Does anyone know why they think Skara Brae was necessarily a year-round habitation rather than just a permanent site to take advantage of a seasonal resource?
The midden pits and theory due to proximity to other neolithic sites, ring of brodgar/stennness/maeshowe were believed to be a religious / spiritual area with scara brae being a village, they belive there is a village in the area of "tomb of the eagles" but its yet to be discovered.
My ancient ancestors are from Orkney. This is appreciated.
