I’m pretty jelly that I didn’t know this. Imagine how cool this would be to show the boys back in the day. However if an apocalypse were to happen and all was left was a PlayStation..we got ourselves a party 🎉
Genuinely thought that lightning was coming out the port! Lol Great future cop cameo Love the soundtracks that you chose lol especially Mr Partridge Quality video again 👍🏼
lol I'm glad it was so convincing. Took forever lol. I have a lil box that would make that PAL video display in colour but I was too lazy that day I guess to set it all up lol. Lapd is great though. All our cds are in the car so I had to grab whatever was at hand and I had just bought that Alan Partridge cd lol. Great show though. Thanks mate! On to the next!
I had a Goldfinger 3 in 1 which plugged into the i/o port, and allowed u to play gboy/gboy color games and it worked great! it also had a cheat option for the gboy games, and all the stuff that the other ones had, play imports, backups, cheats. etc
I don't remember my ps1 having a parallel port, was that just a overseas thing? Also, if I remember right, the game shark I had was just a CD you enter the code switch the CD with the game and you where good to go, don't think I had any other device ( could be thinking of the PS2 though)
The serial I/O link port kind of did that for 2-4P games that supported PS1 linking; but, yeah, interesting to think with the current ODEs whether the RAM, etc. could be expanded.
They were selling what we calleda mod chip back when i was a kid. Which just let you play games from other countries and burnt games. I finally got the money together to get one. Only to find out my specific system didn't have it and i was so broken hearted. I wanted to play dbgt final bout so damn bad. Oh i think it did do cheats too.
PS1 always played copied audio cd's. Even the PS2 did. You're TRIPPING HARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swapped my late 9000 model PAL PS1 (had an N64 for most of that gen and part-exchanged) for my neighbour's 5500, because it had a parallel port for plugging in a cart to play my imported copy of FFIX (I also had to migrate to the living room TV to play in 60hz / NTSC (and therefore colour) using a proper RGB SCART cable (my introduction to wonders of RGB). I was just stumbling about in the dark back then. I must have found out what i had to do through dial-up internet and advice at my local indie game store, PlayAway (RIP)
0:31 That music playing in the background just gave me *Disney Pixar's Cars* flashback
Ahh! The nostalga

on the game shark pro if you use the music cd option it can stop the disc and you can then put in an import.
Hmmmmm, I'll have to give that a shot. Nice tip.

The trainer option on the Super GB Booster is basically for manually finding cheats

2:00 excellent choice sir

The got rid of it after a while because of these devices but then gameshark just switched to cd lol.
Parallel port was only on the first models.
It would be great if posible to use that parallel port maybe to put english translations for japanese games, that would be wild.
GameShark Pro 3.1 and 3.2 both have the image and fmv viewers buried in a menu.
Did you try burning mp3 to a CD at a slower write speed?
2X is the slowest I could write. I tried a few different cd's but none worked very well. Could be an issue with the Playstation laser.
Just searching for other use of parallel io and you played my favorite anime (cardcaptor sakura) in psx, what a coincidence 😄
Wait. What if they had used a second PS1 to support the first one for fast calculations and therefore improving games technically even further?
The serial I/O link port kind of did that for 2-4P games that supported PS1 linking; but, yeah, interesting to think with the current ODEs whether the RAM, etc. could be expanded.
Way too slow for data transfer back and forth.
Would this unit work on a US console?
Yup, the Playstation I was using was a US one.
@@VGgameplay Thank you kindly for the verification.
🤔 Can I use two of these to do some Japanese PS1 Serial I/O system-link on NTSC-U consoles? ...There has to be a cheaper/easier way though.
Hello a New subscriber here loved this video
Thanks, good to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
*the GAMARS VCD player and Action Replay are the best!* 💡
Is the vcd add-on official (as in legal)
It is not official. There were a few different versions but none licensed by Sony.
What's the name of the song?
Which song?
@@VGgameplay the background music that starts after the intro
It's the Radiator Springs theme from Disney Pixar's Cars game on PS2.
@@VGgameplay thanks

Audio cds maybe but not MP3's from a disc.
You be tripping!
