Grew up 13 miles from the Pate Museum; and attended every swap meet through 1982. We went there a lot; and when I got my drivers license; I was there constantly. The modern swap meet just doesn't have the magic it did at the museum; plus the stuff that showed up for sale back in the old days would boggle the mind.
Yup, and the stuff that showed up back in the old days was actually worth what they were asking. Heck, everything was a bargain, not like these days where everything is way to expensive. Y'all have yer selves a good day, God bless ya.
The Pate swap meets at the transportation museum location is where I got hooked on this hobby. The last year there my stuff was set up on the hill near the windmill and stable, overlooking the 3-day mud fest. I brought a cabin and a wood stove for heat. I drove out that Sunday using the ranch road. It is still my favorite swap-meet memory.
Are you the one with the 55 Chevy 2or4 door roller that im willing to trade my 1961 Apache 10 six foot 6 cylinder sht bed step side , ?? Let me know Happy Independence Day thanks BigAl California.
i can't believe some of those prices, most everything i see there is way over priced and thats why they haul it all back home with them when they go, i diden't see anything there that i would give half of what they were asking unless i really wanted it bad, what a joke...
I used to go there in the 80s and it was always a great swap meet! I wish I could do it again but too much of a roadtrip.
I bet in the 80’s there where some really good deals
