I got one and it registered but the wide tooth comb attachment did not fit, bummer, one of the mane reasons I wanted it. I’ve never seen any dyson products on sale, had I known that I would have waited.

Can always register the warranty online before you open the box to know if it's real or not. If it's not real the serial number won't register online. It's always on the box, in the manual and on the tag on the cable.

I got a fake one in Hong Kong but it doesn’t feel as cheap as this fake it was like 20 bucks but I’ve been using it for a long time and works perfectly and the nozzle is super sturdy I can flick it the same as she did and it will not come off unless you pull hard. I guess it depends on where you buy the fake.
Edited on May 6th to add the power button tell.
I was extremely lucky to get a GENUINE Dyson hair dryer on eBay. (I know because I entered the serial number on the Dyson site for the warranty once I received it and - voila! - registered with zero issue.) That is one way to look.
Another? I have heard that *some* US Dyson models now may have a "regular" plug [unsure if this is really the case!], but the item I got had the oval-shaped plug with the red/yellow test buttons.
Speaking of buttons, the power button of a REAL Dyson has a white ring surrounding it; the fake does not.
Also? A REAL Dyson has that rectangular block thingy on the cord. If that's missing? It's a fake.
In addition, the box I got with mine did not just say "Helps prevent extreme heat damage..." but "Thermistor prevents..."
So, I hope these few things help with the search should one chance buying a unit on eBay. Good luck and be careful! As I said, I got lucky and I know - in buying one on eBay - it's rare to not get a knock off. Color me happy, surprised, and relieved. Hope these guidelines can help some others.
Mine has everything you said but the last thing . Mine says “ helps prevent extreme heat...” but i got the cord thing, I put the number on the page, it clicks right, sounds right, etc. So maybe in that last thing u are a little bit wrong?
@@mafernandita100 I read Dyson has possibly modified a few things, like plugs and such. I saw pictures of a real Dyson with a standard plug versus the one with the buttons, so I'm guessing you're okay. But all that I put are still good as a guide so people don't get scammed.
Dyson has said that the don’t do regular plugs it has to be an intertek plug any other plug is counterfeit
just want to note for people who happen to buy the Canadian version, it doesn't have the GFCI, it'll have a regular plug

I knew there had to be fakes because when I was reading some of the reviews of the same dryer I have people were complaining the attachments fall off, girrrrrrrrl it feels like it requires my full strength and entire body weight to pull one of them off!!! LMFAO!!! Those magnets are strong AF, my parents bought mine directly from the retailer and it just FEELS expensive. Love mine!!
I can tell all dyson are made and assembled in China, and the cost is like $35 original~$50 new edition. There is just no fake one. All of these thing are basically the same stuff. Dyson spends huge amount of money on advertising. My friend just got a 20k offer to drop a 2 mins youtube video and a instagram post. Easy money. OMG!

Yeah.... there's fakes bud! Also, drop you're friend name on the comments. I'm wondering if you work for the fake retailers. As embarrassing as it it, I've bought a fake Samsung phone. Absolutely everything looked legit till I bought it to AT&T and was told I was had. If its too good to be true... shop responsibly and do your homework.

Were u able to register the fake one with the serial numbers on the Dyson website? I got mine off Ebay new and was able to register it on dyson so I'm curious now whether I have a real or fake???
No I wasn't.. If you wanna be sure, bring your device to an official distributor and they might be able to help you.

Just called dyson and mine was a counterfeit with over 200 dryers registered with my same serial number. I was over my 30 days with ebay so they will not refund. People be careful and only purchase from dyson or places like ulta 😩

I got mine from eBay and I now realize I got a fake one. Ever since I got this thing my hair has been so sucky and I thought it was something I was doing wrong! I thought I wasn’t taking enough vitamins or something because my hair turned so fried and dry!! And usually my hair ever after blow drying it would be super silky and shiny and smooth but this thing made my hair so fried and dry and ZERO SHINE. I’m like what the actual f*** is going on here!! I was doing tons of hair masks and everything but now I see after using my moms blow dryer that instantly my hair was shiny and smooth again so the fake Dyson is actually fried my hair literally. I’m so livid right now.
Are you sure that the „fake” one isn’t actually the 1st HD01 version that used to hold attachments not that well? In 2019 Dyson launched HD03 version that looks exactly the same and has a few improvements like better temperature measurement and exactly better magnetic hold. HD01 was built from 2016 and maybe that’s why the logo was fading away. I just educated myself as I bought one from Dyson and only then realized that they added some “HD03” number on the invoice. Older ones may still be there somewhere on the market in shops’ stocks.
In my case it's 💯 fake. After I posted this video, Dyson Malaysia got into contact with me and we clarified a few things. 1. Dyson fakes EXIST. Just like how fake iPhones are also in the market. 2. Dyson is trying to weed out fake sellers but it's difficult with online shops.
Hmmm i agree. I have the HD01 and it’s exactly the same as that. It’s 2016 model, i verified the serial number and it wasn’t fake. Just older version, i have the purple corrale so took the old super sonice purple too 🫣

You may have confused yourself. The faded Dyson logo was on the Original Fuchsia unit at the beginning of the video.
No. Just the nozzle of the fuchsia Dyson faded. That's understandable since I use it everyday and clean it regularly. The logo on the body of the fake Dyson faded in just a few uses.
@@ReinaLum but the nozzle showed in 5:03 is the fake one but presented as the real one. This same nozzle is the one attached to the purple dryer on 0:11. I understand what you mean by the real one not fading fast. It's just that on this particular video the nozzle with the faded logo is real one. Very informative though! Thanks you.

Bought a new Dyson hair dryer for half the price of the original one. All the tell tell signs does not seems to match at akk. So far using for 8 months is working superb...do yeah good buy !
look at the cord. If it doesn't have a box light circuit breaker attached, it is Fake. That's the easiest way to tell that the little mermaid forgot to add
@@deweyoxburger2963 only the USA version of the Dyson hair dryer has the GFCI light circuit breaker. I don't think the Asia Dyson hair dryer come with the GFCI light circuit breaker.

Fake one doesn't have a surge protector. Also power on button is missing a white circle.
Got a fake one and it died very quickly because of lower quality motor components.

Hi. The cables looks very similar. There's no test or reset button on the plug. If you go to Dyson stores, they don't have that either. The best way is to go to an official store and get them to take a look at it. More often than not, they'll be able to help you.

Not all countries require a gfci plug. That is a United States requirement.

The seller promote it that it’s UK unit and can even register the warranty from UK Dyson website. Then I called Dyson Malaysia and it’s really entitle for worldwide warranty if it really a “genuine “ Dyson. Need the original receipt and proof of purchase.

@@Casey-uk3wy It doesn't matter now, since already past your return period. Just relax and enjoy as much life it gives you. If you bought it off the official website, they usually automatically register it for warranty. Otherwise also, just leave it out of your mind.

yeah ......ok, but.......it's working , right ? the fake i meant.....and who cares if there's a different pitch on sound or if the air it's less hot than the original as other youtubers point out.... for me everything looks percfect .....and because i owned 2 dyson vacuums in the past, i'm not very happy with the company ....i think it's way overpriced just like apple .... i can spend 60 for a dupe, but i wouldn't spend 500 on a dryer from dyson ....8 times the price

Yes I did! Thankfully the seller was quick to settle after the Shopee team got involved.

Nope. Mainly because you can't use any of the nozzles effectively. For the price, the wind speed for another established brands like ghd is actually better. This also stops working all together after awhile..

Akosua Rose because some fakes are cheap and if they last a few years it could be worth it if it does a good job. There a fake ones selling for $100. The real one is $550 I wouldn’t ever spend that much on a hair dryer.
I didn't know thar were fakes blowers from Dyson, but anyway, I'm not allowed to pay that. Right now, I have the Karmin dryer and is more than enough for me

Yes I did! But it took a lot of reminders and even me reaching out via Shopee. So he wasn't really keen on promptly refunding me.

I never realized which nozzle was the original one. You were so quick to twist them around in your hands that you passed off a fake as an original. The darker one with the worn letters is the original.

The cord is also a tell/tale sign. If there is just a straight cord it is fake. The original has a circuit breaker box with a button attached to the cord. Very simple

Not really.the cord actually depends on which country they are sold in. For market like Malaysia,the cord is straight (bought mine from dyson malaysia's official website)

TBH, there is a few things wrong with this. 1. Most of the sellers (like mine) claims that it's original. Which is not only unethical towards the consumer but also a crime towards Dyson as a company. 2. A 'high' copy would probably cost at least half of what Dyson charges. And why on earth would you buy a FAKE for that much money especially since its just a friggin' hair drier. I'd advise people to take that money a buy something original from another brand like Panasonic or GHD. Just my opinion ✌🏼
