Alex Barros was an underrated rider. Shame he never reached the success heights of his contemporaries like Biaggi and Rossi.
And that Black and white west honda pons was a thing of beauty 💯
I think he won many races at the end of that year, once he got the 990cc bike to ride.
@@NathanBoardman19yes.. Alex Barros in the last 3 races this year, a honda gave him a 4 stroke bike.. and then he won 2 races. He even won a small world championship in the last 4 races, proposed by Valentino Rossi
@@JefersonRibeiro2007 Barros was one of my faves! That’s a nice story about the little championship... I didn’t know that
@@NathanBoardman19 Unfortunately, time is erasing small but beautiful stories about motorcycling.. but take a look at this interview (it's in Portuguese.. but I think it can be translated..) gabriellima88.wordpress.com/2017/11/03/15-anos-barros-fala-sobre-mundialito-com-rossi-e-temporada-de-2002/
Barros is definitely slept on but I'm not sure why. Watch old races on UA-cam sometime and his name is always on the grid. You don't stay in MotoGP that long if you're not world class. He was one of those guys that when he was on he was very difficult to beat even for champions. The race at Assen this same year was downright impressive. He went from 5th to 1st in a lap passing Ukawa, Biaggi, Rossi, and Kenny Roberts on the way and started pulling away immediately. Only Rossi stayed with him on a more powerful bike.
One of the biggest heartbreaks in MotoGP history!
Yeah,Alex Barros or Olivier Jacque could have won
This was a turning point towards the end for both men's careers. Poor Olivier.
@@joaopires1761 For Jacque, yes. But Barros still was a top rider for a few more years
@@lluiscarlesmartinez2486 Yep - I was there in Estoril and watched him win in 2005! But he never again had that run of 4 consecutive podiums w/ 2 wins like he had in 2002. It didn't go downhill immediately, but he was never that good again. In fact, that wet victory in Estoril was the only time he won again.
@@joaopires1761 At 2003 Barros went to Yamaha. The M1 was hard to ride as Desmosedici would be years later. By the midle of the season, Yamaha knew about the deterioration of the relationship between Rossi e Honda and, saving money for the 2004 season, just stoped to develop the bike that year. Barros went down with the bike.
not a rossi fan but i respect him. looking at rossi again, over the course of many years he always been changing his riding style.
even on the new tech bikes in 2020-21. he lean lower than he ever did for his career
even tho winglets, tech and aero does make the bike overall more stable and faster.
it rob us of actions.
following bike through corners was never a disadvantage but it is now, dirty air generated by lead rider winglets and aero then it creates turbulence to the chasing riders etc and so much more factors.
wsbk is my current favorite motobike racing.
I was there, on the exit of turn one. I was praying for a 2 stroke victory. Geez I miss them
2 tempos a melhor
Kato and Abe no longer with us R.I.P.
finally the 2002 season, i love it i hope more uploaded please
豪華過ぎるな。この時代は。
2000年初めのこの光景はオールスター戦。
Man i still miss seeing Kato ride.
Kato? Did he crash out?
ua-cam.com/video/z0cvw7r7ScU/v-deo.html
I'm with you....
He was special
If he liked the bike in 250's he was unbeatable.
I am sure he would have beaten Rossi once.
And Chili in SBK.
Kato was my favorite and will always be ❤️ #74 forever 🙏 also rip Abe, insanely rider as well. Both insane as wild cards before joining full time
I was a big fan of Alex Barros back in the day... Still I am, indeed. This race did broke my heart but still a performance masterpiece by the 2Ts. Love that!
I remember being 9-years old and literally devastated when Barros crashed into Jacques with only a few laps remaining. I was a big fan of Jacques since the 2000 250 c.c. season when he beat Nakano with half a tyre distance in the final race of the season in Philip Island to win the championship. I was so excited when he got pole and remained competitive during the race - even after Rossi overtook both him and Barros, they managed to pull it back. Sadly, that last two-stroke win just wasn't meant to be.
I still remember watching this on ANTV. Greetings from Indonesia.
2002 is great season, cause battle between 4T and 2T engine
Es precioso ver esta carrera con esas dos tecnologías
Don’t for get the add the CC different. No replacement for displacement.
The real moto gp
WHAT A RACEEEE, CRAZYYYY
Lets go back to this wonderful bikes! Real MotoGP!
This season, there was a huge gap between the 500cc 2-stroke and the 4-stroke 900cc. And Alex Barros wanted to make his name in history as the last winner in the 500cc 2-stroke. He knew it would be the last chance (because the German circuit was very tight). He just didn't count on the surprising Olivier Jacque who, until that weekend, hadn't done much of the season. So if it wasn't him, Alex.. it wouldn't be anyone else.. motogp stuff
This season?????? It was the first ever season with 4strokes. Also Barros did a superretarded idiot move and took the 2 2strokes out of the match, way to go Idiot-Barros....
500cc two strokes were incredible machines, it took a 2/1 displacement advantage to render them obsolete against the four strokes [and even then, they still competed hard with good riders aboard]
I love MotoGP season 2002-2003 because Rossi is join to Repsol Honda Team. Please upload again, thanks.
Buena carrera en la cual hay buen desempeño por Valentino Rossi!
Gracias por enviarme estas formidables carreras de motogp!
!Saludos desde México 🇲🇽!

Interesting year this with 500cc 2 strokes and 990cc 4 strokes in the same field.

Alex Barros the best!!!
Olivier Jacque vs Alex Barros, one of clash in #Gp500 mixs #motoGp era
hanya alex dan rossi yang punya kamera di motor.!!! maret 2024
Vale♡
If you carefully analyze Barros history book he was given many good chances to succeed and went through many top good teams partnering in the same teams with Kevin Shwantz, Eddie Lawson, Mamola, Capirossi, etc. But he was very inconsistent. Once in a while he would do a great race but then mostly average results. To be a world champ or close to that you have to be very consistent.
Самый великий на все времена!!! Валееееееее
por talento puro y correr rápido con cualquier moto es STONER
Next one please Assen 2006 (Hayden wins over Colin Edwards), or Assen 2015 (last chicane collision Rossi-Marquez)
Moto GP sebelum adanya tehnologi yang maju sangatlah seru
mirip banget sama game nya "MotoGP2"
50:16 Viegas strutted his stuff a lot less back then, haha.

Max , sempre ad alti livelli per tanti , un vero campione !!!
Iniziato dal nulla ...
Complimenti ❤
Limit the four strokes to the same RPM as the two strokes, twice the cc’s and 50% more Rpm, what’s next, give the four strokes nitro.
I like the laugh when 2 strokes got crashed. 😂
The four strokes had to have nearly the double the engine size and more cylinders to beat the two strokes, if they had same size engines the two strokes would have been so much faster so in my opinion not very fair and shouldn't have had size bikes racing, it reminds me of the old 1990 world superbikes as Ducati was allowed to use 1000 cc bikes against Japanese 750s and shouldn't have been allowed to happen but that's history for you
2stroke vs 4stroke
2 stroke vs 4stroke
Zaman MotoGP 3 PS 2
I didn’t know such a many Japanese riders had belonged to MotoGP…
There's some others that raced around this time, but not in 2002. Like Okada, Tamada, Aoyama, Takahashi...
@@joaopires1761 I wouldn't put Aoyama with this generation of Japanese riders. He came after all of these guys left the Premier Class.
@@chamindujanith6337 Yeah I hesitated a bit before adding both Aoyama and Takahashi, who came a bit later. But it was still the 00's.
And AH! In the premier class around the late 90s / early 00s there was also poor Takuma Aoki and Shinichi Ito.
@@joaopires1761 A more accurate name would have been Noriyuki Haga. Of course he is known for his WSBK exploits but had a couple of full-seasons in MotoGP getting a podium. Nakagami and Aoyama are in a different generation to these guys. Ai Ogura in another different generation.
Who do you think were developing them in Japan behind closed doors
♌💯🐜 genda
I heard the layout was different in 02 but it looks the same to me
Castrol Omega was a double right hander (2001-2002) before it was modified into a long hairpin so it's different.
First views....i think some glitches in Uthoob V.count🤣🤣

Va esta carrera Rossi la ganó como quiso iba con la V5 que era superior a todas las MotoGP y ya ni te cuento a las 500 2 tiempos
What’ far’ MOTO GP
Marques masih PAUD
this is pure racing, just man and machine😍🙌. nowday motogp with their weird winglet and fu**ing electronic are really boring to watch, less and less overtake in every race🥱
This was NEVER a "fair" fight. They did the same thing in motogp that they did in motocross and supercross. They allowed massive displacement four strokes to compete against 2 strokes with only half the displacement and then the industry pretended like it was some kind of fair fight and even the announcers were in on it but what's done is done and they took away from us these super efficient power makers that were cheap and easy to maintain! SO SAD
Not only that but for the 2002 season new rules applied to motogp 2 strokes. They had to weigh more, burn less fuel and sound less on the Db meter than the 2001 2 strokes. And of course all the good riders switch to 4 strokes. But still with all these restrictions they manage to almost win a race, amazing! And lets not forget the 1991 rule of minimum weight change for the 500s (from 115 to 135kg) and the 1997 rule that only allowed unleaded gas...
yes... kan en ve nasat hunlai. Lung a leng hlemai
is rossi scared of speed because he seems slower than the 500cc bikes in the straight , is rossi not using the full power or what
From behind valentino rossi👍👍👍
Ducati 4 tak skr pasti keok lawan dua tak gp500😂
