what's always funny is that zangief in the OG was never really an evil character
rather, the story allegedly goes one of the main Ralph writers who used to play street fighter 2 as a kid had a fuckin MONSTER of a zangief main that would sweep the arcade frequently

@@MUGENanaya Makes sense. Zangief isn't a villain, but he sure is a bad guy to face for people who don't know how to handle a grappler! That, and he was probably there to lend the friends he made his support.

It's a reference to "Wreck-It Ralph", where Zangief was sitting in a group therapy session for villains.
The director of that movie later admitted Zangief was just there because he kept losing to Zangiefs in Street Fighter 2.
