  • Chad has graciously invited myself and Dugroz from Dugroz Reports to talk about the US Bank Altitude Reserve, and hopefully he can teach us a thing or two about Disney as well!
Thanks Chad for hosting this live stream!

Awesome Jay! Thanks so much for your support! I'm really happy to hear that this blend of topics has really helped you get the best value for your Disney vacations! We all want to save money, whether it be to Disney or some other destination so a lot of the money-savings concepts in both spaces apply!

Love this video! Love taking my family to Disney World. Always will buy Disney gift cards to pay for the trip, souvenirs and food for 5x back. I was surprised to find out the lego store at Disney Springs also accepts Disney gift cards

That's awesome Nick! Great to hear that you and your family enjoy those Disney World trips! Gift cards are a simple way to get a great return using a 5% card!

Thanks for the information. I have been trying to figure this out my self and could find many videos on youtube about it online.
FYI: The Walt Disney World Swan Hotel is bookable on the Capital One Travel Portal.

Awesome content guys! I'm still new to the credit card game but had a few questions from this discussion. I heard you say "tap to pay" does this give better bonuses than if it's swiped or charged online for certain things or with certain cards? Also someone mentioned going to Meijer when they fly home to buy gift cards. Do they have cards not available in other grocery stores? Or better multipliers? Also would be interested in a video about the real time rewards and how to maximize that and possibly a link/video about best places to invest liquid funds. I know you guys tend to focus on cc's but would like to know of better options than checking/savings that I can still access immediately if needed. Thanks again!

Thanks Ryan! Yes, so for the US Bank Altitude Reserve, you get 3X points back on mobile wallets so you need to load the card onto something like Apple Pay or Google Pay first. Then, using those mobile wallets, just tap to pay to get that 3X multiplier!
I'm not familiar with Meijer so I'm not sure, but I think the reference is to the general strategy of purchasing gift cards at grocery stores.
In terms of maximizing RTR, all you need to do is set it up correctly as we explained in this video, and you'll be all set to always redeem for 1.5X.
Perhaps in the future, I'll tackle that question of where to keep your liquid funds. Savings accounts are my preferred method, but a money market fund in Fidelity or Schwab is also a nice option as long as those interest rates remain high!

I was told to be careful buying gift cards with US Bank cards. Chase doesn’t care but I don’t want to risk my relationship with such a hard card to get in the first place

That's great to know Jay! I think gift cards are ok here and there, but we certainly want to be careful on these types of purchases depending on the issuer!

I have bought gift cards in the neighborhood of $300, such as an Amazon, gift card, using my altitude reserve a large handful of times. But never in rapid succession, only a couple two or three times a year. That seems to be fine.
I have also heard that they are “somewhat sensitive“ to gift card buying. Not as much as AMEX, but not as loosey-goosey is Chase. I suppose there is a point where you could overdo it, but I’m not sure where that point is.

@@DugrozReports good to know! I’ve using the chase cards to get gift cards and am hoping to get the Ink soon to do that for Amazon and Disney.
