Best thing about this song is that it may help the Metal Church guys get some exposure. Totally robbed of their rightful place next to bigger bands. I give Stone sour props for covering one of my favorite all time songs. Let that shit hit you like a ton of bricks !
It's way past midnight There's a howling wind Oh God what can it be? Something out there evil And it's coming straight for me The house is dark and very cold I know there's no one here Why am I scared to death Just petrified with fear 'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the house 'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the dark The dark When I opened up the door And snapped on the switch The room was filled with light Then something black and very fast Fled upon my sight What I feared most as a child Was the coming of the night Now my horrors have become quite real My nightmares breathe new life 'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the house Yes, I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the dark Dark! What is it in the house That the darkness brings to life? I sense their eyes upon me As I grab a butcher knife Whatever it is that waits for me It hides beneath my bed If I try to sleep tonight By morning I'll be dead! 'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the house Yes, I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin' Of something evil lurking And waiting for me in the dark
God Damn it!!! This is bad ass!! I saw this a while back. I'm a fan of Robert Englund, old school "Freddy Krueger", and new school "Freddy vs Jason". Stone Sour, you guys fucking rock!!! Perfect song!! Sounds great.
There are a lot of people that don't realize that this is a cover song! That being said I think it's awesome of stone sour to cover a Metal Church song! Hopefully it will inspire those who are to young to know about bands like Metal Church, Armored Saint, Death Angel and many more simply because they were underrated bands or they were just overshadowed by bigger bands like Metallica, Slayer! So kids go out and look up these older metal bands that obviously inspired the Slipknots and Stone Sours and many more. And for all you metal elitist's out there if you don't like the cover at least recognize that these bands that do these covers do it because they love the songs and want play them for that reason alone! Remember Am I Evil? Or Garage Days? Think about it !
This sounds nothing like the Metal Church one, but who the fuck cares? They covered one of the most legendary metal bands ever and I personally think Stone Sour did a pretty good job. This is why they are called "covers" after all.
I love thrashing around on my guitar but unbelievably I live in the second biggest town on the Isle of Wight and I can't buy new strings for it anywhere! In my town! So you may be thinking So! But I have to remind you that this is the home of one of,if not the best music Festivals in the UK,Then not forgetting the Bestival another legend in it's own time already! As far as I'm aware Hendrix played his last big gig here back in the day, shortly before he left us to cash in his 27s club ticket! I still find myself thinking he was one of many who had to have sold his soul, to be able to play guitar like that and still not make it past 27? Growing up my brother had an acoustic guitar for years, which I had zero interest in I don't even recall picking it up! Then at 17 I bought a Hendrix album and that was that I have never been without a guitar or 5 at the moment! I am left handed like Jimi but as I knew if I ever came across a guitar in somebody's house 90% of the time it would be a right-handed guitar so I taught myself to play right-handed as I was a complete beginner, so it didn't seem to make much of a difference to me in my mind I thought that being that I am ambidextrous that I can learn right-handed and if I even attempt to play left-handed now it feels so wrong I can hardly make anything that sounds vaguely musical and now that I can't buy a set of new strings it's become impossible, then again I did say that I had five guitars, well I've got three electric guitars two of which need a professional to fix them, and two acoustics which just need new strings to,but I rarely play the acoustics as I love the sound of a howling thrashing, screaming grinding metal guitar! There was a shop in this town well there were a few actually but there was one in particular which was absolutely amazing they had everything in there you could ever want but sadly he retired from the shop to focus on music projects of his own, this wasn't all bad as I I managed to get a guitar which would normally retail at £900,at a price of £600 and a case and other accessories thrown in I have added a photograph of it just in case you're interested although I've posted photos of it before, also it's not how much it costs as some of the cheapest guitars can sound wonderful and the most expensive are shit I do love it, it's like a work of art but it's like having all the most expensive artists tools and not being able to draw anything but a stick man thankfully I have learnt to play quite a few licks and riffs over the years but I have been lazyI am self taught and I cannot read music and not very good at reading guitar tablature also I know various scales and chords which people say wow that sounds great when they ask me what chord is that you're playing and I'm completely clueless oh people say play something I know!do you play requests and I have to say no as if I don't have a copy of the song then I can't recall what chords and what notes are played in the scales during solos. Also the songs that I do remember how to Play without needing the song to play along with are usually by bands like system of a down, slipknot, anthrax,Pantera! And also the fact I have bipolar disorder causes me to play my guitar obsessively for months then suddenly change to something completely different like computer games or pissing around on the computer checking out conspiracy theories on the web! So I'm overdue to get back to the guitar as my neighbour hasn't quite got to the point of murdering me yet, but I'm far more considerate now I don't drink alcohol any more so I don't play heavy-metal to 4 o'clock in the morning in my living room which is directly below his bedroom causing him too often in the past sleep in his bathroom, I once remember I was drunkenly thrashing my guitar with no idea at all just how loud I was playing it so to look up and find a police officer in my living room telling me to turn it down due to complaints from numerous neighbours was a bit of a trip, she said she let herself in because she kept trying to get my attention but the music was far too loud what a weird feeling to be in the zone thrashing out heavy-metal when you look up and see a police officer in your living room that's when I realised it was about 2 AM and I had the volume at about 3 million dB!I think the best thing I should do is just order about 20 sets of strings online! Yes in fact I'm going to do that right now so see you later peeps.
Haha well.. There are actually a few Stone Sour songs that come close or lets say have a similar vibe to this song ... Like .. "Get Inside" Idle hands Tumult This songs are actually heavy for a stone sour song ... Take a listen to them you might like them ..
***** I've said "Corey from Slipknot", because of vocals, which he use on this song. I know that he was with Stone sour before Slipknot. Stone sour is his own band, which he created in 1992. Slipknot was created in 1995, and Corey joined in 1997.
youre an idiot. Stone sour has heavy material too. So in this case, he is Corey Taylor from Stone Sour because he is literally preforming with stone sour. not slipknot.
Jeremy Mckinnons Eyebrows, 1st of all - don't insult me. I definitely don't deserve it. 2nd of all - if you read my previous comments you would know that I meant by "Corey from Slipknot" his vocals. He usually sings in Stone Sour than screams.
***** not at all. on every stone sour album theyre at LEAST 5 songs where corey is screaming. just say hes using heavy vocals lol. sorry for the insult, my bad.
Maybe people think stone sour and slipknot are starting to sound the same is maybe..... The bands both have the same vocalist....... And maybe just maybe they like do sing different stuff.
Does it matter who the fuck they sound like? All I know is Slipknot is amazing and still kicking ass since the 90's. Stone sour is just as amazing! Why... because it's fucking Corey Taylor... no matter if you think Slipknot sounds like they are leaning towards Stone Sour don't fucking listen.. stop comparing and enjoy the music for what it is... And that my friends would be called some kick ass amazing music and talent... Maggot for life
I love Corey, but this version of "the dark" blows, David Wayne has this song on lock down. Corey's voice is way to different for this style music. Bobby Blitz could of pull this off back in the day. All you young metal heads better brush up on your old school roots if you don't know who these guys are.
Michael Moore Oh please. How the fuck is he a metal elitist? He's simply saying the Metal Church version is superior. And it's OBVIOUS that it is. Metal Church will forever be better than this shit band
That's why Metal Church have been pretty much forgotten. i'm not saying they're bad, obviously they were a huge influence to many bands. Corey Taylor alone is superior than them, though.
the original song is so much better than this cover... METAL CHURCH KICK THE STONE SOUR'S ASS... AND SLIPKNOT'S ASS SO!!! before talk about metal listen to albums like hanging in the balance, the dark, metal church or blessing in disguise
Best thing about this song is that it may help the Metal Church guys get some exposure. Totally robbed of their rightful place next to bigger bands. I give Stone sour props for covering one of my favorite all time songs. Let that shit hit you like a ton of bricks !
The video should be called : Corey´s mustache
HA!
just in the movie
LOL HAHHAH
So, people talked about Slipknot becoming Stone Sour.
This sounds more like Stone Sour is slowly turning into Slipknot O.o
this song is no where near sounding like a song slipknot would do
That's why I said, that it sounds like they are turning slowly into slipknot, not that they already are
And thats Why i said it does not "sound" like slipknot
I guess you mean to say this is not the Corey from Stone Sour but the one from Slipknot. ;)
BL00DSICK
yeah, that would be more appropriate i think :)
The classic cover from Metal Church!... It's awesome!
Love this! But everyone should do yourselves a favor and go check out the original version by Metal Church. Then check out more Metal Church.
Never would've imagined these guys would be the ones to do it. Wow. Actually rips face too with his vocals
Awesome , kicking ass as always.
It's way past midnight
There's a howling wind
Oh God what can it be?
Something out there evil
And it's coming straight for me
The house is dark and very cold
I know there's no one here
Why am I scared to death
Just petrified with fear
'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the house
'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the dark
The dark
When I opened up the door
And snapped on the switch
The room was filled with light
Then something black and very fast
Fled upon my sight
What I feared most as a child
Was the coming of the night
Now my horrors have become quite real
My nightmares breathe new life
'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the house
Yes, I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the dark
Dark!
What is it in the house
That the darkness brings to life?
I sense their eyes upon me
As I grab a butcher knife
Whatever it is that waits for me
It hides beneath my bed
If I try to sleep tonight
By morning I'll be dead!
'Cause I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the house
Yes, I'm shakin' and I'm thinkin'
Of something evil lurking
And waiting for me in the dark
I love anything either band puts out 💀❤💀❤💀❤
I think that this cover of this track is so awesome! I play guitar as a hobby and this is the style of playing I can't resist!
1:37 Jim's slipknot mask in the mirror love it
Great Job doing this Masterpiece !
2:27 Nice solo bro!
Espectacular como todo lo que Stone Sour hace
God Damn it!!! This is bad ass!! I saw this a while back. I'm a fan of Robert Englund, old school "Freddy Krueger", and new school "Freddy vs Jason". Stone Sour, you guys fucking rock!!! Perfect song!! Sounds great.
Metal Church!
sem palavras muito bom
são feras!!!
I love Metal Church and the original song, but this still makes me happy.
How did they make Jim disappear? LOL
Video editing and stuff but who is new lead guitarist now?
Christian Martucci replaced Jim after they fired him last year. A bad move - Jim's sound is sorely missed.
SamirA Al Jaramani Hey you know what they say.... People=Shit.
SamirA Al Jaramani truer words were never spoken.
Jim's guitar at the 3.51 mark?!
White scratch plate and EMGs
Didn't know they covered this classic, 🤘
Badass!
Wow. I'm blown away
There are a lot of people that don't realize that this is a cover song! That being said I think it's awesome of stone sour to cover a Metal Church song! Hospitality...I'll fkin show you hospifkintality!! Classic!!!
Metal Church cover and a solid one at that.
Holy Shit where'd this come from, still constantly listening to the Gray Chapter now more Stone Sour. Awesome!
Love the movie and cory
It really good movie in a long time i really like wen cory go's nuts
The new album kick some ass :)
Great cover
I couldn’t stop fanboying when I found out Corey Taylor and Robert Englund was in a movie together
THAT!.....THAT was......AWESOME! :D
This sounds nothing like the Metal Church one, but who the fuck cares? They covered one of the most legendary metal bands ever and I personally think Stone Sour did a pretty good job. This is why they are called "covers" after all.
I personally prefer it when bands take songs and make them their own, shows a lot more talent than just doing a straight up 'copy and paste' cover. :)
YES! Exactly this. I absolutely agree with you mate.
hell Awaits !!
awesome
Those vocals are pretty fucking sick!

If only this band would make music this good...
Haha well.. There are actually a few Stone Sour songs that come close or lets say have a similar vibe to this song ... Like ..
"Get Inside"
Idle hands
Tumult
This songs are actually heavy for a stone sour song ... Take a listen to them you might like them ..
Rofl at the "live" performance! It's almost convincing! :D
Yea sounds badass....
Beautiful :)
Amazing one. It's Corey from Slipknot, not from Stone sour, and that's awesome.
I like some Metal Church songs too.
***** I've said "Corey from Slipknot", because of vocals, which he use on this song. I know that he was with Stone sour before Slipknot. Stone sour is his own band, which he created in 1992. Slipknot was created in 1995, and Corey joined in 1997.
***** I'm not complaining about it. I think it is good that Stone sour sounds heavy here.

corey fucking great vocals
Im not sure how good of an actor corey is, but i got a feeling im not going to be able to take him seriously. Man I gotta get this movie.
Fear Clinic was an amazing movie I love it :D
Nice track but SS without Jim Root is not the same...
It's a metal church cover
Don't hear the difference
I think it suits the style of the movie, but I'll stay with the original song by Metal Church. Just fits better with my taste.
Guys this is a Metal Church song they are covering it. Its not an original track.
Invisible James kicks ass
sounds like a version of a metal church song. In the Dark. interesting.
Musica nova?
Metal Church! \m/
#FearClinic 😍😍😍
We miss you James Root :'(
Maybe people think stone sour and slipknot are starting to sound the same is maybe..... The bands both have the same vocalist....... And maybe just maybe they like do sing different stuff.

Whatsername this song?
alvaro LP The Dark by Metal Church.
I bought this movie only because corey taylor is in it. Not a bad movie
Well, this KICK ASS. °_°
This one I can actually understand what MC was even saying. XD
Corey should invest in a voice actor career
My pants in my shit, or my shit in my pants. That really good question ir discussion.
This sounds a lot like something from The Grey Chapter
corey seems to drag his ways from slipknot to Stone Sour. which isn't exactly the same but similar.
2018
Metal Church >>>>>>
hehe awesome
Like the original better but this does sound good also.
this video seems like One of metallica
Waiting to see SS next album...I imagine how shitty it will be without Jim!
Better than original, vocally.
Stone Sour perde toda a essência sem o jim root
Does it matter who the fuck they sound like? All I know is Slipknot is amazing and still kicking ass since the 90's. Stone sour is just as amazing! Why... because it's fucking Corey Taylor... no matter if you think Slipknot sounds like they are leaning towards Stone Sour don't fucking listen.. stop comparing and enjoy the music for what it is... This songs sounds like the frontman from Slipknot .
why the fuck is venom in this movie? :v
Заебись)
First?
What a shame, an eternal metal classic of the 80s turned into this shit. Go listen the original, please
Stop being a metal elitist, please
Michael Moore Oh please. How the fuck is he a metal elitist? He's simply saying the Metal Church version is superior. And it's OBVIOUS that it is. Metal Church will forever be better than this shit band
No, thanks. It does not please me to listen to a man singing like a hysterical woman. ^^
That's why Metal Church have been pretty much forgotten. i'm not saying they're bad, obviously they were a huge influence to many bands. Corey Taylor alone is superior than them, though.
Alexandre Scher :D
Im glad they covered metal church caz there fucking amazing but i dont enjoy this cover..
Bring back jim. Fire josh.
the original song is so much better than this cover... METAL CHURCH KICK THE STONE SOUR'S ASS... AND SLIPKNOT'S ASS SO!!!
before talk about metal listen to albums like hanging in the balance, the dark, metal church or blessing in disguise
I smell Metallica in here.
Bad cover of a great song.
