 39 Gripen etc.
Sweden regards the concept of a tank obsolete in the future battle. Instead we have light APC:s in the CV 90, and use either infantry or air-power if we need to fight a tank. SAAB has excellent weapon systems that even can be broken down to a crew of 2, and capable to kill tanks without being detected.

""Swedish tank building doesn't exist today." Just you wait. One day we will build the Stridsvagn Super S! It should have all the high tech features of the Strv S, but with the best armour and weaponry available. Every available defence mechanism, such as optical camouflage and those things that shoot down RPGs. The very best anti-tank ammunition. Cutting edge combat surveillance and command interfacing technology. And it should be able to drive with its road wheels so as to not be handicapped by having its tracks shot off. You'll see. Swedish tank building will return to, and surpass, its former glory!
For the love of all tanks, it is not pronounced "stridswagEn" because that's German. There is no "E" there! It should be "stridsvaGN." Remove the 'E'. Everyone everywhere does this mistake!
When you speak/pronounced it, it is the same, there is no really a difference in pronunciation in a real conversation. I have yet to hear my Swedish friend pronounce it differently.
So you are telling me that I, as a Swede, don't know how to pronounce the word and can't tell that there is a difference? :p When you pronounce the letter 'N' in English, you say it as "en." In the pronunciation of "vagn" you never pronounce any form of 'e.' It is hard to describe the difference any better than that by text. It's like cutting the character 'N' in half and pronouncing only the second half. In German it is "wagen" while in Swedish it is "vagn."
Maybe. Or maybe you pay too much attention to it. Like I said, i still have to hear my friend from Sweden pronounce it like you suggest. I even showed him this comment and he laughed. He said that technically you are correct but in real word conversation people pronounce it like germans do and nobody really pay attention to that, mostly because people speak fast and do not pay attention to it. And even Germans pronounce it sometimes as Wagn which is how majority of germans say it, Germans sometimes do not say E in words that end with -EN. So at the end, there is no really a "correct" way in real life conversation. My friend said that people in south Sweden tend to speak more german-like than those in north Sweden.
What you're saying is mind-boggling to me because I am a native Swede and know for a fact that it isn't pronounced that way -- ever -- not anywhere. I don't think this friend of yours is really grasping what I'm talking about. But whatever. I have no patience for an argument about it. You have a good day. :)
What do you mean "not anymore"? Like what, did you kill of all people who pronounce it like that? Last time I was in south Sweden pretty much everybody spoke German with me and I could even unterstand some Swedes because of the way they pronounce some words, like Kranvagn = Kranwagn = Kranwagen. No difference with a lot of words. And my friend can actually confirm this so no idea what you understood with my last comment, read it again.

Thanks for uploading, really interesting video!
For the last 200 years they haven't been in war, other than that it's been limited to volunteers, and limited deployments around the world.
The S tank is probably my favorite tank of all time.
And to think they did all that with just a pair of Allen wrenches.
So....where is my Swedish SPG in WoT? ☺
