With Hydro, I could see some ways to differentiate him from Rain without making him a cyborg. For the first thing, make his ninja outfit completely distinct from the usual MK Ninja look. From the comic, he looked like a traditional looking ninja as opposed to what MK ninjas usually look like so go with that to set him apart from Sub-Zero. As for his water abilities, keep them but make it unique where he has more complete control over water, capable of either boiling it or freezing it, allowing him to be like a mix of Rain and Sub-Zero with some possibilities of pretty graphic deaths. Imagine a fatality where he boils someone alive, watching the flesh cook off their bones or cutting them open to make contact with their blood, freezing it as you watch ice spikes pop out of their flesh before they fall over and shatter. I think it could work, like a really violent Water Bender and you can focus more on Rain's weather control with lightning, tornadoes and stuff. I don't know, would be cool to see him as a human if he actually ends up in a game as opposed to a cyborg, we have enough of Sub-Zero's friends being corrupted and transformed, lets have one of them stay human. Monster would also be cool since he was the actual champion before Scorpion so it makes me wonder what his deal was, maybe he was similar to Scorpion, a warrior from the Nether-Realm that the Elder Gods promised to release him from if he did their bidding, could be what inspired them to go with Scorpion after he was defeated.
You know, it reminds me of something I thought about Kobra when I heard people complaining about him. "He's just a Ken reskin!" "His moves only reference other fighting games!" How cool would it be if Cole Young was actually Kobra? They both use sticks and have fire-based moves. And making Kobra related to Scorpion somehow would be neat and flesh him out more.
This sounds like what would happen if you took Corbata from that thumb wrestling cartoon that used to air in the mid 2000s and turned him into an actual threat of a bad guy. I love everything about this! Sorry for the back-handed compliment.
I personally see Kobra's retcon in accordance with his original backstory. A sadistic young man who joins a group of anarchists secretly sponsored by Black Dragon to destabilize political situation. He is a decent fighter, but his fiery moves are replaced with Molotovs, he still wields machete, brass knuckles and maybe a handgun (even though too many characters use guns these days). That guy can be recruited to Black Dragon later on and can become a personal enemy of Stryker. He lacks his Ken-like hairstyle, as his head is probably shaved, and he wears a hood, much like in his alternative outfit. His looks from Snowblind are cool as well.
I wish Tanya acting more like Ruby from the cartoon. I loved her infiltrating the good guys as a civilian to wreck things. This would fit perfectly with Tanya's status as a spy.
@@ghostrouxinol6169 my only real complaints are that Ermac's coolest design is only used for his corpse in the Krypt and MK11 Skarlet doesn't really have much ninja stuff in her design or moveset (i.e the kunai she used in MK9) anymore. But she's still really cool in that game and I love her voicework, and I was just happy to get her back since I'd wanted to see more of her after 9.
@@kapkant6197 I mean Female Ninjas barely have any Ninja Elements. Kitana and Mileena have some connection while Jade acts more like Knight or Bodyguard. Tanya is just trickster/witch.
@@ghostrouxinol6169 MK9 Skarlet was actually the most ninja like of all the women in terms of moveset and weapons is what I meant, that's why I liked her in that. Still really fond of the MK11 version though just would've liked to see the nomad version be the present day Skarlet and a ninja Skarlet be a past version.
Khrome is one of the coolest concept ideas though. He could have powers similar to the T-1000 where his arms could turn into a variety of different metallic weapons. There's a lot of room there for very creative moves.
Belokk is the biggest longshot since he wasn't even developed by Midway, he was developed by Eurocom when they were hired to port MK4 to the Dreamcast, and they were promptly told to stop because Midway didn't want another company owning mortal kombat characters. I don't think he's seen as favourably by Ed Boon etc. as actual in house character concepts they once considered. I'd like a Belokk appearance, but really I just want more lore about the netherrealm, what it was like before Shinnok took over and so on.
Belokk would be a new breath of fresh air for villains in the series that isn't Serious Hero Fodder IE Reptile/Baraka/Kano. With the right efforts of strengthening his abilities and a unique background/character on himself, he'd be a great brand new character I'd be happy with.
@@C0DYM4N99 In a new timeline there's no reason even Baraka couldn't be a heavy hitter this time around. His design is very archetypically mortal kombat, there's a reason they put him on the poster for deception. If Liu Kang can just be a guy so good at kung fu he can punch out gods and elder gods, and Johnny Cage can be descended from a mediterranean war cult, then Baraka can get a push. I'd like to see him as a reverse Liu Kang, underdog from the disrespected Tarkatan race who surprise beats the Great Kung Lao after 9 straight victories, flies under God Liu Kangs radar because he's worried about Goro. Baraka as unexpected plan wrecker suits his vibe. If they wanted to they could take it as far as guy who is willing to wreck the universe until it has to start again because he's mad that the literal god of time turns out to have a bias towards making his race be one of the losers of history for something that happened in another timeline. I'd like to see Belokk but if he's just the new D'vorah where he's wiping people out to build cred without the proper build it'd suck, especially when MK has the deepest roster in fighting games to call on. What the villains of MK are lacking is build, the characters themselves are pretty cool. Kano routinely steals the scene to become a fan favourite in multiple forms of media, and Reptile is a dinosaur who is also a ninja. They all have potential.
I think out of all the characters fans manifested, Skarlet & Ermac(& Rain if he counts) are about the only ones that fit in seamlessly. Despite not being in universe originally. I certainly think a cap should've been put on this kind of thing a long time ago though.
Also Idk how hype things were for Skarlet between MK2 rumors & her MK9 debut, but the last couple of years, I've seen more people piss & moan about her being included or her existing period than not. Which I find odd.
"Rain was introduced and given and given aquamancy making Hydro redundant". That is entirely true.... *UNLESS* by oh who knows why NRS made a game featuring a NEW ERA with a "RAIN" that is more of a water mage zoner rather than a water ninja.
Khrome getting his own banner in MKX was already crazy enough, he may deserve a special mention since he got acknowledged in the game even if he wasn't actually included as a fighter. On a different note, it feels like that one Hydro reference is implying that's the name of the God of Water, or is it just me?
I always loved the game's long history of rumoured characters and the devs bringing many of them to life. I still wish for Hydro and Hornbuckle to get some time in the spotlight... and for Tremor to return.
Mk conquest, the wasted potential of not only the best sequel/prequel series of the original mortal kombat movie, but a massively underrated adaptation of a video game franchise that although not one to one faithful, had far more respect and care put into it that wb and nrs couldn't be bothered to do. Would love 4th snake to either give a review or a wasted plotential of conquest as it could be used for the potential mk12 if it is indeed a prequel game staring the great Kung lao
I'll cross my fingers for a pink male ninja named Floyd. Fans have said Ed Boon himself wanted to make this character happen and I'm really curious as to how a playstyle of such a ninja would be.
Fan requested characters are one thing, but it can’t be the days of rumored phenomenons. A time where there were no dataminers. Just word of mouth at the school yard. Still, great to see MK giving fans what they want and more.
Not a bad idea. Although it could be seen as a bit of stereotyping the looks of gay people. But perhaps I'm seeing a bit too deep into this. Plus, hey, let's have the entire ninja pallette swap, including a white ninja.
@@vaggos2003 As long as he’s a cool character and/or plays well I don’t think it hurt if the pink ninja “the gay one”. Plus my as well cover ever basic color. ;)

I'll say, I don't think redundancy will stop Hydro from making it into the game eventually. I mean, Sub-Zero and Frost had the same powers and different movesets when the latter made her debut, Kira had similar powers to Sonya, but both shared a roster. If Netherrealm is creative enough, they can make Hydro and Rain feel distinct, maybe have Rain be more weather-oriented and Hydro be more like a specific waterbender. But if we're gonna have a silly addition, Khrome wouldn't be so bad, I know it has dumb origins, but lets be real, isn't that literally what Ermac, Rain, Meat and Skarlet had before making their way into the roster?
honesty i feel he should be a full cyborg ninja character mainly because Cyborg Ninjas are underused story wise and their potential wasted. it would nice to have 3rd cyborg character like Sketor/Cyrax that is not another version of existing characters (Sub zero/Smoke/Frost)
I'd be okay with giving Khrome a shot if the guy who came up with him wasn't a racist lunatic who kept harassing Netherrealm to include him and was agressive to any fan who disagreed with him
@@aarononeil9832 I mean, you do know that Khrome wasn't created by "a guy", right? It was supposed to be a one-off statue of UMK3 Smoke, but something went wrong with his arms and they looked like a gray version of Sub-Zero's ice hands, as if the guy had metal arms. It wasn't created by anyone specifically, the community just enjoyed the idea of a ninja with powers similar to T-1000.
Hydro and Khrome should be legit characters for the games making them canon Mortal Kombat has a lot of unique characters in their media Street Fighter made Decapre an official character with a legit story she existed in the games as one of Bison 12 dolls but she mostly was explored in the UDON comics at Capcom did that but MK should take a character from their comics or animated show and make them canon.
A kinda cool addition across MK is how the devs may reference original plans or fan-made concepts for characters. -Ermac's appearances in the Wu Shi Academy in Shaolin Monks and the MK1 tournament in MK9 are a callback/canonization to Ermac's rumored origins in MK1. And yes, Ermac's rumors were also called back in MK2. (You can headcanon that the reason Jade wasn't aware of Ermac in MK9 was because of Ermac's creation being a super secret operation until the time of his completion, especially when considering the MK9 retcon of Ermac's origin.) You could interpret Ermac's non-canon side mission in Shaolin as a way for the writers to confirm Ermac's presense in MK1 as non-canon and maybe even non-canon for Shaolin Monks' story, especially considering how if I remember correctly the team stated that all the Fatalities in the game were non-canon (despite how little sense that makes). -Noob from MK9 and onwards creates shadow clones as a reference to him originally being a palette swap of Kano and Scorpion, and maybe even because of having Sub-Zero's Fatality and Reiko's moveset in MK4. -Scorpion has an MK11 Reptile skin, due to Reptile in MK1 being a Scorpion pallette swap. -Mileena has an intro with Erron that suggests she got into the game because of fan outcry. OK, that one actually wasn't cool, like not at all. -It is possibly a stretch, but an intro Skarlet has with Rain that suggests that Skarlet has Edenian blood inside her and maybe that whole being Shao Kahn's daughter could both be interpreted as a callback/canonization of Skarlet's rumored origin as a Kitana reskin. -Skarlet making cameos in the MK9 story mode canonises/calls back to her rumored origins. She also appears in the MK1 version as well, despite her rumored origin being in MK2, but that can be forgiven due to Kitana now existing in that part of the story as well. Also, congrats to Skarlet's trailer and bio presenting a backstory for her that explained well why she wasn't involved in the original story. -In Noob's MK9 ending, Noob and Havik come to an understanding, which is a callback to Havik's original concept being inspired by Noob.
Huh. I never knew that Rain was originally just meant to be a tease instead of an actual character. Somehow that makes his almost nonexistent character development sadly approriate. I also have never heard of Khrome or any of the unused demons, but that's far less surprising to me.
I absolutely get why people don't like or want Khrome, but honestly the moveset potential just sounds too cool for me. Modern MK has always had this obsession with pushing its tech and visuals over being... good? and if that's REALLY the direction they want to go, actually committing to that liquid metal visual would be really impressive. That being said it wouldn't have to SPECIFICALLY be "Khrome the silver ninja" to accomplish this, just the powers in general would really interest me.
It's really cool with the developers used to do like in the cases of Ermac, meat, and blaze and even Skarlet I also like tremors inclusion in MKX even if the design is kind of lame in my opinion hopefully with the appearance of top-tier character no-face in that snowblind movie perhaps an mk12 will get hydro but I'm personally hoping we finally get some Canon appearances of characters from The conquest show
Holy crap I totally forgot about khrome need a version of him back in the day and mka even thought up a backstory and everything would be cool to see him in the game but probably never going to happen the possibility are interesting
Honestly, since Skarlet debut in MK9 and Tremor appeared in MKX. I was expecting them to announce Hornbuckle in MK11 and was a little surprised that that entry didn't receive a similar Kharacter.
I think hydro would be a cool addition. He could have control of water based weather so rain, rainbows, hurricanes etc it’d set up a funny dynamic between him and rain as their names correspond to the others powers but could also open up some unique abilities like maybe smoking out your screen so the other player can’t see the health bars or something like that
Now lets be serious for a second Khrome, while not the best name, is a fantastic concept. A ninja that can manipulate liquid metal for his attacks? MK's very own T1000! But perhaps change his name to something cooler... like Metallica lol
bruh khrome getting in would be so funny and that's reason enough for mk fans to put him next to random guest fighters and mk1 and 2 characters when asking ed for dlc (oh and dont forget ed's location we cant forget that)
At this point I have these dumb suggestions for some ninjas to be playable - Khrome - Hydro - Komodai - Krypt Guy not really a ninja but definitely has an aesthetic None of this will happen but a man can dream Also Phlox the plant ninja/ Pink ninja
The biggest problem with the mk tournament was we never got to see the Art leans get killed off so in my head cannon Art and other acclaimed martial artist whose names are mk mixes like Eddie Tobias got murked by the bad guys and ninjas during mk one
I really hope the next game builds off of the Lao ending. Nether realm won’t do this though, because people will cry if each game doesn’t have the same roster. Something new and risky would be nice.
I'd like to see Art Lean from the 1995 movie as a character. Art was simply a fighter in the tournament, which sounds boring at first thought. But that means his fighting style and background in game could be anything. Plus he managed to get some hits in on Goro, so that has to count for something. Also for Meat's backstory they say he is a failed experiment from the Flesh Pits. I wanna se what Meat would've been had the experiment been a success.
About Hydro, I really like an interpretation from one rom hack where hydro is a Sektor-like cyborg, but very rusty and unstable and he is covered in electricity all the time. I feel this could be an interesting direction for the character if he gets. And In order to also tackle the human problem, maybe making a cyborg(DC)-like cyborg or doing that, but he is also a zombie(like Deception Lui Kang), so that could play in to the rustiness of robotic parts and in to instability. I believe that Hydro has a lot of interesting stuff going for him that allow him to become a more unique character without taking away Rain's spotlight as a water-bender
I mean.. hydro and rain can still be in the same game and just have hydro use water in different creative ways than rain but seeing how lackluster netherrealm been treating the MK franchise I doubt it
I do hope Hydro appears, with his moveset differing from Rain through how their aquamancy works. Rain can use his abilities to trap people in bubbles and teleport, whilst Hydro can use his abilities to freeze and boil water.
I would love to see Hydro as a borg to replace cyber sub and smoke in the new timeline. Even if just as a Kameo. He could be cool and very unique. Belokk too

Jesus Christ. That Jacqui roast got me. I CANNOT stop laughing.
Personally, I want to know more about "Death Knight", the guy that the beetle temple stage was made for in Deception.
I wish Tanya acting more like Ruby from the cartoon. I loved her infiltrating the good guys as a civilian to wreck things. This would fit perfectly with Tanya's status as a spy.
Khrome and Floyd's time is coming. It is their destiny.
Every day I thank the sorcerers who manifested Ermac and Skarlet since they are my favourite ninjas
They are pretty cool characters. Skarlet and Ermac having power of Souls and Blood. Make them very unique from other ninjas.
Tremor's metallic variation is probably the closest we'll get to a Khrome right now.
@@iswitchedsidesforthiscat Well with T-1000 coming...
Me personally: I do hope Belokk is in the next MK. Even if he's just a boss, It would be friggin awesome.
I don't know why but when you said "God or Khrome!"I LOLed!!
It was an april fools joke, khromw doesn't exist
There are several Soul Calibur characters that still haven’t been made playable, such as Bangoo and Rothion, and I’m extremely surprised.
Don't forget Siro 😆
I'll cross my fingers for a pink male ninja named Floyd. Fans have said Ed Boon himself wanted to make this character happen and I'm really curious as to how a playstyle of such a ninja would be.
His abilities could Probably be plant based like Poison ivy
Or could be also Phlox
Mark my words Hydro and Khrome will be in the MK sequel, and the writers will claim “Oh Well We had to put them in due to fan demand!” 😂😂
If you are right I’ll buy you a beer
@@WSendamThank You Good Sir!
Hopefully
There has never been a white ninja. When I read the MKX comics I wanted them to adapt Fox into a playable dlc character as the first ever white ninja.
Fan requested characters are one thing, but it can’t be the days of rumored phenomenons. A time where there were no dataminers. Just word of mouth at the school yard. Still, great to see MK giving fans what they want and more.
It’d be kinda neat if the male pink ninja was Kung Jin’s boyfriend.
Plus my as well cover ever basic color. ;)
@@mdxque8393 Phlox apparently that’s what the community calls him the pink ninja it would be awesome to see his powers are pheromones like poison ivy or he can control plants
He may not be real but it would be cool
Gay Peter or big gay Al as a ninja personality would be kinda hilarious
@@mdxque8393True.
I'd totally be down for some random ass character like Asgaarth or Zebron to join the next game's roster
Kira and Sonya only shared a roster because everybody was in Amrageddon
@@98izzark69 The point still stands
honesty i feel he should be a full cyborg ninja character mainly because Cyborg Ninjas are underused story wise and their potential wasted.
it would nice to have 3rd cyborg character like Sketor/Cyrax that is not another version of existing characters (Sub zero/Smoke/Frost)
I’m pretty sure hydro also had ice powers so you could make hydro a combination of sub zero and rain
It's finally time for my man Art Lean to be playable.
Hydro? Yes. Khrome? Considering its creator has grown into a piece of excrement...fat chance.
I would not be surprised if a fan character like Khrome becomes canon
It’s actually fascinating how much MK9 both respects and disrespects the franchise
@@MattSayYay True.
I honestly want a pink male Ninja, pink is my 4th favorite color next to Red, Blue, and Black.
Huh. I never knew that Rain was originally just meant to be a tease instead of an actual character. Somehow that makes his almost nonexistent character development sadly approriate. I also have never heard of Khrome or any of the unused demons, but that's far less surprising to me.
I miss the '90s, the stuff we made up about MK "secrets", when MK3 came out, a friend of mine back then swore he saw someone use Scorpion once.
1:00 Honestly, I’m surprised more arcade games didn’t do that kind of stuff. It’s a simple idea, but probably extremely effective.
I've just recently learned about Khrome and wholeheartedly support the push for him to be in mk12
2:55 iirc the red female ninja is an actual bug contrary to red male ninja who was just a rumor.
Can't wait to see this updated when Nimbus Terrafaux makes it into MK12!
Hey @4thsnake I appreciate you for being critical about the things you like
Honestly, since Skarlet debut in MK9 and Tremor appeared in MKX. I was expecting them to announce Hornbuckle in MK11 and was a little surprised that that entry didn't receive a similar Kharacter.
Well he is basically just lui kang, surprised they didn't give lui kang hornbuckle pallet
@@mnja8662 They could even do a Tekken 3/4 Jin Kazama and give Hornbuckle Liu Kang's pre-Fire God move set.
"If we close our eyes, and believe with all our heart, Boon might make a Pink Male Ninja DLC in MK13!"
Need khrome to be a thing mk universe
I think hydro would be a cool addition. He could have control of water based weather so rain, rainbows, hurricanes etc it’d set up a funny dynamic between him and rain as their names correspond to the others powers but could also open up some unique abilities like maybe smoking out your screen so the other player can’t see the health bars or something like that
I wanna see some 3D Era characters come back
Rip Zombie Liu Kang, the real 🐐 version of him
Somebody had to say it
we all know it's going to be Lucifer from the instruction manual for Mythology: Sub-Zero
5:39 that guy needs to come back he has a sick design.
Now lets be serious for a second Khrome, while not the best name, is a fantastic concept. A ninja that can manipulate liquid metal for his attacks? MK's very own T1000! But perhaps change his name to something cooler... like Metallica lol
Metalika, with a K,
I'm still waiting for Aqua to make his official debut.
Agreed at the end. I hate it that NRS entertains the dumbest ideas from fans. Nintendo held off for a while and then they included Ridley
Of course the next character they add is gonna be the legend, Art Lean.
I still demand Art Lean to be playable in the next game
We need hydro as a new ninja. Idc if it’s just a rain clone, but Tundra, Hydro, and Smoke having a trio is tight
Still wating for hornbuckle to be cannon
Praying with you
bruh khrome getting in would be so funny and that's reason enough for mk fans to put him next to random guest fighters and mk1 and 2 characters when asking ed for dlc (oh and dont forget ed's location we cant forget that)
5:00 Hydro could come back if there's a game that doesn't have Rain. But those are probably slim odds until MK13 at least.
Well his abilities are to control the temperature of water so that’s a plus but most likely unlikely 😅 which is kinda sad Ed won’t do it
At this point I have these dumb suggestions for some ninjas to be playable
- Khrome
- Hydro
- Komodai
- Krypt Guy not really a ninja but definitely has an aesthetic
None of this will happen but a man can dream
Also Phlox the plant ninja/ Pink ninja
That would be Badass
And Wu lae
The biggest problem with the mk tournament was we never got to see the Art leans get killed off so in my head cannon Art and other acclaimed martial artist whose names are mk mixes like Eddie Tobias got murked by the bad guys and ninjas during mk one
3:45 Guess what, in MK1 we are getting a Pink ninja.
3:50 Rain handled it.
...do... do you NOT like Chrome?
Never expected Snake to dislike Google Chrome, you learn something everyday.
Damn!! that Jaqui burn lmao
Hope Tremor returns for MK12
He had a rocky start but I’m glad he’s got some more recognition
My dude, a Sonic or Star Wars Wasted Plotential would work so well.
Funny how The4thSnake thinks just like I do about this MK stuff. Good Video man.
I will continue to wait till the day Khrome becomes a real character.
Khrome is next!
I feel like the Hydro/Rain problem can be avoided by simply making such characters into alternates of each other , a bit like in Injustice 2 .
I hope Tasia from the black dragon gets added somehow to the game.
I'm never gonna get Hornbuckle though :(
I, meanwhile, am waiting for Wu Lae to get a chance.
Toasty guy better be on here or it’s over
I could see Khrome being an early Lin Kuei experiment.
This gives me an idea, I wish that Cyrax, Sektor, Frost, Kano and Sonya were part of the main roster and not cameos in mk1
Bahomet seemed like a cool concept
I mean.. hydro and rain can still be in the same game and just have hydro use water in different creative ways than rain but seeing how lackluster netherrealm been treating the MK franchise I doubt it
What would the pink male Ninja's abilities be? Wood Control. Also if there were to have a rainbow Ninja make him organic Triborg.
Belokk too
5:40 God, I thought I was the only one who remembered that game
Thin air:
Mortal Kombat fans: Ah shit that's a new character!
To make him distinct from rain NRS could give hydro steam powers.
I want hydro became a playable.
