For about 30 seconds, when he mentioned "pounds", (money), I thought he was talking about the weight of the table. Yea, my adult size could hammer on a 350lb table. :)

Interesting, that french made Bonzini "luxury table". It must have "telescopic rods", as the end of your opponents rods do not stick out at you from your side of the table, (only your 4 handles on your side of the table). "Luxury" or not, it better be engineered and manufactured well for the rough way many play. If it works with the abuse, cool. Interesting design, but I did like to try to use my upper wrist to pressure my opponents bar end if I had the chance and needed to, when he was not looking. I would just bump my 5 man wrist on his 3 man bar with out even letting go of my handle. :)

Pro's may be used to a heavier rod, but light is the way to go, so get used to telescopic if they hold up. The ball is "light". It does not need a heavy rod, even if you are used to the weight.

The heavier the rod, the more it hinders your direction changes. You would have to get used to the lighter rod, but you can find faster direction changes, or just use a lighter touch for the light ball that takes very little energy to change direction. "tap tap bang!

Telescopic rods are an excellent feature with kids.. they play wild and can get ugly injured

I'm in the US and I played with tornados, bonzinis and Janus... bonzini gives a better play while using cork balls. tornados are too fast and feel cheap. Janus are cool, way too expensive and the players have 2 legs.
